I don't have a huge amount of time and so will only be levelling my main character. Everything I've read says just make your main an explorer and alts for crafting but the info is all a few years old. I stopped playing when my first daughter was born, but now that I have more hobby time on my hands I realized how much I missed playing. I really love the lore of Middle Earth and am thinking of replaying the game from level 1 to experience it all over again, especially now that I'm WFH 100% and just built a new gaming rig. Any recommendations on characters and servers to start all over again with? Is archer still a character some kins avoid playing with (there were too many?). I'm not looking to play a lot with others, but I believe the epic quest storyline requires it to finish the game? I'm willing to pay for a subscription this time around. Can you level in this game only through instances? Is it viable way in lotro? And what content we can clear with our group of 5? Fellowships or do we need to look for one more every time? Are we able to clear some 12 person content with 5 or are those too hard? Usually we make "solo" character too to craft and gather and such activities. Hobbits Online Posted: 16 Dec 2021 09:58 AM PST This post isn't much more than a fun little story. A group of my friends have been doing quizzes, Jackbox, and other virtual hangouts for the last couple of years, for obvious reasons. I should point out that a lot of the people in this group don't really play video games, although some do, and most aren't super into the lord of the rings, although some are. During the course of these hangouts, which we would have about once a week, various inside jokes have developed. At one point during a quiz, one of my questions involved a screenshot from lotro. Someone made a joke (without knowing the name of the game) calling it hobbits online. Since then hobbits online has been a staple inside joke for this group, being brought up relatively frequently in conversation, and it's even featuring in a Christmas crossword that one of them is making. I have neither the heart nor the desire to tell them the truth. That's literally it. I just thought people on this sub might be interested to know that somewhere out there in this grand old world of ours is a group of 15 or so pals who, although they've never played it, are acutely aware of this game's existence, talk about it often, and know it only as "Hobbits Online". submitted by /u/steve_ideas [link] [comments]

Instances/Skirmishes: Farming Marks vs Farming Experience Posted: 16 Dec 2021 03:37 PM PST So, I'm not sure if it works this way, but I suppose if you want to farm experience you should focus on doing instances with higher levels whereas if you want to farm marks or medallions you should probably focus on higher size? Is it just me? (Brawler & Experience rant) Posted: 16 Dec 2021 01:36 PM PST I've been on and off with LOTRO since launch, my highest toon hitting 105 on Landroval before taking an extended break, but held on to my VIP status. Jumped back in once Anor launched, but more because of the reduced experience gain more than anything else. IMO, the experience gain on the live servers accelerates way too quickly, especially with the additional daily VIP boost. And it annoys me that Stone of The Tortoise is a paid item (albeit an inexpensive one). I recall EQ2 allowed paid memberships to turn experience on and off as needed, which is something I'd love LOTRO to consider. Anyway, left Anor once Treebeard opened since Anor population dwindled and, honestly, worried what happens to Anor when it catches up to the live servers. I'm digging the relaxed mode of Treebeard and even further reduced experience gain, so decided to roll my first Brawler on Treebeard. Totally enjoying this class, especially on Deadly...but then started working on the Evendim armor set, only to learn that there's nothing there for Brawlers. Will this be an issue with class-restricted armor sets in other regions? I've always dug the look of the Evendim set, so a little bummed that nothing new was created for Brawlers. (I know I could always use any set as cosmetic, but Brawlers gloves...man, those are sweet and would have been cool to see what could be done with a set.) Now I'm thinking of ditching Treebeard and just heading back to Landroval, but torn on giving up the reduced experience gain and difficulty slider. Ugh.
