Changes I'd like to see from June

    Posted: 17 May 2020 08:11 AM PDT

Since the free content ends end of May, I think it'd be a good time for SSG to change how things work a bit, make the game more modern in terms of monetisation and more appealing to new players.

The game has had probably 3x more players than before (based on Evernight population) and I think most of them will leave if nothing changes.

A couple of things I'd do:

    • Make VIP include all content in the game except the current expansion (like ESO).

    • Include previous expansions when you buy the current expansion (like almost any MMO).

    • Make all the original pre-Moria content free to everyone and no longer purchasable.

    • Make VIP more attractive all round by adding stuff that doesn't depend on content, e.g. a small discount to store purchases, access to vault from anywhere (like mail), or small boosts that don't give any real gameplay advantage.

By doing this the game would be hugely more accessible to new players and people who are at cap would have more reason to subscribe and would be more encouraged to buy cosmetic items, etc.

    Quick question on beorning healer

    Posted: 17 May 2020 11:53 PM PDT

I've recently got to level 130 on my bear and want to take part in the Remmorchant raid. Is it best to focus on might or will when healing, and how do you decide which essences to use? Thanks

Critic Heal Build - should I change it?

    Posted: 18 May 2020 12:48 AM PDT

Hello, dear community. I am a tiny miny (actually, 106 lvl) minstrel from Laurelin. Just curious if does it worth to keep critic healer build on high or I should change it and get useful tools from yellow tree after recent changes?

    Thanks in advance!

3 Questions in regards of the monetization systems of lotro

    Posted: 17 May 2020 09:58 AM PDT

    Tl;Dr:

    1. How excatly does the shop system work (especially witht he VIP System)?
    2. Is lotro P2W?
    3. And can you really get every expansion in the In-Game Shop or do i need to by additional expansion through the lotro store page?

    Hello folks,

i'm completely new to lotro and to be honest not really experienced with a lot of mmo's (the only MMO's i seriously played longer as 5h+ were Ultima Online and Legends of Aria), so I'm a legit noob with the stereotypical questions. Though I'm not someone who dont want to spend money on a good MMO.After 2 days of learning what the game actually wants from me and reading a tons of guides i'm finally ready to evolve into the epic realms of lvl 3... at least thats what i thought hours ago but i have questions that bugs me.

    1. How excatly does the shop system work?
    2. Is lotro P2W?
    3. And can you really get every expansion in the In-Game Shop or do i need to buy additional expansion through the lotro store page?

1 - I'm little bit confused with the amount of monetization systems lotro offers. First of all you have the VIP Option, to be a vip gives someone some benefits like the ones listed here. But as far as i can see it a lot of these benefits (or all of them) are purchasable through the ingame shop of lotro with the lotro points (or whatever you call them). To purchase them in the ingame shop enables these features permanatly, so logical ther should be a point where it's cheaper to buy them in the ingame shop and not to get the VIP subscription, am i right or did i forget something or undestand something wrong?

And i thought the Currency Cap were 5g, right now i have 2g and already have money in the currency overflow

2 - I read in guides and saw in the ingame shop that i can purchase things with lotro points that advance your stats. As far as i know (not the most knowledgable mmo player though) isnt this p2w? Spending x amount of money to get x amount of benefits or is this in someways caped that you cant get overpowered? I know in lotro exists stat caps so perhaps this is how they regulate it. Or is the ingame shop more or less like any other shop (like the other npc shops), since one can get lotro points by simply playing the game or have the vip status so that one person earns enough of lotro points to get the essential ingame shop benefits for a hard dungeon/instance. Sorry for the confusing formulation, thanks to my language barrier and the overall confusion from my side i'm unable to construct these sentences better :(

3 - In my bubble Lotro was always known for the expansions and that you can play lotro completely for free (if you wanna spend a very long time in grinding the lotro points) since you can buy every expansion in the ingame shop. Even a reddit thread from the end of 2019 said you could buy every expansion ingame but as i checked the ingame shop for the expansions i only saw three expansion packs there to buy, as far as i know lotro should have seven expansion packs. At least you can buy seven packs on the lotro page. And two of the three expansion are in the quad pack for under 40 bucks. Was it possible to buy every expansion in the past and right now isn't possible anymore or am i messing something up?

Sorry for the long and hard to read wall of text and thanks in advance for reading until this point. I hope some of you can answer my questions

    Minas Tirith missing plaque.

    Posted: 17 May 2020 05:56 PM PDT

I've been trying to finish the line of kings deed in Minas Tirith and I only need the plaque for King Aldamir. Lotro Wiki says it should be in the 4th Tier at 64.6S, 19.6W but I do not see it. I see the other plaques that are supposed to be in the area but not that one. I've looked around, on top of the walls and behind buildings, I have logged off and back on more than once yet still I do not see it.

It could be that the coordinates that Lotro-Wiki gives are wrong, they have them written as 64.6S, 19.6S but I figured the S instead of a W was just a typo.

    LOTRO shuts off all sounds?

    Posted: 17 May 2020 03:14 PM PDT

This happens pretty much every time I play about 1-2 hours into the play session.

I'll be playing and all of a sudden the game will lose frames for about 2-5 seconds (ping and server connection is fine) and all sound will disappear. The kicker is that ALL sound on my PC disappears (youtube, music, apps, other games). My PC is completely silent until I close LOTRO completely, at which point audio starts playing on PC as usual. I'm guessing LOTRO is affecting my speakers or something in order to stop all audio on the PC (not just LOTRO's audio). The weird thing is that it occurs after a prolonged play session and not when I start it up. When I lose audio, my windows volume mixer indicates that nothing has changed (no apps or sounds are muted). Changing audio outputs (both in-game and on the desktop) does absolutely nothing. No sound comes through anywhere until LOTRO is closed. This happens regardless of my audio output that I choose when I start the game (speakers or headset).

Currently I have two audio outputs:

Klipsch Speakers connected via Dragonfly DAC Amp.

Razer wireless headset managed by Razer Synapse.

Any idea when they will come back? Thinking of returning but my toons are lost to time and guess that's the only way to retrieve them.

Do you have to spend Anniversary Tokens before the event ends? Or are the vendors available after?

    Posted: 17 May 2020 11:56 AM PDT

This is my first event, I just started playing last month. I've been doing the anniversary events and have about 120 Tokens. I already bought one of the horses. Can I spend the Tokens after the event ends, or do the vendors disappear? If I don't spend them, are they good next year at the anniversary again?

Hello there, my game crashes when I try to change the resolution. My graphic card is on the latest driver and my hardware is by far good enough. Did anyone suffer that and knows how to solve it? Win10, 64 but, ageforce GTX 1660 MaxQ, 16gb ram...
