Posted: 02 Aug 2020 12:43 AM PDT Just yersterday I seriously F'ed up. I took a fishing quest, but was probably fishing in the wrong location and got nothing but crap. I decided to cancel the quest and delete all crap that was filling up my inventory. Then I wanted to equip my weapons again (Red Cappy with dual blades) ...and noticed one of my swords was gone. I must have deleted it with all other crap in my inventory. :-( I went to the nearest town (while getting my ass kicked), and looked everywhere for a 2nd weapon. Nothing in the AH. Nothing with the regular vendors. No "special" item I could afford from those zone-specific vendors that accept specific coins (I'm new to the zone I'm questing in). No one online in my kin (I'm in a small Dutch kin). What to do?? Keep questing at half strength in the hope a suitable weapon might drop? Buy a weapon from AH that's too low for my level? In desperation I asked on the world chat "anyone got a weapon for me?" Within 30 secs I had a mail and someone saying "check your mail". It was a person I didn't know at all. I checked my mailbox and BOOM weapon with even better specs than the one I had. I have to say; LOTRO is such a stark contrast when compared with WOW which I used to play before. So much A-holes there. I remember doing a dungeon and the guy running before me pulled some bad guys, which I then had to fight as well and which made the whole party have to turn around for a bit. The group leader asked me why I pulled them and I said "I didn't it was the guy running in front of me that took a left where everyone went right". Well that person denied it and was perhaps a friend of the leader, because I got a few minutes of the most discusting insults and then they kicked me from the group. Just one incident I clrealy remember, but there were so many. I'm staying on LOTRO for as long as the developers keep it going! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Aug 2020 07:50 AM PDT Okay so i don't make posts, like ever but i feel i HAVE to this time. I just want to say i amazed by the LOTRO community. I was stuck on a quest that turned out to be really obvious. I had over half a dozen people help and offers to join kinship's to get through the quest and also was told about the wiki. I am overwhelmed that not 1 person was mean or made fun of me and i was offered help instantly. I just want to say thank you. Thank you for your patience, kindness, helpfulness and eagerness. You have made my day and i will tell everyone of the lovely LOTRO community. [link] [comments]

Wanting to Return But Have No Mellon's Posted: 01 Aug 2020 07:21 PM PDT Hello all, I'm somewhat stuck in a LOTR nightmare and need a lending hand if anyone can help! I'm an existing player that has characters is Landrovel (Hunter lvl 29) and Laurelin (Captain lvl 43), and have been wanting to make a return MANY times, but honestly - knowing I'll be playing solo again is so discouraging. I used to be part of a few groups and kins (RP & regular), but they've all sadly dimished and as much as my orignal purpose of wanting to explore the world/story solo - I've realized it's pretty lonesome. I'm not the sort to PM someone in chat and I've tried finding new kins, but many push leveling and I'm more wanting to enjoy the story slowly - with like-minded peers who won't mind if I ask silly questions or even become a familiar voice or "friend" if that's even possible anymore lol ^-^ I suppose my question is, do I push on with my original characters and try and find new people in those servers, or do I create an entirely NEW character and join somewhere new? I'm not familiar with any of the new servers or about which servers are most populated...I'm on US time btw. If anyone can help, I'd be much appreciated :) [link] [comments]
Returning Player. Imbued LI halps? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 01:29 AM PDT Greetings fellow players, recently returning player and feeling a tad overwhelmed with this new imbued LI system. My main is a RK. I think I understand about leveling the LI before imbuing, and about all the scrolls required etc. What I am unsure about is... 1) Are there major and minor legacies still, or can you put any 7 legacies you want on a LI? 2) Watching videos, it looks like legacies can be changed at will, is this right? 3) If previous question is a yes, and legacies aren't so important as can easily get any legacies I want - then is the only important thing that the main stats on my runestone are good? 4) What are the 'best' RK runestone stats now? Crit and morale? Thank-you in advance :-D [link] [comments]

Just came back after 19 years. Some help please Posted: 01 Aug 2020 01:23 PM PDT So I'm playing again after ~10 years and I'm confused. I guess I made multiple accounts of something, but I'm trying to find the correct account that had my mines of moria expansion on it. I see that one of the accounts states it has a "mines of moria trial" on it, but the other account does not say that. Does that mean my account does have the expansion? Second question: If this is indeed the correct account, why do I not receive any of my moria presale items I used to get back in the day? I remember getting a special cloak and a dusky nimblefoot goat with every newly made character and do not see those anymore. Edit: title is suppose to say 10 years, not 19 [link] [comments]

