    Lockdown to Moria

Quarantined in a bedroom lived a man.

An Elf Lore Master in imagination, one who would help the Fellowship journey through perils to Durin's Door.

Six months in. Moria. I'm so happy.

I hope Middle Earth brings you this happiness too.

It is up to us to decide what to do with the time given us.

(@lotro) Server Instability: Thursday, August 20th. The game worlds are experiencing periods of server instability due to external issues outside of our control. We are taking steps to mitigate these environmental and infrastructure challenges, and apologize for any issues you encounter.

While the servers have been turned into lag factories, let's talk about your favorite questing zones and/or areas in the game! (for any reason under the sun)

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 06:24 AM PDT

    Simple time. My top 5.

    My #1 is Galtrev

You feel like you're in enemy-occupied territory and it turns out to be the absolute (secret?) best HUB in the entire game by far. It has all the amenities in a tight compact efficient space. I make sure all my characters have travel skills here. It is too damn good.

    My #2 is Evedim

Formerly Everswim. I really like this area for questing (from lvl 28~30 to 40!) but also the quick vault access (for Hunter/Warden) and the outside crafting (no load zone) with low population.

    My #3 is Lhingris

This is a weird one for sure. I just really enjoyed the quest chain here. Together with Legolas and Atli Spider-bane (First seen in the Breeland tutorial). Including the Tower of Cirith Ungol subterfuge. Great stuff. The highlight of the Mordor expansion.

    My #4 Woodhurst

The town is just so different from other places. In the grind that is West Rohan, this place stands out. It's my off-the-wall crazy choice but I just love the feel of it, and the quest undermines your assumptions.

    My #5 is Eregion

AKA the fast lane to Moria. I've always like this area as a bypass to the Angmar/Forochel rut. Both of those areas suffer from wide spaces with limited travel routes. Not here!

A Journey Through Middle-Earth - Episode 14: "I fear what lies cold and dead in Helegrod..."

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 05:30 PM PDT

"The Nazgƻl you drove off has fled the Trollshaws, he still schemes to assault Rivendell... the Dourhand Dwarf is with him."

Greetings to all fans of the fantasy genre, Middle-Earth and Lord of the Rings: Online! Or maybe you're not? Maybe you're looking to see how this game is going after 13 years? Fear no more - you've found the channel to follow!

We are a Lord of the Rings styled twitch podcast that plays through LOTRO and discuss Middle-Earth lore, music, gaming, sport and all sorts of other things! Just some blokes from NZ getting creative during quarantine.

Yesterdays episode saw the NazgĆ»l we drove off flee from the Trollshaws, but indeed he still schemes to assault Rivendell. There are whispers he has headed north-east in to the Misty Mountains. We were tasked to meet with GlĆ³in, who has a camp set up there - he told us that the goblins seem very active of late, and that he would not be surprised if the NazgĆ»l we are pursuing were the cause.

GlĆ³in, however, was given another task by the Dwarf-King Dain - to track down the Dourhands' last refuge. The scout seemed to have found it, as there were a large number of Dourhands around an old dwarf-fortress called Gabilazan.

We were tasked with finding a key to unlock the back way into the Dourhand keep. From there we were able to confront both the Nazgƻl and the Dourhand leader, Skorgrƭm, who has been our nemesis since the start of the play through! The task was indeed a great one and indeed the defeat of the Dourhands' a great boon to Durin's Folk - so Gloin sent with us his son, Gimli, to help defeat the Enemy.

In a tense ending to the Skorgrim saga, we were able to infiltrate the Dwarfish stronghold and defeat SkorgrĆm... but a fell spirit emerged from his corpse and cursed the Longbeards before vanishing...

After the defeat of Skorgrim, Gloin shared with us the dark tale of the fall of Helegrod:

"If you have a moment, allow me to tell you some of the tale of Helegrod, the ruins of which lie north of here. The tale may shed light on what the Rider seeks to accomplish, though I cannot guess what that might be. Helegrod was delved beneath the mountain of Orod Lostol; it remained the northern-most outpost of Khazad-dƻm for long years.

"Mithril was never found there, but a good many other stones and riches were. Those riches drew a dragon to Helegrod. Thorog, he was named; he slew all the dwarves and made his bed in Helegrod's treasury.

"In Khazad-dƻm, which the Elves call Moria, Durin marshalled a company of dwarves to journey to Helegrod and slay the beast. Thorog was defeated, but Durin was slain by the dragon's dying breath. He was the fifth of that name; the next, too, had a sad end, but I will not speak of that now.

"Dwarves sought to reclaim Helegrod in the years that followed, but death hung heavy over that place and they abandoned the halls and removed Helegrod's riches to Khazad-dƻm.

"I do not know what the Rider might seek to gain by taking to Helegrod. Perhaps he simply wants to fortify it, but I would wager there is more to this deed than we can see."

And thus Skorgrim Dourhand has fallen... but the Enemy has more sinister plans with that Mountain, and what lie's within.

...and that's where we continue today as we carry on with Book 5 from The Lord of the Rings: Online on today's play-through & Twitch podcast. We'd love you to join us today, as we look to hit 50 followers of the channel. Come, hang out, join in the chat and let's explore the world we love together.

Volatile Goblins and Blue Sorcerers question

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 12:43 AM PDT

I'm slightly overlevel (these guys were green to me) so I wasn't watching my morale very closely. But bam - after sorcerers killed me twice I started paying more attention so I could take pots or use a self-heal skill.

Is there something I should be doing for them not to keep almost killing me? I'm past the sorcerer zone now, but the volatile goblins (I'm in the Iron Pit at the moment) are worse. At least I can see their debuff but I can't do anything about it (so far as I know).

The best I could think of at the time was to hit them from a distance until they threw/cast their fire, and then it was safe to kill them in close (I"m a champion - my bow doesn't hit very hard).

I was just about done with the Iron Pit so I probably don't need specific tactics for the goblins - but if there continues to be mobs that do this in future zones... Is there some kind of gear or potion I haven't noticed that I should have? Since I level slow and tend to be over-leveled, I really don't usually pay a lot of attention to gear and potions because I rarely have to (saving it as an end game concern). Wondering if there's some mitigation gear I should start keeping on hand.

Maintenance from 6 AM to 3 PM for what?? At least I take comfort in knowing they are “investigating issues at our data center”

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 03:17 AM PDT

    Sorry for mobile format

I wish this company could at least be a little more transparent with the players. Getting a little ridiculous the only messages we ever receive are cookie cutter copy and paste explanations. A realistic time table or what the hell they are investigating would be awesome, actually being able to play the game after a 9 hour down time would be even better!

    Servers?

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 07:49 PM PDT

Are people in the game at the moment? My client keeps failing at authentication. I'm just wondering if I should stop trying.

Can't buy VIP, Tried using LOTRO market, now out 30 bucks

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 05:54 AM PDT

not sure if any Devs or SSG travel this circle but Im trying to resubscribe LOTRO on steam,

I log in, and then click become VIP, It asks me for my steam login, I put it in, and then it refreshes and asks for it again, this happens no matter what I try to buy, so I'm tried using the lotro market, after buying the 30 dollar card, they took my Money but didn't give me the card (Yet) in my email, but at time of writing I did get a strange email, that said SSG will be in touch,

Does anyone else have this problem?
