New player in love with the game.. except..

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 10:06 PM PST

Hey all! I just started LOTRO about a month ago and I've been having a blast. I've played just about every MMO out there, but really have been having a great time with this one. The only thing that is very frustrating for me, is just how easy the game is. :( I have played on the legendary servers and cranked up the difficulty, but something about that just bugs me /: I really just want to play on a normal live server like Arkenstone, but it's irritating to me that I'm 2 shotting mobs that are higher level than me. Is there any reason that they would make it like this? Does it get any harder?

I really don't want to quit playing this game, but if it's really just this easy I may have too.. :(

How do you guys deal with it? Doesn't it get frustrating not being able to even use half of your rotation before the mob is dead? /:

RP Community: Is there space for "100% chill" players ingame?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 02:35 AM PST

I've played LOTRO pretty much since the launch... but really sparsely, creating new characters, playing for the first few levels and going aways for months/years at a time.

I'm not really the ELITE CONTENT RUNNER as you guys can see, but I really love LOTRO for the Middle Earth immersion and vibe, I just love to wander my favorite places from the books and look at them.

So my question is: Is it worth to come back to the game just to, you know, RP as a Hobbit on the Shire and Bree, focus on Crafting (Farming and Cooking), having nice interactions in a Fellowship of like minded players...? Is there a community for that ingame? I'm really craving for this kind of experience but I don't know if it's realistic or not. Anyway, thanks in advance!

    In praise of Wildemore

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 01:51 AM PST

Just finished the main quest line of Wildemore and wanted to heap some praise on it. Such a well designed area, with a really interesting mystery and characters for the main plot line. It's a compact but varied and beautiful area and the story flows particularly well through the different way-points.

The only bit that wasn't brilliant was the woods at the end, which were a bit dense and hard to navigate, but that's a small thing and not a reason to avoid it.

I think Wildemore is an optional area and I kind of stumbled on it while recapping some epics, but it's really worth doing. It's like a standalone movie or something. Very well done devs!

SSG has Updated the Character Transfer : Bad News for Characters on Closed Servers

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 10:10 PM PST

Just tried the Transfer wizard again to see whether anything has been resolved with transferring characters from the closed servers. And it has ... for the worst ..

The closed servers are gone from the list. Completely. And there appears to be no hint of any of the options for free transfers either. Paid transfers from open servers only now.

This is not the update to the transfer service I was hoping for having recently returned to the game.

Has anybody seem any communications on this from SSG? It seems quite important and significant with so many people returning to the game after many years away.

Few questions about the content in-game.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 09:01 AM PST

Hi! I would like to ask a couple of questions.

I played LOTRO for the first time in 2018 (I even paid a month of VIP / bought the Rune-Keeper), but I only played around 20 hours, for some reason I did not like the game (I do not remember why)

A few days ago I was bored and I decided to give it another try and... Well I've been playing like 10h per day... LOL I'm in love with the game. (Lore master <3)

I was lucky enough to be able to use the code LOTROQUESTS2021 on the last day (Saw it here, thanks reddit!). And not only that, luckly i also had 800 points from when I played in 2018, so I bought all the expansion quests for 99 points.

    https://imgur.com/a/Hi6VYzc

    Here are the questions:

The expansion quests, are the whole expansion (Including dungeons, raids, etc) or only the missions?

After using the code and buying those expansion quests ... Could I go up to the max level?

How many hours of content do I have?

I am asking this because currently I'm not at my best moment financially speaking. And i cannot pay the monthly subscription, I rather to spend my money on more important things.

Sadly, I deleted all the characters I had, because I wanted to start from scratch, and I lost the character linked perks I had from when I was VIP, I thought it was bound to the account and not the characters :-(

    Thanks for reading me! <3

PD: Sorry for the grammar mistakes, english is not my native language.

Does anyone else feel the legendary servers are neglected?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 11:33 AM PST

It seems to me like the legendary servers are a huge opportunity for SSG, but they've managed to lose the vast majority of players who initially started on Anor/Ithil (and even Treebeard/Shadowfax at this point) because they've failed to do anything for these servers.

I know a lot of people are asking for a true classic server, but imo the best approach would be to do a quick content balance pass and some itemization tweaks so that players actually have something to do.

We are blocked from PvMP, and on Treebeard the content is just a complete joke. It should not be that hard to scale the raids in SoA and Moria so there are actually hard versions, and then do a quick itemization pass to give us rewards for doing them. You can even copy set bonuses from other level caps, it doesn't have to be perfect.

The reason the population on all the legendary servers keeps declining is because we don't have repeatable, challenging, and rewarding content. In fact we have none of the three, without PvMP, end game instances that actually require 1 person, and bis loot rewards that don't just come from random landscape drops and crafting then we don't really have an MMO.

It's so frustrating, wondering if anyone else is still sticking it out paying VIP and hoping that SSG finally puts some time and resources into these servers.

How much do I really have to spend to get to cap?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 06:22 AM PST

Hello! I am a returning player which quit around 2014. Have a lvl 74 Warden with no inventory space left so I'm thinking of starting over to get used to the game again.

I have until riders of rohan, I saw that alot of xpacs came since then. My question is: do I have to actually spend 30€ per every expansion? Or the level cap increase is global and I can get to higher level just with the 2021 quest packs and then buy one expansion that gives me the legendary items to work towards.

LOTRO upcoming upgrades (visual and modernizing the experience). What are your hopes?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2021 09:42 PM PST

I used to play on Landroval and loved the game when it came out. I loved it so much I actually got the lifetime sub founder's edition.

Now they have announced the major planned revamps, with enhanced visuals and a modernized experience.

What do you all hope for / expect from this? I'm keeping expectations low, but cautiously optimistic.

    Plugin help

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 01:03 PM PST

So, I've tried to install Alt Inventory and TitanBar. I figured the process would be similar to Elder Scrolls Online, since there's a Plugin folder, so I went into that folder, username, server, and unzipped the folders. But they don't seem to have any effect. Can anyone help?

Getting the Ale Association Goat at low level?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 04:46 AM PST

I want to get the Prized Ale Association Goat during Yule, but on a toon that isn't even level 20 yet. By my math and going by the info on the wiki, I could get the goat in 13 days without even bothering with the delivery quests which seem to go to areas up to level 40. My strategy is pretty much just doing everything except the deliveries each day. I guess my question is: Is the information on the wiki up to date? Since my strategy kind of relies on those numbers.

    How common are Instance groups?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2021 03:03 PM PST

I'm at the level 30 one, Garth agarwan or something like that.

I'm hoping to get a group to run it over the weekend as some exploration deeds for the area go there, and there's a ton of quests popping there.

I didn't have much luck finding people for the instanced barrows, so just wondering if they pop much? Or if I should just out level it and revisit in the future?

I didn't mind skipping the barrows and some of the other earlier ones as they seemed incidental, but this place seems fairly strongly tied in with the story so far; Ivar in particular, and I want to see what he's getting up to etc. šŸ™‚

(I'm on evernight in case anyone fancies teaming up to chill through them in the future.)

    Quest box appearance plugin?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2021 04:47 PM PST

I've recently gotten a new computer and the game is running 64. I like how it looks and how wide the screen looks now. I adjusted the sizes so they work for me. But I still have a hard time reading the quests because the world is so bright, I have a hard time distinguishing the text. Is there a way to adjust the opaqueness (or a plugin that does so) the way I'm able to adjust the opaqueness of the chat background?

It's annoying in most of the areas I've been in lately, but it was completely unreadable in Lothlorien (because of how beautiful and golden that area is)