Does the Shield Of The Hammerhand ever go on sale? Posted: 01 Aug 2020 09:31 PM PDT I am thinking about buying a Shield Of The Hammerhand from the in-game store but I will wait if this item ever goes on sale. I don't remember ever seeing it on sale, but I thought I would ask in here first [link] [comments]
Should I start playing in 2020? Posted: 01 Aug 2020 06:25 AM PDT When the game came out I was thinking about trying it out but all my friends played WoW so I chose that aswell. Now after a very long time I am thinking about it again. I really love the whole LotR universe so obviously the setting would be for me but I am pretty concerned about the small active playerbase. Would that be a problem or the game is fun playing solo (or maybe duo if I can talk my gf into it)? Also I read some posts and as far as I can tell there is a lot of content that isnt available for f2p players? How much money would I be spending if I wanted to have access to every main content? Didn't find an answer with searches, so... what's good for exploration and a some servers? Posted: 01 Aug 2020 11:18 AM PDT You guys seem so nice and helpful as a community, so I thought I would ask and maybe learn from your collective insight. I'm sure the latter part is a hot topic, but I don't really care about having a ridiculously overactive server, I just want to make sure I don't start on a dead one (had that happen in an MMO I played once, didn't even realize the server was a "dead" one for ages, and by the time I realized it was hard to find anyone/do anything, I was already high enough I didn't want to start all over on another server.) I'm not a heavy RPer, but I appreciate RP people and might engage in it from time to time, and I do "casual RP" (for example, not wearing ridiculous clothes, dancing naked on mailboxes, and I walk around people rather than through them in games - walking through people just seems so darn rude, ya know??), so RP or non-RP is fine by me. As to the bigger question - even bigger than server - is what class to play. I've always loved LOTR, and it's honestly shocking to me to think that I've never really even tried this game before. I kinda just want to take a casual stroll (okay, not casual, but you get what I mean - non-hardcoreultraraiderminmaxer "stroll") through Middle-Earth, looking at all the places I read about in the books, but also the wide country and far corners that Tolkien gave sparing details on. I know LOTRO is lovingly crafted and probably THE way to experience Middle-Earth this way, at your own pace, and smelling all the roses and turning over all the rocks. But, the question is how best to do it? Class (and to a lesser extent, race and professions) probably has an effect here. So I'm wondering what class is best for the job (as this will dictate race, obviously.) I'm reading the Wiki, but figured I'd ask the question here and see what responses I get as well. Additionally - since grouping is probably a thing that has to be done now and again? (And I DO like grouping, don't get me wrong...I just LOVE exploring; of the 4 MUD/MMO player types, I've always been the Explorer/Spade) - I tend to like healing people, though I like any support roles, but I'm also amenable to tanking. I tend to dislike straight damage roles, since my brain works great for contingencies and reactive gameplay (healing/tanking), but I suck at memorizing rotations and min-maxing (damage dealer-ing). If I DO damage dealing, I generally prefer it to be at range, and with as much of a support emphasis as possible. I also love utility and "random" skills (e.g. teleports/portals, making food/water, farsight, disarming traps, etc; non-combat, world-building abilities that speak more to being in a WORLD than being in a game where everything is about killing that raid boss, if that makes sense? So, then there's the base classes in the game, which is what I'd probably go with: Burgler - seems to be one option, due to stealth abilities. In theory, this seems to say to me an ability to go places without having to worry as much about being mashed into paste by enemies (Bilbo sneaking up on Trolls without them ever even noticing he was there, for example), allowing an unprecedented freedom at even low levels to explore the world. Though many games limit stealth effectiveness vs enemies, so I am wondering how this actually plays out in practice? If I'm level 5 and some level 7 Orcs can easily see through my stealth, it doesn't seem that much of a boon! It also seems to be both melee and a pretty straight up damage dealing class, two things that I dislike, other than its non-combat/exploration utility of stealth. And if it's like the Rogue class in most games, when their stealth FAILS, they tend to not have much staying power without a group support, especially if their tricks and such are on cooldowns. Hunter - like the Burgler, seems to be a nuker. And unlike the