LOTRO is the most generous ftp MMO ever. Hear me out. Posted: 11 Oct 2021 06:21 AM PDT I am a new LOTRO player, I only have 60 something hours into it, but I already love this wonderful game not only in itself, but also due to the attention and generosity of the developers. The premium currency system of this game, the LOTRO Points, is fantastic. I know this game has a paid VIP subscription and a Premium account status, and these have good benefits. However, it is perfectly fine to stay FTP in this game, unlike other MMOs. LOTRO Points are the premium currency. They can be bought, acquired directly by purchasing a subscription, or simply earned through gameplay. Emphasis on the last part, because this type of currency is usually way too rare to acquire, but it's simple to earn in LOTRO, for free. To earn LOTRO Points quick and easy, this is all it takes: Create a new character, make it a Hunter Elf, play the Intro, and then complete every single quest and every single deed in Eren Luin. After that's done, delete that character, rinse and repeat. You should get enough for at least one expansion by the end of a single run, or maybe the wallet upgrade. Those are PERMANENT upgrades, mind you! It's not a waste of time by any means. The fact that earning premium currency in this game is possible by simply farming and grinding, almost makes me want to pay! The developers must know of how easy LP are to earn in the early levels, and they left it as is. This shows that they're not money hungry, and try to make us pay by convincing us with a quality cash shop, without those insanely expensive cosmetics, ridiculous XP boosters and premium weapons unobtainable by normal gameplay that many (if not most) MMOs out there shamelessly have. The LOTRO Store is respectful, and even though it can get intrusive in the game, you can grind away the points needed to unlock the most crucial account upgrades. To summarise all of this: I'm entirely free-to-play, and so far, I have redeemed that LOTROQUESTS2021 coupon code, made enough LP by gameplay alone to buy every single 99 LP remaining expansion and Instance Cluster, bought the premium wallet, made enough LP to buy the Riding Skill for one character, and I am close to buying the Beorning + Character Slot bundle, which is pretty cheap for what it is, and it's not even on sale! I only don't have Minas Morgul and War of Three Peaks, but I'll get them in a couple of days at this rate. Stuff like the Shared Storage, Character Slots, Trait Slots and Cosmetic Outfit Slots aren't even necessary, and since I play with only one character at a time, it can wait. Grinding is usually tedious, but this game has such wonderful landscapes (like the ones in Ered Luin) and engaging combat, that grinding is actually fun. Just put some music on Spotify and grind away! It's kind of a dopamine rush to have the game say "LOTRO Points earned", it's a permanent bonus to the account, meaning I'm not grinding for nothing. Or you could just buy all of that and save time, it's entirely up to you. But the fact the developers indirectly offer the option of grinding to acquire everything for free, that's just marvelous and generous. So much that I actually feel bad for not supporting them. Who knows, I might become a VIP for a month in the future! Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2021 08:05 PM PDT Hey! First time getting back into LOTRO in almost 3 years, very fun checking out the new stuff. I've always only been F2P, so I'm a bit limited with what u can do but I still enjoy myself. Anyone wanna hang out a bit while I relearn my RK? I'll be on for another hour or two tonight, send me a PM!! [link] [comments]
The Ultimate Premium/B2P Account (what to buy in the LOTRO store as a new player) Posted: 11 Oct 2021 01:19 PM PDT I have been eyeing LOTRO and playing on free accounts for a long time. I missed the codes last year, but managed to catch them this time around. After some research, I have compiled the cheapest F2P/B2P account that doesn't hinder the player experience. For about $30, you can unlock just about all of LOTRO in a way that mimics VIP. He is how:
The min-max for step 4 would be to log-in once you have the ability to unlock all the class traits as well. You might also want to spend money on the premium wallet around level 50, but you could also grind this one out given you have most of the content now. Once you have all this, vip is largely just QoL. The LOTRO store is CONFUSING AS HELL for a new player, but I hope this can help incoming players maximize their gameplay experience! I did this exact thing myself. [link] [comments]
If you could only play one race/class, what would it be? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 03:57 PM PDT
How long do you think the game will hold up? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 02:25 PM PDT I tried this game a few times around 10 years ago and couldn't get into it but now I installed it again and got the free quest packs and got the expansion packs for 99 points and somehow I'm absolutely loving it. It'll definitely be a game I leave installed now and hop into from time to time even when I'm not playing full time. But the only thing I wonder is about how long the game will be online because alot of people talk about the low player count and after what happened to wildstar it surprises me this is still online. But It'd be awesome for it to somehow Keep going. [link] [comments]
