LOTR is for me, the greatest book series I've ever read, the greatest movie series I've ever seen. But I have heard terrible things about LOTRO. So, 3 questions:

I never played lotro so I have pretty simple question to anyone that is familiar with both books and game itself (and by books I mean any short stories and other strange stuff that is canon - not lotr and hobbit that most people read). Question: Does game contain any relevant canon lore that was mentioned in books? Showed in fancy quests or mentioned by NPCs? Posted: 26 Jul 2020 10:46 PM PDT Today when I tried to log on to one of my crafters, I had been online for a while before hand, I got stuck on a loading screen until eventually I got the message "The connection to the server has been lost". It then quit me out of the game. I would get to the character selection screen but I kept getting stuck trying to log into characters. After leaving the game for a couple of hours and coming back I was finally able to log in. Now after about 10 minutes of play my character just stops moving then eventually I get the same message. Has anyone encountered this recently and know of any way to get the game running smoothly? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:19 PM PDT I first started in 2007, do right after beta. When I first hit moria I was poor. Was randomly gifted 20 gold I thought I was rich. Now game economics has changed I discovered there is a market for stupid stuff like cosmetic pets. The free ones in midsummer you can get just by playing. Are selling hot. I saw postings for 100 gokd. I am like they are free. I posted 4 at 30 gold a pop. They were gone in 10 minutes. I am flabbergasted, I may need grind it bit more and save a few for after the festival. [link] [comments] | ||

| Help a new player with "coupon code" Posted: 26 Jul 2020 01:55 PM PDT So... this article got me interested in trying the game out again. I haven't played it since like 2008. So I made a new account and the game is downloading. Now what? I don't see anywhere to put in this coupon code. I also don't see anywhere that I can log in on the website, besides the forums. And in the forums, it's not letting me log in anyway (404 error after logging in). Also, are all of those expansions on sale for "99 points" yet (whatever that means). I started anew with a new Hunter which I love playing, but I still had a bunch of LP from when I quit and I also have already unlocked a bunch of the usual unlocks. Now I'm wondering what to spend my LP on next, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated! The unlocks I already have are: All unlocks you get from being a VIP I've seen talk about crafting carry-all bags, and personally the Journeyman riding seems interesting but not sure if they are worth getting. | Unofficial discord invite expired? Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:05 AM PDT The link on the sidebar, discord.me/LotROdiscord, returns "(The invite is invalid or expired.)" when I try to use it in Discord. With the world chat channels down, I wanted to ask about where I could find all the expansion content I have unlocked. The store doesn't show anything under Quest Packs or Expansion content, but I don't remember buying anything after maybe Mirkwood (highest character level is 70 and I was saving up for the next QP to push its level higher). Unfortunately, I have been stymied by being unable to find a valid invite to the LOTRO discord. If anyone knows the answer to that question too, it would be helpful. [link] [comments] | ||

Started in a legendary server and have gotten through the starting area and quests but I can't seem to find any other players? I got into this game because I heard the community was fantastic and I love LOTR. Have I picked a dead server? Should I go to a normal one as opposed to legendary to group up with others? | "Failed to load patchclient" error Posted: 26 Jul 2020 05:43 AM PDT Just thought I'd play LOTRO after a two year hiatus, and I'm getting this error at the start menu screen/box/whatever it is: Failed to load patchclient [Cannot load library patchclient: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.] I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it's still like this.
