Wait, I can get all quest packs for free and forever!

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 12:54 PM PDT

I just read the pinned guide post that If you enter a code ("lotrofreequests" I think) in the game store you get all quest packs for free and keep them forever? I thought they were free for certain time and to any F2P player because of corona. Is it true, since that post is almost a month old?!?

    The Legendary Weapons system

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 01:49 PM PDT

I'm not trying to be negative per se, and I'm sorry if anyone perceives this in that way. It's more that I am wondering if anyone else shares a similar opinion on this.

Much as I adore LotRO, the two aspects of the game I really dislike are the mounted combat and legendary weapons systems, to the point where (in the case of the latter) I would almost rather use a generic non-LI main-hand weapon if they weren't so totally unviable in terms of stats and damage output when compared to legendaries.

Quite aside from the sheer amount of time invested into the different runes, legacies, experience points etc that goes into making your legendary weapon even more 'legendary', there's the fact that it always seems that, by the time you've made your weapon really good (let's say you got it at lvl 55 and now it's maxed out and you're lvl 60), it's usually time to scrap it as it's now outmatched in terms of damage by other legendary weapons that are lvl 60+ rather than 55. Obviously not talking about endgame here when you can max out a weapon that's the highest level available at the time of play.

I also think that the idea of every player being able to easily access legendary weapons defeats the point of them being 'legendary'. It's like the line from The Incredibles: 'When everyone's super, no one will be.' The idea that legendary weapons drop so frequently is ludicrous to me and devalues them in my opinion. For old-school players, remember those truly unique and special rare drop weapons: The Elder Staff, Iorchathol, Flight-Song, Captain's Arm etc. Those were the true legendary weapons, that you felt truly lucky to possess and that you hoped you might be able to wield in such a way that upheld their former glory. They didn't need upgrading or altering because they were already 'legendary' BEFORE you found them. Not every player should be able to have their own personal Glamdring or Anduril. I get that the game team wanted to give players a sense of ownership of their special weapon, and that its important for everyone to get a 'fair' experience but I think there is so much that needs to be altered about the current system (another post in and of itself).

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 03:49 PM PDT

Hello adventurers! I played LOTR when it first came out and I want to hop back in since I heard the game is going pretty good right now and with a new expansion coming out in 2021?

I am stationed in Scandinavia and I wonder what the best server for me would be? I want to play on the most populated one and meet alot of people while lvling and stuff =)

if anyone have a guild open I would love to join in!

VIP expires in less than an month. What should I do before then?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 03:48 PM PDT

I've been playing since April. I first started a Dwarf Champion on Crickhollow. I started a Hobbit Hunter on Crickhollow a little later, and she's now my main. I feel kind of weird having a female character as my main, since I'm a guy. I made a female for no particular reason, other than trying out different race/class combos, but I fell in love with the shire as a starting zone, and I'm really enjoying the hunter class, so that's who I played the most. She's level 54 right now and in the Misty Mountains, so it would be a lot of work to start over with a male character now.

I also created an elf bard on Crickhollow as well, but I really didn't like it, and haven't even gotten out of the started zone.

I created a human burglar on Landroval (trying different servers), and got him up to 20 or so. He seemed OK, but I didn't love it.

I really like playing the hunter, although I think mostly because of the travel. There seem to be lots of back and forth quests (not to mention events like the Anniversary event and the Midsummer even), and I can't imagine all of the running around with only one milestone, and the few "return to" skills.

I started a 3 month VIP subscription on May and it's expiring in about a month, so I'm wondering, what should I do to take advantage of it before it's gone? Should I just create a bunch more characters on different servers in case I ever want to play them, so they will already have the unlocked wallet, fast travel and other permanent VIP perks? I read that you have to get out of the starter area for that to work, so it will take some time to do that for each one.

I haven't tried any other races or classes than what I mentioned above. I haven't joined a Kin yet either, since I still kind of feel like I'm feeling out the game. Just looking for advice on how to maximize my last few weeks of VIP, since I probably won't renew again any time soon.

Managed to play for an entire hour - now stuck on Cleaning up old connection.

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 01:26 AM PDT

Happy that Evernight was finally up, I managed to play for an entire hour before randomly crashing in Bree. Got stuck on log out, and upon restart I'm now stuck on 'Cleaning up old connection'.

Tried all the things from posts dating back to 2012 with no success. Yay for being a VIP and spending money on this game. Rant over.

    Mac - python doesn’t work

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 12:58 AM PDT

Hi, I come here because I've a big issue with my lotro launcher.. Yesterday, all was fine, I played lotro without problem. This morning (France hours) I launch lotro, like every mornings. The launcher begin to load with Wine, disappear and it's said that Python doesn't work... I tried to reset the Mac, change connexion, nothing changes. Somebody has a solution ? Or, if not, can I fix my game without passing by the launcher (which is unaccessible) ?

    Northcotton Farmer's Market Questline

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 03:17 AM PDT

Whenever I play through old content on a new character I always greatly enjoy this questline. I'm full of nothing but praise for it. If anything I wish there was more content like it in the game.

LotRO is my favourite game of all-time and I'll likely never stop playing it; but, like every MMO, it does fall into the trap of having most of its quest revolve around 'kill x number of monsters', or 'fetch x number of things'. It's really nice for those of us who enjoy the roleplaying aspect to really feel like we're contributing to the world. It's why I like the crafting system so much. So it's such great fun to help out the hobbits at the farm with all their various duties, to kind of feel like you're just an everyman doing a good deed as opposed to a hero. It's also such a nice break from all the fighting and linear quests, especially with the rest of the Everswim (LOL) content being just over the horizon.

    Landroval's Allies Discord Server

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 04:06 PM PDT

I have created an alternate chatroom to the in game ones for Landroval: https://discord.gg/e29VVB8 is the link. We have lff, trade, and world channels, but we need more people to make them viable. After the game is fixed we will still be around and possibly doing higher tier raids in voice comms. Tell your friends!

Can someone explain RP to me? [newp]

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 10:52 PM PDT

A couple of days ago, I made a character in the Laurelin server due to the shutdown on my usual one. I've seen people mentioning roleplay and though I have somewhat of an understanding of what it is, I don't understand what exactly roleplay entails. What is the usual behavior of characters that are roleplaying? Do they speak as if they're living in Middle-earth? Is it a common thing in the Laurelin server? Thank you for answering.

Returning to LoTRO - how is PvMP?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 07:59 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I'm a returning LoTRO player and I was wondering how active the PvMP scene is at endgame these days. I think the last time I played seriously was around Isengard. My main focus in an MMO is usually pvp and I was hoping I would be able to find an active community here.

Is it stated anywhere when the servers will be opened?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 08:49 AM PDT

I've been trying to find out when exactly when will the servers open, but I can't seem to find any info anywhere. I know it's Monday morning eastern time, but that seems rather vague.
