After months of trying, finally get to play again

    Posted: 12 Feb 2022 02:51 AM PST

Been trying since November to get back on, didn't remember the password but no matter what search engine I tried from, could never get an email letting me reset my password. After seeing so many posts about not getting any tickets answered, finally was desperate enough to try and ask for help. Surprisingly, actually got a quick response, a temporary password to log on and reset it, and now I get to play again! So happy because that is several months of a paid sub, and also been getting into LoTR again recently

What weapon for a Dwarf Guardian?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 04:38 PM PST

It might be dumb, but I like axes better than sword for dwarves, except that it seems that Swords are the go to weapon for Guardians because of the 1% parry chance it adds.

So is it really mandatory to use the sword, or is it still relevant to use an axe as a tank?

    Good outfits for a Beorning?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 04:09 PM PST

I'm one of those folks who likes my character to look good while leveling. What are some good outfits to look out for while leveling my Beorning?

Is Weaponsmith relevant when there's Legendary Items?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 11:48 AM PST

I'm getting back to my old Guardian Weaponsmith lvl50, and I feel like it's pointless to level up this as it's not going to be useful anyway.

Think about it, it feels like only Jeweler, Scholar and Cook are good workmanship in the end.

    What do you think?

    Retaking Pelargir

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 08:00 AM PST

I've recently come back to LoTRO from when max level was 65. I quested 2 characters through Rohan and when it came to Helms Deep I chose the storyline option instead of the Epic Battle version.

Now I'm at Retaking Pelargir with both characters and I'm kinda at a loss on what to do. I haven't done a single Epic Battle so I don't have any of these skill points, and I'm not excited about the prospect of having to grind tons of EB's for skill points just so I can complete one Epic quest line mission.

It looks like my options are either grinding skills for EB's or asking for help in global chat.

Any advice or information will be greatly appreciated.

I'm on Landroval if anyone is wondering.

And I'll leave you with an old video I made of the Moors in 2010

Good interview between LOTRO Producer Raninia and u/bludborn1

    Posted: 10 Feb 2022 10:06 PM PST

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1294045155?t=00h08m14s

I was very impressed by both u/bludborn1 guiding the discussion and Raninia's candid conversation.

I think people have been slamming really hard on Raninia, but he seems like a thoughtful person who owns up to both what the game does well and where it needs improvement (and where he can do better).

He is also in a challenging position -- he needs to appease multiple different groups of critical players and he needs to make sure the game continues to generate enough money to pay the team members and license fees. That is his job -- not to make money for himself (it's not like microtransactions go into his wallet) but to keep the team employed and the game going. All as a rather new game producer who is also new to LOTRO and catching up on all the existing systems and their history (it would seem a lot of the old stuff is not fully documented).

I do not sense anything disingenuous about him in this interview.

I think he's doing well, and he has put a lot of time into engaging with players and listening to them. The fact that the Ember change was reverted should make people feel better. He took the time to try and explain their motivation, and when he realized they had some misses, both in terms of communication and how the system would actually play out, they backed off. So many games make changes in spite of player feedback.

Also remember that Raninia as producer is responsible for a lot more game (and players) than just that end-game of T3-T5 instances and those that grind them.

Finally, it was nice to see Raninia's home bedroom, complete with lots of nerd stuff and a cat. He's a person, just like the rest of us. Try to remember that.

In the spirit of Tolkien's work, let's give the guy some room to adapt to the role and the challenges it brings.

Question for those who got Mines of Moria: Complete Edition

    Posted: 11 Feb 2022 03:51 AM PST

For those of you who frequent the main sub here, you may have noticed recently that there's an interesting series of boxed editions of LOTRO that have been highlighted.

One of those is Mines of Moria: Complete Edition. This got me thinking about the key within the box. We know it's a Turbine version, not Codemasters, and the key will still work. The question is what still works? What items are still awarded?

Can anyone who's got one after 2008 (i.e. after pre-ordering) please post what items they got?

And if they got it in more recent years and entered the key, even better.

As a comparison I bought a still sealed copy of a slightly different version, but still got the Cloak of the Sunset and Moria Expeditionary title, years after the pre-order period.

Do you think they will bring the questing coupon back at some point?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2022 06:55 PM PST

I'd fallen off with keeping up to date on LOTRO, although I've always wanted to resume where I left off and finish off the epic story quest.

I heard about the free questing coupon stuff they did only just now. What do people think on chances it will return as an incentive to "catch people up" to the new content and get the playerbase revitalized? A few montsh later, did it work to bring any of you back?

What's the best server for PvMP?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2022 02:23 PM PST

    Returning player, questions about Ettenmoors...

    Posted: 10 Feb 2022 12:41 PM PST

    1. Do I have to be a VIP to get into Ettenmoors as a human, or can I buy an expansion for this?

    2. Also, do I have to be in an organized guild to enjoy it? Or are there random zergs I can join and fight agins monsters? I am server EU Evernight.

Last I played this game was 2008, I am overwhelmed by all the new expansions, currencies and zones now... Need some general help. I just want to quest in the old zones and do spontaneous PvM.

Request: video of someone carrying a training-dummy

    Posted: 10 Feb 2022 08:37 AM PST

A long tima ago someone posted a video where they carried the training dummy from an Oatbarton/Northcotton Farm quest all over the game. Does any of the dear gamers here remember who made it and perhaps have a link available?
EDIT It was HD! Thanks u/Thimbur https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SvBb_KMcPc
    An awesome feat.

    ISO Chat Window Mods

    Posted: 10 Feb 2022 07:15 AM PST

Is anyone aware of any mods for the Chat Window? I've done as much as I can with the tools native to the game to make it less visually intrusive, but I still find it somewhat irritating. I would love to be able to hide it completely or somehow opt to have it "paneled" such that when I receive a message I get an alert in the alerts panel that opens a "chat panel" to view the message. Since that's not an option presently, it would be nice to be able to customize the chat tabs (color, size, position, text, etc.) and be able to pin it to the very bottom-left of the screen (it always pops out of place when I log out and back in). It would also be nice for the background opacity to change depending on whether the chat is in use or not. TIA!
