    Looking for Kin (Arkenstone)

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:06 AM PST

It's been awhile since I logged in but imagine my surprise when I read "you have been kicked from your kin", only to find that my Kin is no more. I'm a long time player 11+years and have a lifetime subscription so I tend to come and go as I please. I have 3 characters at cap with decent LIs but nothing special. I have 7 more characters at 105+. I once had all 10 at level cap (105). I don't have the energy to work on 20+ LIs. The holidays are coming up and the Yule Festival is one of my favorites. I may work on leveling another character.

Sorry, rambling there. As the post mentions I'm looking for a friendly and active kin on Arkenstone, the game just seems more enjoyable in a kin. I'm a mature gamer, usually on in the evenings (CST), I've always wanted to raid but never got up the courage. My main is a dwarf Guardian, I'd love to find a kin that is willing to help a noobie.

EG7 is planning a technical and visual upgrade for LOTRO and a potential console port.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 02:59 PM PST

Be sure to check out MassivelyOP's article which has a great breakdown of everything here. Not just for LOTRO, but DDO and the other games in Daybreak's stable.

But as to the general facts:

EG7 has published a presentation to investors concerning the purchase of Daybreak. In it, it describes the present state of all of the games under Daybreak and, by extension, SSG. This notably includes: subscriber numbers, the total active playerbase, player conversion rates, and annual revenue.

Be sure to check out the article or presentation if you're interested, but the big facts concerning LOTRO:

    • Daybreak does, in fact, own SSG and has owned them essentially since they left WB Games/Turbine in 2016. Not sure what the particulars are or if it's a unique agreement, but Jack Emmert (CEO of Dimensional Ink Games and co-founder of Cryptic Studios) is most certainly the CEO of SSG.

    • LOTRO presently maintains 100k+ active monthly users, with a conversion rate to VIP of 40%.

    • One slide details plans for upgrading LOTRO in 2022 to capitalize on the upcoming LOTR TV show from Amazon:

2022: LOTRO UPGRADE - Planning visual and technical upgrades for LOTRO for PC and nextgen consoles to capitalize on Amazon's highly publicized large investment (~$500mm) in LOTR TV series.

    • One slide seems to indicate a legal restructuring of sorts. Darkpaw Games (Everquest 1 & 2) will become the overseeing studio of both Dimensional Ink Games (DC Universe Online) and SSG.

Can’t open the store in game?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 07:59 AM PST

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've played and I recently got a new laptop. Lotro is installed and running nicely but every time I try to open the store in game the window is either black or a grayish blue and won't load anything.

Is this a setting I've overlooked or something that everyone is having trouble with? I've kept my subscription running all this time and I'd like to at least be able to use some of the points.

LOTRO download on Mac: I open the LOTRO client, then it just opens this python terminal and nothing happens I have restarted, re downloaded, and freed up a lot of space on the computer. Any help is welcome, please. It used to run fine on this computer, but I uninstalled it a few years ago.

Yesterday we got the announcement that Lotro is aiming for release on nextgen consoles in 2022 (among other interesting revelations).

What do you think? What would SSG have to do to make it work?

Hello, new player here I have some questions regarding expansions and Free to play.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 07:46 PM PST

    Hello there

So I just installed Lotro, spent about 3 days making my character (as it usually goes) and I think I'm ready to start playing. Although I've been told there is quite a lot to do as a free to play player I was wondering if maybe someone here could give me a sort of a map to show how I should be buying expansion packs and just how much of free to play do I get. Also what are some of the benefits of purchasing a subscription?

Help - What am I missing?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 03:13 PM PST

Hey guys, I played this game in 2008 and got back into Tolkien stuff, so wanted to see if it was viable in 2020. I purchased the quad expansion pack, and tried applying the code on the account page and I'm told it's not valid. I tried logging in with the windows client and it says I don't have a subscription. I thought this game was free to play?

What am I missing? Do I need to purchase game time of some sort?

Purchasing a key takes 48 hours?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 01:05 PM PST

I've bought a key at lotro market. After 30 minutes I got an email that says it'll take 48 hours for further informations. Why does this take so long? It's a digital key. Every other website I've bought keys from delivered within seconds.