Burgler, seems to lack stealth. They DO seem to have a kiting/"vs multiple enemies" capability which might help some with soloing things, but in a more direct "beating your face in - with arrows" sort of way that is even more combat focused. But they ARE a ranged class and seem to have some kind of fast travel options? Champion - seems to offer some flexibility - which is good for a person like me planning to solo and adventure a lot. Being able to spec into some defensive and taking abilities means being able to outlast an enemy in the field. While this means fights may take LONGER, the chances of surviving the encounter might be higher, than that of a Hunter or Burlger. It reminds me of when I leveled a Paladin in early WoW (Burning Crusade era) and had a hybrid healing/tanking build, meaning I killed things VERY slowly...but I could also tank something like 10 equal level mobs and survive (though this took a good deal of concentration and cooldown use), or could more casually (if slowly) work my way through enemies one or two at a time while exploring. That said...they seem to have no real utility OTHER THAN that they can mesh tanking with DPS and have the flexibility to fill both roles in a party. Lacking self-heals probably stunts their soling ability compared to my cherished build of yesteryear WoW Paladin. Guardian - take a lot of damage...but seems to lack damage, sustainability (no real self-healing), or utility skills? Very group-focused. Seems like it could solo stuff and not die often, though, if you pick targets carefully and don't overengage...as well as always being welcome in a group. Minstrel - healer main focus (which I like) that also is apparently somewhat survivable (due to self-healing ability), and has a ranged damage tree (for when dealing damage) and buffing side-healing tree (when there's already a main healing Minstrel). Seems like a good choice for group play and a decent choice for solo play..? Ranged attacking and being able to heal oneself (as well as random adventurers I may come across) sounds like my kind of thing. But I'm unclear on their utility skills (they may not have any outside of that...), though their support/crowd control might scratch that itch and provide for some good tactical options while exploring... Captain - seems to be the (using WoW here) Druid of the game. The Swiss army knife, jack of all traids, answer to everything class. Able to heal, tank, or deal damage (though not ranged - well, excepting their archer herald they can call upon), they can slot into a party in any role. This seems like it would also make them useful soloers for a combination of the Champion (more tanky than a straight damage dealer) and Minstrel (able to provide some self-healing for sustained fights) above. Seems like they might also be more complex to play, though. Also, having a herald following you around might make traveling solo a bit less lonely, and it seems like they would always have a place in a group. Lore-Master - this seems to be a mix of lots of things at once. A Mezmer(Guild Wars)/Enchanter(Everquest), a healer, and a pet class (WoW Warlock) that also plays games with managing its own health for attacks (Warlock, also Blood Mages). Pets could help with soloing, as could mastery of crowd control and self-healing; and these would each make it useful in a group. But like the Captain, it sounds like this comes at a cost of a much greater focus, concentration, and thought in order to execute. Like the Captain, they have pets for those long nights otherwise alone far in the wilderness, though they seem even more complex to play and are probably a lot more squishy... . Of course, then there are professions (vocations?), which...seem to come pre-packaged in groups of three. Ideally, a more self-sufficient set would be nice. While interdependence is expected, some things seem more well put together than others. For example, Historian sounds cool...except Weaponsmith requires Prospecting to feed it metals, which Historian does not produce any of natively. Yeoman, likewise, can make clothes, though has to trade for leathers. Contrast Woodsman which can generate its own woods and skins, and use the wood to craft items while also collecting plants with Farmer on the side. They seem to come in two categories: More self-sufficient have two gathering professions and one crafting one that makes use of their gathering one: Explorer (harvest wood, skins, and metals; use skins to make armor, the rest is just "pure gatherer"?) and Woodsman (harvest wood, skins, and plants; use wood to make weapons) seem to fall under this category. In this case, Explorer is good for light/medium armor, and Woodsman for providing light (non-metalic) weapons and instruments. Less self-sufficient, having one gathering profession that feeds one of their crafting professions, and then has a second crafting profession on the side that you must find other ways to feed materials to: Armorer (prospecting feeds metalsmith; tailor is just kinda there), Armsman (prospector feeds weaponsmith; woodworker is just kinda there), Tinkerer (prospector feeds jeweler; cook is just