Lord of the Rings Online | I came to Lotro for the first time last week from WoW. On an RP servern, I ran into a band playing for an audience in Bree. I already feel more inlove with this community than the toxic WoW one! This alone makes me want to stick around longer

The Servers When They Found Out That More People Were Playing LoTRO:

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 02:44 PM PDT

Just downloaded the game. Why is every single server closed? And when will they open?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 01:12 AM PDT

Good time to visit or revisit 'Talking Tolkiens' recreation of Frodos journey through the LOTRO world while reading from the book itself. Also give this man some likes and comments so he is encouraged to continue the series!

Since servers are down. I wanted to share my achievement from 2009 or 2010. First rank 10 on my old server - Elendilmir.

Shout out to ManaPotz for putting this on his YouTube channel. Guy is. Legend!

Showerthought: guess LOTRO actually stands for "Lord of the Rings - Offline".

    My hobbit dilemma

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 03:49 PM PDT

So I'm a hobbit at heart, and so am naturally drawn to making hobbit characters. I have a few of em now that I've played over the years but I have a hard time getting them past around level 50, it just starts feeling kinda weird to me playing as a little hobbit taking down trolls and hordes of orcs. I'd love to keep playing my hobbit warden but it's just this little feeling that keeps nagging at my inner lore junkie.

Idk why I felt the need to make a post about this, I guess I just needed to think out loud and maybe get some more perspective on the matter.

    Krarn from Arnor Rising?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 05:17 PM PDT

Hey just curious if anyone has ever heard of or knows a person who was named "Krarn" from an old kin which I think is defunct, Arnor Rising? Another member of the kin was Jarheld. I can't remember who else was in it now.

I just rememeber that I was still new to the game, and I somehow got recruited, and Krarn gave me 100 silver and I felt like a kin. He (I think it was a he) treated me well! The kin was a fun one too.

Krarn hasn't logged in since March of 2008, and Jarheld has been out for years too.

    EDIT: Server was Arkenstone

    Roleplay on Brandywine

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 06:53 PM PDT

I'm new to this game, just got up to around level 10 before the servers went down. I used to play exclusively on Moonguard in WoW for years, how is the roleplay on servers like Brandywine or is the RP usually on specific servers?

    Thanks in advance.

    Is there a concert schedule?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 04:14 PM PDT

Hi friends, I am hoping someone can point me in the direction of an in-game concert schedule.

I play on Brandywine and I know of a few weekly concerts in Bree. Is there some kind of schedule that encompasses player-run in game events? This may be a broad question, but I would appreciate any info (from any server).

    Thanks all,

LF objective answer - How much does the game cost?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 05:11 AM PDT

    Hi there,

I'm looking for a better role playing experience, other games' communities are meh and kiddy and not immersive it seems, it's an MmO afterall. Anyways I played this game as a subscriber once (where the community was godlike), but I know alot has changed (...), especially in terms of costs (ingame shop, in short referred to as "shop"). The only thing I hear negative about the "new"-lotro (from subscription only to now...) all the time is the game's price and shop, so - Without further ado...

Please tell me if you know:

    1. how much does the game cost?
    2. AFAIK I have to pay for each expansion?
    3. AFAIK I have to pay for each quest lines - If I am not a subscriber at the moment (for example in summer I play less...)
    4. what went Shop-Only, and how much does it cost? (I know that from other games usual stuff is suddenly shop only)
    5. what is a must-have-shop-gear and it's price? in case you want to go to top groups (not my plan, but it belongs to the topic).

    Thank you!

What's the chance of LOTRO being shut down to make room for Amazon's new LOTR MMO ?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 02:27 AM PDT

I was recently going through some old MMOSs and one that stood out was Star Wars Galaxies. To cut it short the game was a very popular MMO back in the day which lost most of its players due to bad changes. Curiously the MMO was shut down on December 15 2011 and Star Wars: The Old Republic was launched on December 20 2011. Just 5 days later.

LOTRO's recent unprecedented content giveaway makes me think that this is what's going to happen. The expansions and other content have always been very expensive and we rarely see sales on them and just like that we get basically the whole game for free for months on end ?

I mean sure the COVID 19 pandemic might be the cause as they know people are stuck at home with nothing to do, but isn't it just a bit too good ? If this is some strategy to make new players pay, it's still a loss when you consider the price of all the needed content vs a possible VIP subscription.

What's worse is that Amazon's new MMO is rumored to be PvP orientated and even if it's not, I very much doubt it'll recreate Middle-Earth as good as LOTRO has with 13 years of releases. You just can't build a world like this in a few years.
