Which difficulty setting should I select on Treebeard? Posted: 07 Jan 2022 07:15 AM PST This is all very foreign to me, I just completed the intro and just dinged level 5. I plan on doing MOST quests but I'm not sure I want to be held down to doing every. single. quest. I come across just to stay afloat if that makes sense. So I ask you... what difficulty setting is recommended for the situation described above? At first I was one-shotting everything but even now at level 4-5 I've noticed a significant change in the time to kill mobs (mean dourhands as an example). Bonus question: I've never liked crafting or the grind to collect mats. Can I skip crafting/gathering for now or am I losing out on something big (xp/progression etc)? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jan 2022 10:45 AM PST 1) The Gandalf quest that immediately sends you to Rivendell. Once there, the quest entry was still as it was before -- telling me to talk to Strider at the Prancing Pony, etc. I tried talking to Gandalf in Bilbo's room, but he couldn't be interacted with. I cancelled it. Now there's nothing at all in the quest log, Strider's room is locked, and Gandalf is no longer in his room at the Pony. So I guess that's it, huh? 2) Some quest about Heartwood; there's an item I picked up in Trollshaws. Says it starts a quest. But it doesn't. And no, I don't already have the quest, nor have I already completed it. 3) How do I target an enemy right in front of me? Instead it targets other enemies, often the farthest away, and sometimes behind walls / hills. 4) I'm a LM. My pet will often only attack once or twice, then return to me, despite the enemy not being dead. [link] [comments]

Does customer support always take forever to reply or do they just not like me? Posted: 07 Jan 2022 12:32 AM PST I've been having issues getting the game to launch, tried a bunch of different articles with fixes and none of them worked. How long does standing stone take to reply normally? [link] [comments]

Upgrade to Ultimate from collectors? Minas Morgul Posted: 07 Jan 2022 07:40 AM PST Simple question, anybody know if there's an option in the market or in-game to upgrade my collectors edition Minas Morgul expansion to the Ultimate fan bundle? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jan 2022 07:25 AM PST Housing writs are on sale this week, so I was wondering if anyone knew what the costs were for the Erebor houses in writs. I've seen the mithril coin prices, but not the writs. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Did I make a mistake with Brawler? Posted: 07 Jan 2022 12:16 AM PST I have been current up to war of three peaks. Main was a guardian tank since Moria launch. Got excited when I saw a new class and jumped on it once the expansion launched. Enjoying the class as redline and landscape 130+ is not stressful. I see multiple post on it with players describing that outside of landscape it is not viable for endgame. Anyone actually experiencing any success with this class at endgame or should I switch to a different class? [link] [comments]
New Player Perspective of LOTRO Posted: 07 Jan 2022 08:28 AM PST I wanted to share my experience with Lord of the Rings Online in the veils of a new player and what new players might taste when they first enter this old MMO. I've been an avid fan of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit ever since I read The Hobbit in 6th grade for a class, the world Tolkien designed appealed to me like no other fantasy medium. It was a magnificent experience following the journey of Bilbo, and later the fellowship of the ring and Aragorn's ascension into Kinghood. It made me, a kid, feel no matter your background, that you can be a hero and change things for the better, that hope was inherent in all of us. That feeling of exploration, facing off against evil, the value of friendship, and love of landscapes. I thought the MMO could give me some of that since it's practically the only game that allows you to explore Tolkien's middle earth. I did not feel the same way when I played this MMO. The micro-transactions really turned me off. The notion that they would immerse a new player in this IP when there are several advertisements in the store before you even get in the game is ludicrous. After playing for several hours, exploring the Bree, the shire, and elsewhere, I felt out of place. Combat is extremely janky. Most moves are not fluid at all, something that most MMOs have already mastered at making smooth. It feels like my character is a mannequin with no soul. The server performance does not help at all, there are points where I lag and I'm still getting hit by a creep but I can't react. It lags for whatever reason. The game is scarcely populated. I don't expect that level of lag comparable to 50 vs 50 world PVP sessions in WOW. During festivals in FFXIV, I get less lag. What a disservice to such a fantastic IP, which story puts those other two MMOs to shame. Everything I touch on the messy UI has a micro-transaction attached to it. Wanna travel to your quest right away? Pay me money. Wanna ride a mount? Pay me money. Want better stats? Yeah, that's right, pay me money. Want expansions? You have to pay for each or grind out your deeds like a pleb. I get that it's free, but the selling point of the game should be the game itself, not the perks that come with it. I don't want to feel pressured to fork out cash, I would have paid sub from the get-go just for the chance to explore middle earth done right, well it's not done right, it's cheap, unmotivated molasses of garbage called middle earth. I'm more irritated because they gave the license with such disdain for the original work to a company that wasn't prepared to showcase the beauty of Tolkien's work. The community itself was eye-opening, I ask if hunters used pets (wow does, so does Guild wars 2) I was met with sarcasm and disrespect, you can't grow a game that way. Then comments upon comments of how WOW is bad and LOTRO is better (okay, weird flex), well here's a reality check. LOTRO is not good, it just isn't. WOW from a development standpoint is far superior despite how much I hate Blizzard and its terrible practices. Classic WOW is still superior by every metric of performance. You can't recruit new players with this type of system and attitude, the beautiful story is wrapped with soiled bacon. Why would any new player want to experience that? Why no update to the engine? Why does it feel like I have 20 frames with 500 ping in certain areas? Why are some quests so buggy? Oh, the company is tiny. Why was it rewarded with a license then? Even if the company was too small to do the job, it doesn't update the UI? A kid in high school programming class can produce a better UI. This IP could have been done much better in better hands, at least with a development studio that has a passion for Tolkien's work and not succumbed itself to scummy microtransaction practices that are usually practiced by Asian MMOs. Tolkien's story deserves better. I leave the game with disappointment and jaded because a world of middle-earth MMO done right may never come to fruition. Especially with stains like this on the market. If LOTRO believes it can continue to thrive on whales saving their game, then it'll continue to suffer further irrelevance and corruption akin to Gollum's obsession with the one ring and his eventual demise minus the destruction of the ring.