kinda there), and Yeomen (farmer feeds cook; tailor is just kinda there). An odd aside here is Historian, where farmer KINDA feeds scholar, but scholar also feeds itself, and weaponsmith is just kinda there. Explorer (for light/medium armor) and Woodsman (for wooden weapons/instruments), as stated, seem to be the most self-sufficient, as long as you aren't a heavier armor/weapon class (Champion, Guardian, Captain) which need more blacksmithing focused weapons/armors. Though the others generally tend to have their gathering profession feed into one of their crafting professions (e.g. Yeomen would be good for the buffs and restoratives that foods can provide, which could be useful when soloing a class that has limited or no self-healing...), as long as the secondary crafting profession (the one less used) isn't a big deal to you. Aside: It seems like it would take a minimum of Tinker (jeweler), Armorer (metalsmith), Historian (scholar) [these are the ONLY vocations to find these professions in them], which also provides you with cook, tailor, weaponsmith, 2x prospector, and farmer. Adding Woodsman (woodworker, forester, and a 2nd farmer), filling out the remaining crafting profession (woodworker) as well as providing wood to it and skins to the Armorer's tailoring (and more crops for the Tinker to cook). So a minimum of four people/characters is needed to cover all professions (if one were to start the game with a group of friends...) . Anyway, I've rambled on thinking my way through this problem for enough time already. XD So let me TLDR the question and maybe you guys can help out: Good servers (North American here)..? Good class(es) for largely soloing/exploration..? Good vocation(s) to support said objective..? You guy seem so great as a community, so sorry if this is obnoxious. Just thought I would ask and learn from the wisdom of the community. Thanks!!! [link] [comments]
Question about dual weapons when one of them is a Legendary Weapon Posted: 01 Aug 2020 01:16 PM PDT Since I got a legendary weapon, I'm frequently finding that I often can't use some weapons in my off-hand. I'm not sure what I'm missing as there's nothing in the description that says it has to be in the main hand - some of them have been quest rewards that I wouldn't have chosen if I'd known they wouldn't work in the off hand. I've been reading what legendary guides I can find, but I'm not seeing anything that would explain this. If it makes a difference, I'm a champion who dual wields. The combination I'm having trouble with is main axe and some swords won't off-hand. I haven't had a problem with any other type of weapon as an off hand. [link] [comments]
Is Hytbold worth doing or just march on to Gondor Posted: 01 Aug 2020 02:18 PM PDT Is Hytbold worth doing and is it easier these days? The online guides talk about a 25 day run through repeatable quests... many of them riding that damn horse. Does the ends justify the means or should I just grab a beer at the mead house and continue on my journey? [link] [comments]

Returning/new player here, should I play a beginner class first? (F2P, no budget) Posted: 01 Aug 2020 10:12 AM PDT Hey guys, I want to get into Lotro again after trying it out years ago. I have a free to play account and no budget right now, so I don't wanna play classes like runekeeper that I would have to unlock first. Two classes that often seem to get rec. for new players are Champion and Hunter, however the Lore-Master seems more appealing and interesting to me. I was wondering now if I should still play a beginner class first or if I should just play whatever I feel like. Another question is, since I heard you can unlock new regions/ quest with points, is it like in ESO where you buy let's say region x and get it unlocked with all the quests there? Or in other words, will I always be able to finish the active questline in the region I'm currently in, so that chapters are separated from each other? Thanks a lot! Edit: Also, do I have to follow a specific order with quests/chapters/regions? [link] [comments]
Bug with "Ending the nightmare" quest in Dunbog Posted: 01 Aug 2020 05:32 AM PDT Hello. I got that famous bug. Cancelled quest, while have "kill" quest from instance. Got quest 2nd time and run into. I managed to complete both "Instance: Ending the nightmare" and "Redeem the abominations", but main quest "Ending the nightmare" still can be taken. I read forum and know that GM can help with this quest by making troll boss active while you are in hut at end. Does this still work. Also, I am premium - not VIP. Is there any chance for me to get GM's help? Will be grateful for responding. I hope somebody got this quest bugged and resolved with GM help. [link] [comments]

Returning player: how is class balance? Posted: 01 Aug 2020 08:45 AM PDT First play I got to around lvl 30 with a burglar. It was fun and strong enough. Second play a couple years later I was gonna continue but burglar was scary weak. So I got to 42 as a Loremaster. Then third return it was so weak I didn't wanna continue. So please tell me my loremaster or burglar are strongish right now [link] [comments] |
