The Black Book of Mordor is running me all over the place Posted: 19 Nov 2020 03:16 PM PST I was so stoked to walk into Mordor, and it didn't disappoint. There's this super cool power struggle going on that I'm really excited to see play out. And then I get sent up north. I was annoyed, but then it started getting really good, so I didn't care. The dwarf holds are amazing. Then just as things are starting to heat up, I get sent to... The Vales. And now I'm picking mushrooms and collecting honey for bears. I really hope things get more interesting in the Vales soon, and that we'll get back to the cool questlines from Mordor and the dwarf holds. This is going slooooowly. And bears are freaking lazy. A tip for Stoll/Race through the haunted burrow Posted: 19 Nov 2020 09:31 AM PST I realize this is a bit late, but I only saw someone else doing the quest today and it occurred to me. I imagine most people use the same loop I do: Attic, Cobwebbed Wing, Creeping Wing, Basement. The Cobwebbed Wing is the most annoying, because when you get ganked by the spider it's basically a knockdown and you're stuck for ~5 seconds and slowed for another ten. When you're in the Attic heading for the bones, avoid the shadow puddle... but once you've gotten them, when you're heading for the Attic exit make sure to head back and let yourself get clipped by the puddle. It'll slow you for just a second if you get the corner, and then head for the exit. Head straight for the Cobwebbed Wing. If you can zone in fast enough you'll find the spider won't get you. You'll be able to get the Cobwebbed proof and probably get to the exit without getting knocked down. Why? Because getting hit with a "spookiness" effect gives you a brief, hidden immunity. If you got hit with spookiness constantly inside the Burrow nobody would do it, and people would hate the devs even more than they already do. So by deliberately choosing a minor effect you can avoid the more annoying one. This depends a lot on your zone-in speed... the counter keeps going down while the loading screen is up. So people still running on HDDs might find they can't make use of this to any real effect. But if you're on a decent PC with an SSD you should notice a difference. Again, a bit late in the festival to benefit many people, but maybe something to remember for next year. [link] [comments]

What's the deal with EU servers? [Returning player needs advice] Posted: 19 Nov 2020 07:06 AM PST I'm from the US, currently living in Europe, and I started playing lotro again after a long hiatus. After reinstalling, I've been playing with my original character on a US server and haven't had any problems, but I've been considering starting a new character and I heard that it's generally better to play on servers closer to where you live due to ping/lag. However, I also just read that SSG's EU servers have been having tons of issues recently and that SSG has moved the EU servers back to the US defeating the whole purpose of the ping/lag consideration (is that even true?). I'm more of a solo player, so playing during peak hours isn't a priority for me, but honestly it would be fun to connect and play with people again if finding a Fellowship isn't a pain like I remember it being back in 2014. Can anyone give me the run down on the EU server situation? Also, feel free to suggest a server for me if you're feeling generous. I might just keep making new characters on my old server (Brandywine), but I am open to starting on a new one and perhaps trying out RP (heard Laurelin was good). I can't tell you how good it felt to log back in after 6+ years and feeling all the nostalgia. I only made it to level 50 and never completed the Epic Quest line, which is something I'm really looking forward to now. Unfortunately some of my characters are missing due to being on closed servers. I contacted SSG about possibly transferring them out of server limbo (something they've been promising to offer for years apparently) and got a form email response saying no, which was a bit discouraging. However, I did enjoy seeing the livestream from yesterday where they answered questions from the community, which was good. They need to do more of that, and I think players will be more forgiving or at least more likely to give them the benefit of the doubt, judging by how people have been so frustrated with their lack of communication lately. Even just hearing the executive producer acknowledge the issues and explain what's going on behind the scenes is really cool and needs to be a priority. Also, I'm on mac and thankfully didn't upgrade to Catalina yet. How many issues can one game have!? I'm saying that somewhat jokingly as I absolutely love lotro and feel thankful that it's still around, but seriously it's bewildering as a returning player to try to figure out what's going on. Thanks in advance for the advice! [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Nov 2020 06:11 AM PST For players at level 130, are there any 3-Person instances worth doing for gear upgrades or scrolls, crystals, etc? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Nov 2020 08:17 AM PST Hello, I have a problem. Client is only downloading client_cell_1.dat again and again and again. And thats the only thing downloading, so overall progress is 0-1%. [link] [comments] |
