Posted: 21 Mar 2021 06:48 PM PDT I started playing the game not long after it came out. Sometime in 2007 or 2008. I played for 5 or 6 years and had a number of characters. I was browsing Steam today for something to play and saw LOTRO. I decided to download and see what it looked like. Now it has been a very long time since I played and felt the best thing for me was to start out fresh. When the game started it was like coming home. I had tried out ESO for a couple of months and although it is a beautiful game I really felt overwhelmed. LOTRO doesn't leave me feeling that way at all. I'm glad to be back! :Thank you for the award! [link] [comments]

Returning player, looking for possible kinship for old content? Posted: 22 Mar 2021 03:06 AM PDT Pretty much what it says on the title, except you could probably treat me like a semi new player. For some context I grew up watching my dad and older brother playing the game and joined around Rise of Isengard (or just before the talent trees) and only ever hit max level when the cap was 100 (I was very bad at levelling in one go), I did consider trying the Legacy servers when they came out but I didn't like how it wasn't a true classic experience, it was only around that time I properly started to play MMOs for the experience rather than rush to max level and burn out before getting halfway there. I'm an EU player, currently in University, never experienced raiding in LOTRO nor do I understand all the game's mechanics, but I'm willing to learn, it's possible I'm doing this for the nostalgia of seeing the raids as I used to watch my family do the raids since Shadows of Angmar up to I think Riders of Rohan? Posted: 21 Mar 2021 11:05 PM PDT I've ready many posts that say that Laurelin is the most RP friendly server. My question is if I (an NA player) would be able to find a group to rp with there, or if I should try the NA servers first? I'd love to hear from someone who is active on Laurelin, such as around what hours of the day are the most people online, is there actual active RP happening and what not. [link] [comments]

Question from returning player Posted: 21 Mar 2021 10:09 PM PDT I'm considering coming back to this game after years of absence, and I was wondering... do you still have to drop a crap ton of money just to play past the first three areas/have basic convenience items like a mount? Cuz that was what made me leave the first time. I have a little cash to spare now, but if it's still as extreme a paywall as I remember it being, idk if it's worth it to me. [link] [comments]
I'm beginning to think there isn't a class for me in LotRO. :( Posted: 21 Mar 2021 01:45 PM PDT Been trying to get into the game for a couple weeks but I can't seem to find a class that ticks all my boxes. Granted, I'm pretty picky, but usually in an MMO I can find at least one class that suits me. In LotRO I would like...
My options therefore are very limited and I'm not super enthused with my remaining options. The only Medium armor wearing melee class available to any type of Dwarf is Burglar, and my impression of them is that they're like a rogue or assassin in other games - they're not especially durable, so they make up for it by sneaking around carefully and crowd-controlling any possible adds so they can fight a single foe at a time. I don't mind fighting one enemy at a time, but in case I accidentally pull some adds, I'd like to be able to stand my ground instead of having to vanish to avoid certain death. I also have heard very, very little about whether Burglars can solo fellowship quests or instances - save for a couple of complaints that Burglars are at a disadvantage in certain difficult quests, because sometimes they're forced into battle immediately after interacting with an NPC or object, preventing them from starting the fight from stealth. I'm guessing the future Brawler class stands a decent chance of being available to Dwarves and using Medium Armor, but it sounds like it might be coming out close to the end of the year and I'd really like to start before that. I guess I don't have much of a question, I'm just kind of venting. Even though I don't like being the sneaky type, I'm tempted to start a Burglar anyway, but if any Burglar players are reading this I'd love to hear from you about whether they're as squishy as they sound or whether they can handle some group content on their own. Can anyone recommend any good kinships on Evernight (EU) Posted: 21 Mar 2021 07:15 PM PDT Hi folks, Can anyone recommend any good all-round kinships (i.e. plenty of activity for levels 20-130, as well as being solid end-game raiders) on the Evernight server? Just got back into the game and am looking for a kinship - I've heard Everlasting Hope are solid and very active, any other good ones out there before I make a decision? Back in 2009 when I last played I used to raid quite a lot, so while raiding at the highest difficulties is not the priority right now (my highest toon is lvl 15 currently), that is something I'm keeping in mind for the future. Any thoughts? Thanks :) [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Mar 2021 03:01 PM PDT Opened a ticket almost 3 months ago to try to restore my account access, can't access my founder's account, gave them all the info they requested. Told them to let me know if they needed anything else. They said they elevated my ticket to the appropriate team. Then I heard nothing. About once a month I reach out and follow up and after waiting usually over a week I hear back and am told my ticket is with the relevant team but they have nothing further to share. I understand sometimes this stuff is rough, but I really wish Standing Stone would just communicate with me. Pop in the ticket, let me know what it is they've ran into, or ask for additional information. It's just bad customer service to ghost someone. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Mar 2021 02:27 PM PDT I stopped playing in the summer, because the lag was unbearable and mounted combat just did not work. How is the lag now, please? [link] [comments]
Fornost and Dori - instances and fellowships Posted: 21 Mar 2021 01:33 PM PDT Hello, me again. Really back into the game, enjoying every second, mostly solo. Right now I arrived at the moment where I need to free Dori in the North Downs and the quest text strongly advises doing that in fellowship. I really want to do this, be it only for the lore. At the same time I want to enter Fornost to kill Krithmog (using his collar as bait) - and it looks like you need to complete four instances (wraith of ...) to get there. Anyway, I really want to see more of Fornost. So it looks like I can't get around fellowships and instances anymore. But when I click "find a fellowship" it's empty for all "my quests", and the instance finder also seems to show nothing. What do you suggest to get into this (multiplayer) part of the game? I'm on Landroval, online normally around 18:00 EST. Level 32. [link] [comments]
Class advice to play an Off Tank Posted: 21 Mar 2021 02:52 AM PDT Hello everyone, the last time I've played this game was at the release of it and I just played a few levels. So it's safe to say that I don't know anything :) With loads of tanking experience from WoW I'm looking for an off tank class to participate in pretty much everything that LotRO offers (just pleb stuff raiding, dungeons etc., no progress or high end raiding). In WoW I liked DK > Warri > Monk > rest. I prefer an offensive style. So my choice came down to a guardian who can 2h tank or a warden to tank with shield + spear. I did some research and I only found information (from mid/end 2020) about the broken state of captains and that guardians and wardens aren't viable atm. So I need some advice from veterans which tank class (Optional: 2h weapon, offensive playstyle with optional bleeds) is viable enough to group with other peoples to clear raids on a casual level. Cheers everyone! [link] [comments]