Captains of Middle Earth and The Last Alliance of Vilya Kinships Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:53 PM PDT Hello everyone, so years ago I had multiple toons on the server Vilya. Since coming back a few weeks ago and having to start fresh, since the server was retired. I was a part of two really awesome kins (alts spread across both of them). I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on those kins and maybe where all the members went. At least some idea. I am apart of a solid kin on Gladden currently but I really miss playing with all those people from The Last Alliance of Vilya and Captains of Middle Earth. Any help would be appreciated, thank you! Is there a simple guide which outlines how the story progression in LOTRO works? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 02:49 PM PDT Hi everyone, I'm a fairly new player but definitely getting my enjoyment out of the game, and can see this being my main game for some time now as the questing in this is just very therapeutic :D But one of the issues I've had is trying to find a guide which outlines the 'flow' of how the various zones work alongside the main Epic. I'm unsure whether it's possible to just play through the epic books, or do I need to complete certain zones as well? I downloaded the free quest packs which of course I'm most likely no where near to using yet, but are those quest pack locations optional questing zones for leveling, or does the main Epic take us through each of these? I know for SWTOR (the last MMO I played), there is a flow chart which outlines the guide in how certain planets/dungeons are tackled in order for the story. But to summarise; I'm just wondering if I'll reach a point in the story where I'll need to buy any of the expansions/quest packs which weren't included in the free giveaway AND whether there is a certain order to play through the zones, or if they're by & large optional? Thanks as always :D [link] [comments]
Too late to start on Treebeard? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 11:20 PM PDT Been trying to decide if I want to play lotro again and I am wondering if Treebeard is worth giving ago instead of just playing my old characters on Evernight. I'm guessing there is no EU version? its just one big server for everyone? [link] [comments]
I cant do the minas morgul crafting quests Posted: 11 Oct 2021 12:29 PM PDT For some reason i dont see the ring over the head of the cooks guild leader in estolad lan in the morgul vale. Queries from a potential first-time Aria of the Valar user Posted: 11 Oct 2021 05:15 AM PDT Hi everyone! I'm a new player who's been casually into lotro for only around a month now, basically just trying out the various classes until level 15ish to see if I actually like the game (I do!) so I've decided to start fresh one central character for the story. I'm not looking to get into any instanced PVE or Raids etc, literally just want to turn on after work and breeze through the solo quests without spending ages fighting overland mobs and experience the story in a very easy way, just one point to the next (I really enjoy this sort of stuff) while one hitting mobs. I've been looking at the various Aria's which are like level 50, 105, 120 & 130 (I think the final two cost the same via LP?). Now I have some queries...

Legendary server for new player ? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 09:14 AM PDT Hello everyone, I've started Lotro a few days ago and I really like the game. I'd like to play in a group (leveling and dongeons) as much as possible while leveling. Do you guys think I should play on a classical server (Evernight for instance) or it would be easier to find a group on a legendary server ? Thanks for your advice ! [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2021 02:20 PM PDT Hello everyone! I've been playing LotRO for over a year now, and recently I updated my Mac from Mojave. I was really sad to see it'll no longer run LotRO. It's my understanding that downgrading Macs is difficult and not very safe for your data. So what should I do? If it matters, my laptop is an early 2010s MacBook Air. Is there a way to get the game to run, or do I need to buy another computer? If the latter, are there any cheaper options you'd recommend? (I'm not in a financial place to go all in on a proper gaming PC right now.) Thanks for reading! [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2021 06:40 AM PDT Is there any place to get gear between 120 and 130 if you don't have Minus Morgul? Just came back and Ive been doing missions daily on my captain and I'm up to 122 and the DPS has slowed a ton. I'm guessing there's landscape gear that's better than the Vales stuff I have but I don't have Minus Morgul. Are there options or do I have to buy the Expansion? [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Oct 2021 11:57 AM PDT I've never played LOTRO but have been interested in playing for some time. I went to the website and downloaded the Mac client but when I click on it, it pulls up Python, runs a few lines of code, and then Python disappears and nothing else happens. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to do something else to get it to run? Thanks in advance!!! [link] [comments]
New player stuck at novice crafting Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:11 AM PDT So I just started to play yesterday and got the novice craft quests, it seems I didn't receive enough materials to complete any of the three quests for crafting. I was able to make 1 bronze ingot but not enough materials to make the required second. Am i crazy? Do i need to drop quest and try again? [link] [comments]
Belegaer - very BAD server performance right now, or is it my connection? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 09:32 AM PDT As the title says. I´m on Belegaer, and sound and animation are lagging behind like they never did before. Pinging google.com tells me my connection is fine, so it´s either the routing to the server or the server itself. Anyone experiencing bad server performance in the last days, too? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 05:39 AM PDT I thought the difficulty slider was available on all Legendary Servers. Apparently that is not the case. Any idea when they are going to give that option on Anor? [link] [comments] |
