Posted: 11 Dec 2021 04:02 PM PST I have been looking into the prospects of setting up a Network to run group content for players on Laurelin with the more casual side of players in mind. My reasoning is simple: There's a clear gap between the casual/RP side of the server and more heavy content in the game. I know there's a divide between player's preferences but I believe there is a niche that hasn't been explored here. A lot of players might be turned off with the idea of instances or raids yet might be curious to try it out or have just been looking for likeminded people to do it with. The 'face' of lotro (be it youtube videos, streams on their twitch or the discord or otherwise) is heavily casual orientated, yet there's a lot of meat in the game and content that a lot of players miss out on, be it because they lack the experience or the opportunity to do so. It'd also be a good way to network with people and maybe make some friends along the way. There's also a lack of resources for more in depth parts of the game that isn't buried deep within the Google/Youtube algorithm or otherwise on some random discord... While this would yet be another 'random discord', I'd hope it would become a more open option for players new to instances or just wanting to try it out of curiosity along with more experienced players to perhaps help them along the way. Everyone started out new once and Laurelin is a casual orientated server. While many RPers may not play the game outside of RPing in Bree or festivals (there is no wrong way to play the game), there seems a larger silent majority that quest, level and would like to try this sort of thing but otherwise haven't had the opportunity or had bad luck with PUGs in the past. Essentially it would be a discord server where people on Laurelin could network and run group content from any part of the game. I would also like to run consistent scheduled events where we go through instances. These events would be 'on level', but could also be scaled instances (up to an agreed level, most commonly level cap) or non scaled instances with characters at those general levels. (I have alts to cover 'most' level ranges). I'd like to activate players a bit and help them get through the door in terms of instances and raids. While this would be made as newbie friendly as possible, I also know a lot of people who play casually have a good understanding of the game itself and also might be interested in the idea which is ideal really because at least some of us will need to know what to do. With that said, this wouldn't be a tutor course nor would I expect people to babysit. It would be open for everyone regardless of skill level. And people with the right attitude and a willingness to delve into this could later go on to really bite at the game's endgame content, which is something that Laurelin could do with. With this said, it wold be a pretty open server with fairly lax rules to allow people to chat freely and just shoot the shit with others also. The social aspect I'd imagine would be another thing that would appeal to all players, especially casual people. I personally like to play in a less serious environment also. This wouldn't be some conquest to train up nabs in an effort to start a raid kin, but rather a network where people should be able to get more consistent raiding buddies at a lower level and also jump into events. TLDR: I'm essentially asking this question in order to get a general understanding on what people think: Would such an idea appeal to you as a player? Even if you don't play on Laurelin (though this is the server it's going to be for and the RP thing is a factor that most servers don't have). Discussion on raids, instances and how they relate to more casual players would also be nice to have. PS: If you would be interested in helping me in this and you play on Laurelin and you have a good understanding of the game and you can assist me in getting this thing off the ground. Or if you have any questions or just want to be frens! My discord is as follows: Alistair#7846 (please don't send me gifs of monkeys looking smug while being groomed and preened. do NOT do this!!) Alternatively, send me an in game mail to the name: Askelin. (do NOT send me a shitload of in game gold for free no scam promise! I would HATE that!) Or just hit me up on reddit DMs, (though I admittedly check this less) As always, all input, poll votes and discussion is appreciated! -Grot [link] [comments]

Anyone else feel like they can’t escape this game? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 05:25 AM PST I don't want this to sound weird, so I'll explain. I began LOTRO in 2009 when I was only a pre-teen, now I'm in my mid twenties. I'll go YEARS without playing and I'll get random flashbacks all the time because this game is peak nostalgia for me. I'll be somewhere irl and something will just bring me back to the good days of questing in Evendim, Dunland, Moria, Isengard, and even Forochel and many other regions. But now the level cap is so high and the legendary servers seem to be pretty barren, real life keeps me from having the time to dedicate the time to the game. I'm just wondering if anybody else feels like this? Every time I turn the game on I'm intimidated by the level cap, I have a few players in the 100s but that is far from 140. Thanks and I hope this mini rant doesn't sound weird, LOTRO just holds this special place in the deepest parts of my heart and it hurts that I may never be able to recapture it. Update: I have decided to play on Treebeard and get ready for the Moria release in January. I think that will be so fun playing it again like it's the first time with server. Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. Happy hunting and let's keep enjoying this game we all love [link] [comments]
Is there active PvP in LOTRO (EU) ? Posted: 12 Dec 2021 03:51 AM PST Hi guys. Im new to LOTRO. I just wonder to ask, is there still pvp in this game at 2021 ? When i check on youtube for osgiliath pvp almost cant find any video. Is there active pvp at the EU servers? (Im at the most populated server forgot the name :p) [link] [comments]
Who has gone all-in on Missions? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 12:24 PM PST I like Missions, especially how quick they are, but I always feel like I have too much to do to really commit to them. I wonder if any of you have truly gone "all in" on Missions. By that I mean that Missions are your primary way to play, including leveling up. What was the experience like? [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Dec 2021 10:21 AM PST Hello, LOTRO fans! In your opinion, which classes are, at this moment, the best DPS (Single Target and AOE), Tank and Healer classes with the current meta? Looking forward to read your thoughts! [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Dec 2021 11:03 AM PST I have various characters up to 129. I decided however to restart two characters who are each lvl 51. I see by pressing 'shift-I' there is a screen with 10 slots but no way to enter anything into slots. is this not in game? I also appraised some higher level weapons to get ancient script and made two new weapons for each class, but now I don't see any reason for more weapons as they don't level on the 7 slot screen we used to have to put LI's in. Is this correct? Once you have two weapons, just keep reforging every 5 levels, and not worry about extra weapons? Thanks all! [link] [comments]
A mission to bring good cheer bug? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 07:44 PM PST There is a yule festival quest called 'a mission to bring good cheer' where you need to complete one mission to finish the quest. But it looks like not all missions will complete this quest. I have tried 2 Kharum Ubnar missions and one mission from Further Adventures of Bilbo Baggins. None completed 'a mission to bring good cheer'. I don't have 3 Peaks or Gundabad so don't know about them. I tried one Wildwood mission in Trestlebridge and fortunately this one completed the quest. Is this a bug? Or did I miss anything? [link] [comments]
Making Lotro points is really hard in this game. Posted: 11 Dec 2021 05:35 AM PST Hello everybody i started game two weeks ago and im really having fun but making lotro points is really hard for me. I spent two or three days to buy mount skill and it was only 95 points. Is making lotro points become easier in time or is it always like this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Dec 2021 08:28 AM PST Some of the old legendary weapons had very unique looks like the hunter's bow of the third age that drops in early moria (the one with wings). Are these impossible to get now? Just interested in them for cosmetic reasons. [link] [comments]
Why does the shop think I don't own Beorning? Posted: 11 Dec 2021 08:26 AM PST It's just a little thing, of no importance but... it gets to me :) The ingame shop insists the only thing i don't own is the Beorning race. Even when I'm logged in on a Beorning, it shows in the shop as not owned! [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Dec 2021 04:54 AM PST Is anyone else experiencing this since today? Yesterday, everything was working fine. Today, I cannot play the game without it crashing every few minutes (on Belegaer). Are the servers busted because of the festival? [link] [comments] |
