What is the right class for me?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 01:31 AM PDT

I am jumping into this game and I was hoping for a quick word of advice on what class might suit me best.

Generally speaking I prefer classes that are fast paced with good or excellent mobility and damage. The prettier their abilities are the better since I lean towards more visually impressive classes.

Some of my favourite classes from other MMOs are the Red Mage in FFXIV, Demon Hunter in WOW, and the Tamer in BDO.

New to game with a friend - need advice

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:28 PM PDT

So, coronavirus lockdown, end up having a lot of time and decided to play LOTRO with a friend who is a huge LOTR fan (has read Simarilion-i haven't) but not a huge gamer and never played any MMO - i have but not this one. We both cleared our starting regions today and met up in Bree and did some Spring Festival quests there which were really boring for him. I have some questions:

    1. How do you get a mount? Do I have to grind the 95 coins for the skill first and then get one?

    2. Which are the best regions to play for both of us? Both lvl 9 noobies atm Bree seems a tad difficult until we reach 15.

    3. The most important question: how do I keep him engaged to the game? I tried explaining to him that almost all early quests on MMOs are go fetch chickens or flowers but I think he's losing interest. When do you fight orcs or something more interesting? I don't want him to abandon the game or it's back to League for us for the next 2 weeks...

    4. I understand that most of the game is pretty much free until 30 April. Assuming he gets hooked for now, how do we make the most out of it before it expires?

P.S.: 99% we won't be spending any money on the game unless we really really get hooked

Can I grind to unlock the expansions in this free period?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 04:39 PM PDT

I know I can farm turbine points or whatever they're called now, and I've done it in the past as F2P to get WD/RK/Beo. Now that the quest packs are all available for a month, do I have opportunities to grind up a ton of them in this time or is it too time consuming?

    New Player, Couple Questions

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 04:06 PM PDT

Looking into the game, love the lore of LOTRO, decided to give it a shot during this free quest deal they have going on.

I'm trying to find a good populated server to join in on, I am not a VIP so the legendary servers are beyond my reach at the moment.

Not sure what class I am going to play yet, like the idea behind Lore-Master though.

Also looking for a decent guild or clan or whatever they are called in this to join up with that can help a newbie out.

    Your dumbest deaths

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 02:26 AM PDT

I dunno if there already exists a thread like this, but this is a thread to share your dumbest and most embarrasing deaths.

So, what's your dumbest death? Mine is at level 9 (oof), when I jumped down a mountain because I didn't know that you could die by fall damage since I've only broken my leg before.

Im new to lotro, is the there any way to hide the chat?

Issue when starting lotro. Blue contrast.

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:40 PM PDT

    Hi people.

When I open lotro it makes everything on my PC go really dark blue. It appears to be the co tract changing and this carries on even when lotro is fully closed down. The game itself is actually fine when open but if I close it it all goes blue and needs to be restarted. Is this a known issue at all?

Does the Premium Wallet Upgrade only apply to new characters?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 06:51 PM PDT

I have 5 developed characters and considering buying the premium wallet. In the description it says: "This offer applies to all newly created characters." and no mention of current characters. Will it apply to them as well?

    And is it worth buying?

    Not working on Mac

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:38 PM PDT

    Hello!

I am on a 2014 Macbook Pro, on Mohajve OS (which should still work with the game). I download the game, but I get an update error when I try to launch. I've tried reinstalling a couple of times, but get the same issue. I've been combing through old message boards to see solutions and so far, nothing has worked for me. Do any Mac users out there have suggestions on how to make it work?

    Thanks for your help!

Weapon swapping as Champion - Is it absolutely necessary?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 07:39 AM PDT

    Hi Everyone,

I know Champions aren't in the best spot at the moment, but I really like the idea of playing a Dwarf Warrior wielding exclusively 2-handed weapons.

I keep hearing that weapon swapping between 2h and dual wield during combat is essential to viable Champion dps. That honestly seems very tedious to me and is not something I would enjoy. Can I still fulfill the DPS role only using 2-handers?

    Thanks in advance!

Just started playing, can somebody help me with this doubt?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 07:55 AM PDT

Hi, hope everybody is doing well.

I started playing like 2 hours ago and I love the game so far, but I gotta ask this... do I need to pay IRL money in order to unlock traits in the traits tree? Also, is the burglar a good class? Im asking because everywhere I see the burglar is in last place and people say that they do no damage or that they are just useless.

Also, how is the endgame like? I used to play WoW and FF14, is the endgame anything like those games?

Can somebody please help me with this?

Which plug-ins, if any, greatly improve the LOTRO experience?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 02:05 AM PDT

Coming back from a long hiatus. In all my years playing LOTRO I've only ever played vanilla. Never used any plug-ins.

Is it time to give one or two a shot? Are there any that greatly improve the experience, whether it be easier navigating, farming, etc?

Anyone use ENB or Reshade with lotro?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 05:01 AM PDT

Been playing a lot of Skyrim lately and came back to lotro for the free month. Since skyrim has so many options for ENB and Reshade I'm wondering if anyone uses it on LOTRO and if it makes a difference.

    A long time ago

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 04:29 AM PDT

Hey guys, I heard about the news of the free Expansion till April and had a flashback to my lotto times. The last time I played was probably like 1-2 years ago, the last time I actively played Was during the rohan expansion. I managed to level a hunter to 84 and a warden to 75 or so, i think.

I thought about leveling a new character to experience the journey again. Are there any major changes since I last played? Like class re-designs or something like that?

    Thanks in advance
