| Need help with an MMORPG-related project Posted: 06 Dec 2021 08:08 AM PST Hi!! I am currently doing a research project for my PhD at the University of Barcelona. My thesis will be about identity exploration and online videogames. As someone who has dabbled in both the gaming and research worlds, I think the research being done on the field of gaming needs a lot of improvement, which is why I want to do my bit in making a more rigorous research on videogames that goes beyond the overdone topic "videogames good vs videogames bad". I really think that research on videogames can provide a lot more to the scientific community and society in general. I am currently looking for MMORPG players who might want to participate by completing a brief survey and answering some questions in an online interview (voice only). Although I still have quite a way to go, once I have finished the study, I could send you a brief report of my findings with a reference to the published paper in case any of you are interested. | Can't log in/weird problem getting into the game Posted: 06 Dec 2021 08:03 AM PST So I just wanted to get into the game and before the log-in tab appears where I need to put my password in, it says in red letters: Game Launch Failure Missing DLL: d3dcompiler_42.dll Missing DLL: d3dx10_42.dll Missing DLL: d3dx11_42.dll I haven't done anything on my computer since I last played. I tried logging in multiple times and it always says this. Now, sometimes when I shut off my laptop it updates some minor things (as windows 10 does) but that's never been an issue, been playing the game on this laptop the whole year. Downloaded and logged in today (coincidentally 10 years to the day I bought the game), there's one world with a character in it that my sister made. I think I last played 2015/16. Posted: 05 Dec 2021 06:28 PM PST Haven't kept up with the game in a long time and there are a ton of interviews and Q&A's, so I can't really watch them all due to limited time. Have the devs ever commented on the massive benefits you get for picking a certain race/class combo over another, both due to the racial traits and the favourable animations? Are they going to do a balance pass on this to make the race you choose more of a flavourable choice than feeling like you are gimping yourself if you go anything that isn't "the best".
