    Level cap recap: 130

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:32 AM PDT

Gundabad has been announced for fall this year. Since that means the end of level 130 cap is near, i have decided to write a recap of what happened in these almost 2 years. I will also be leaving a rating at the end of it.

We started off strong in late 2019. The Minas Morgul expansion featured 2 new areas to explore: Mordor besieged and the Morgul Vale. Great conclusion to some of the story lines (not gonna go in detail cause spoiler lol), amazing landscape and perfect atmosphere (of special note: the spooky faces you can see in the fog, great job with that!).

In terms of instances, we had a lot to work with from the start: not 2, not 3, but 4 instances (3 mans) were released at launch. 2 of them (harrowing and roost) were rather easy and farmable, the other 2 (deep barrow and filth well) were quite a bit more challenging.
Just before things got boring, we were treated with another 3 instances, this time 6 mans. All 3 of them had very interesting features: Black Lore had rotating boss fights every week, Lamentation was long and challenging and Fallen Kings was a nice boss rush type instance.
Finally, we had Remmorchant: at release the most challenging raid since Throne at 105 cap. It was also the first raid to feature a difficulty of up to t5, which took ~3-4 months for anyone to complete (ik that's not 100% because of difficulty, but more cause there was not much of a reason to clear it).

With the release of t5 Remmorchant, we also had new landscape content: the wells of Langflood. Yet another stunning area, North of the Vales of Anduin, where we met more Beornings, and a couple of Hobbits even!
Tied to the Wells of Langflood, we also had another Scavenger Hunt, which resulted in the release of a new and challenging 3 man instance, Chamber of Shadows, based in Moria.

Shortly after that, in summer 2020, we had Bombadil: a level 50 capped tournament server, where we could fight each other over the best deeding spots in Eriador to gain points for the side we had chosen, Team Elladan or Team Elrohir.

After Bombadil closed and we all came back to our home servers, we got a new mini expansion released in fall 2020: the War of the Three Peaks (idc if people don't consider this worthy of being a mini expansion, i still consider it good content, and that's what we're here for), where we started the story line of the conflict between Dwarves and Orcs. The new area, Elderslade, was a war zone, and we got our first glance at the gates of Gundabad.

With the War of the Three Peaks we also had the new 6 man instance Stair Battle (fun and farmable) released.
Additionally we had a new raid, the Bloody Threshold, which was shorter and easier than Remmorchant, but still had quite a challenge to it. Sadly the race for world first t5 clear only lasted for about 30 minutes and was just a matter of who logs on the quickest after release.

In spring 2021 we got something special: to accompany Thrang and Storvagun, we got a new boss from the vaults for the Spring Festival. This time it was Naruhel from the Garth Agarwen instance.
But it didn't stop there: for the first time since level 50 cap we had a new area released that was not for the current level cap: the Wildwoods connected Bree Land, the North Downs and Evendim, and was designed for players around level 45.

Together with Wildwood, we had 2 fun new 3 man instances, Agoroth and Woe of the Willow, where you could earn tokens to upgrade your gear from Remmorchant.

Later, in summer this year, we had another new expansion released: the Blood of Azog, where we witnessed the attempt of King Thrain to reconquer Khazad Dum. The new area, Azanulbizar is another war zone featuring amazing landscape and atmosphere at the eastern gates of Moria.
This expansion also featured the most difficult raid in LOTRO history: the Fall of Khazad Dum.

Around the same time 2 new legendary servers were opened (Treebeard and Shadowfax), shortly after Ithil, one of the older 2, got closed. These new servers feature a landscape difficulty slider and they will progress at a different pace: Shadowfax will be fast, Treebeard will be slow progressing.

And this ends our journey through the past 2 Years in LOTRO, as we have reached present day. Last week we had our first preview at the last bit of content we may have at 130 cap: the new Brawler class and a big rework to our legendary items (idk for sure tho if they will release this level cap or if they will release with Gundabad).

In short we had a ton of content this level cap:
    3 mans: 7
    6 mans: 4
and for the first time in LOTRO history 3 standalone raids.

7 new areas to quest in, 3 new servers opened (1 of them only temporarily), 1 server closed.

There can always be something criticized, ofc: big server issues in summer 2020, class balance issues, brutally neglected PvP (in terms of PvP, we have no PvP; yes, creep stats were updated a year ago, but that didn't revive the moors in any meaningful way sadly); but given the vast amount of good content we had in these 2 years of level 130, i can see past that and i can only say: keep up the work, level 130 was great!

    verdict: 10/10 level cap

Never played LOTRO before but excited to jump in. Do I play on a regular server or Shadowfax or Treebeard?

The idea of a legendary server where I can progress through the expansions with people as if its relevant content really excites me, but is there a playerbase on those servers? Should I just go with a regular existing server? Thanks!

No one's selling 4-Packs or the Samwise Gamgee's Starter Pack

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:22 PM PDT

I'm a new player and was looking to buy those packs, some users recommended me them but turns out I can't find (non-shady) websites to buy them anymore.

Is there something going on? Does anybody know something about this?

The company seems to have ordered the packs to be removed from sale, but why? To try extract economical packs or to renew them based on new content?

    Returning player looking for help

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 09:30 PM PDT

Haven't played in a long time… since about a year or two after the Moria expansion came out… and having reached a new lonely low in life I'm looking to get back into the game of which I have so many great memories… not only of the game itself but the community and the friends I made during my adventures. I plan on returning as a rune-keeper because it's my favorite class and i've always enjoyed playing the support\healer role and I would like any advice on a good friendly server to play on and the names of any kinships who wouldn't mind helping a new-ish player and maybe making a new friend.

How many active property Guards can you have at the same time?

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:16 PM PDT

    Hey,

I just wonder how many Property Guards can you place in your Player House? Is there a limit?

Or let's say I can put for example a small army of Guards in my garden?

    Thanks for replies.

Warden Spear Sweep Trait Line Questions

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 08:44 AM PDT

So info I've read from Louey and the like are telling me that the Spear Sweep chain in warden red line is crummy, cause it consumes your bleed and that's no good. And I get that.

BUT, by the time you are fully traited in that line, there is only a 50% chance that it will consume the bleed, and 30% chance that it will inflict a bleed on everyone impacted by the AOE burst.

So, what it looks like to me is that in a long fight against a single large target without a lot of adds, you'd output more damage without spear sweep, but when dealing with adds, surely the burst and the 30% chance burst targets take a bleed and the 50% chance of not even consuming the power attack bleed in the first place, surely that all adds up to be better DPS than not taking those traits...right? Or am I missing something?

Also, one thing I can't seem to figure out is just how strong is the damage burst from shield sweep, or the 30% chance burst bleeds? Cause I guess the real question is, does the AOE burst from this trait line do more damage than just using those trait points upping your light damage and doing your AOE DOTs instead? Without being able to tell how much that burst and burst bleed damage is, it's hard to say.

    Finding username from character

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:43 AM PDT

My wife and I used to play lotro several years back but she had her college email linked that is no longer accessible. We tried emailing turbine but didn't get very far.

We do know her character name as my main has her on the friend list- is there any way to look up a username based on a character name? Thanks

    Posted: 13 Sep 2021 05:28 AM PDT

    Hello!

I am wondering, which houses out there have the highest number of external hooks?

I really like to decorate the outside of the Player House and I wonder which house I should get.

    Thank you for replies!

Can anyone summarise the basic stat differences between the classes? Just the stat difference part will be enough. Thanks in advance.
