So now a month or two into my time in LOTRO and I gotta say the community in general is really wholesome

Hey everyone, I started LOTRO back when the free quest codes were out for new players to get into the game. Before this I had heard of LOTRO, but was always turned away when reading about the aged graphics/design and the cost which was required to get into the game itself.

I funnily enough heard about the free quest codes via the r/MMORPG subreddit and decided to get the game installed and give it a whirl - why not, it's free & I love lotr!

Initially I created an Elf and played around the intro zone, I was enjoying myself somewhat but not fully committed due to being on the fence whether to stick out the game. Shortly after I noticed the High Elf race and over the course of a week I thought why not, might as well buy it as it looks fun as a LOTR fan - best decision ever.

Worked my way through the introduction then through the Ered Luin zone and it was there I started to notice the community was quite different to other MMO's. I'd frequently have high/max rank players just IMS'ing me from random and just stood around chatting for 15-30 minutes, and this was happening every single day. Just how am I finding LOTRO, their experience with the game, little pointers & hints etc. Newer players were also randomly inviting me to fellowships to get quests done or clear areas if we were having issues due to limited number of adds. Often talking how we're finding the game etc etc.

Getting into Breeland though and Bree itself was a whole different beast. Just seeing all these different players kitted out in wild gear just prancing around the town, emoting random players or just sitting in front of the fire in the Prancing Pony. Again, having different players just messaging me or watching the funny ordeals going on in World Chat, of which looks to vary in quality by the hour, always some entertainment there.

Checking out gear via the wiki as I'm a sucker for the movie style armour, especially the Hobbit's 'wrapped' armour which Elrond wears. Was asking around if anyone knows of any relevant sets, and bam some random player mails me a few pieces to make an outfit completely out of nowhere.

Just wanted to say it's been very fun so far, ended up cruising around the Lone Lands & North Downs with another player doing quests together keeping pace - far by the best MMO community I've experienced across a number of games I've played :D

Game loading error for mac... sad answer

After the update earlier this month I was unable to log in due to issues with the C++ stuff which I could not update due to using a Mac. So I reached out to Standing Stone and days later got back a response that they aren't supporting Mac at all anymore. There was a link to some suggested workarounds in the forums which I'll check out but if you've been playing on a Mac but hadn't reached out yet just know you've been abandoned and start figuring out how you'll work around it or what else you might want to play.
