Endgame raiding idea for busy/casual players.

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 09:18 AM PDT

I'm a pretty average guy, I don't just play lotro, I work, I'm studying at university. I really like the endgame raids in the game, especially the cosmetics you can get from them, but I lack the time (or will) to max everything perfectly for all of my characters, which means that I get declined by the elitist raiders I often see in lotro (even when my equipment is actually good enough to do it i.e. I have equipment from the raid, which shows that I've done it before). Which leads me to my idea. Lotro has already implemented a "story mode" for epic battles, where you no longer have the grind of doing helms deep by yourself or trying to find people to help you. Why not do the same for raiding? If they did something like the instance for the Black Book "In the Halls of Thikil-Gundu", where you fight alongside a group of NPCs who would logically be there, you could have an option for casual players who want to experience the raid (see the story, get the cosmetics, complete the quest), without subjecting them to the grind that is trying to perfect everything on multiple characters when they really just want to enjoy the game.

Raiding for a long time has been the topper for a story you've played out through the epic quest. What happens to Gothmog in the battle for the Pelenor? Where did the Stout-axes go in Barad-dƻr? What did Karazgar do in the Anvil? How did the elves deal with Shelob? They're all things that the story builds up to, but then is gated for a lot of the population because they don't want to condemn themselves to hating the game. And worst case scenario, you could wait until the next expansion and you out level the raid with your better stats, but I've seen people (myself included) who at level 130 have been turned down from T1 anvil, despite having full 130 gear, because their new imbuned LI hadn't been completely maxed (because the meta had shifted).

I know it sounds like a lot of whining, but I just want to be able to do the raid once, get the cosmetics and finish the story, instead of having to worry about perfecting my gear when I really don't have the time or mental space to do that. I don't even care about having the best gear in the game, give a set which is equivalent to landscape gear for those who do the solo quest, so there can still be that divide the hardcore raiders are proud of.

I also know that all of those hardcore raiders will be up in arms about this. They get mad when they can't talk about how amazing they are or link their faked stats in the chat (yes a lot of them are faked, I've seen one raid where there were 8 dps and 3 people linked that they each did over half the damage). And, good for you if you want to be "the best", we're here for different reasons, and with an option for the people like me, you won't have to deal with the casual players who don't care about raiding beyond wanting cosmetics and story, leaving you to be the elites on your server.

Again, this is just a thought I had last night, but I think it would be a great addition, especially with all of the new players coming into the game who would have to face the trials maxing everything from behind, which is no fun :( I'd love to hear your thoughts on this new option for raiding!

    Star-Lit Crystal on Guardian Belt

What would using a Star-Lit Crystal on a guardian belt do, before imbuement, and after imbuement?

    Thanks.

    LOTROFREEQUESTS doubt

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 03:05 AM PDT

Hi! I just created an account to play this game and use that LOTROFREEQUESTS code. I've chosen Evernight, created a character and used that coupon.

Now my doubt is, imagine that some friends tell me that they are playing in a different server and I decide that I want to join them. Do I have those free quests unlocked on their server as well? Or should I go into every server and use the code to ensure I have those free quests in all the available servers? Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

    Imbuement - What Happened

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 10:34 PM PDT

After imbuing my weapon, the percentage of damage bonuses went down. For example, Whirling Retaliation Damage went from 10% to 2%. Is this what imbuing is supposed to do?

    Thanks.

Any way to change this? All settings are at max, but people at this distance become white blobs suddenly. Didn't use to do this when I played last!

    Midsummer quest Amethyst Firefly Lanterns

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 04:01 PM PDT

Where is "the alcove" mentioned in the quest?

"The alcove and the Houses of Healing are located on the Sixth Circle of Minas Tirath.

You should place two amethyst firefly lanterns in each location for the wedding planner."

    Arranging Arrangements quest (daily)

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 12:18 PM PDT

Is the Arranging Arrangements quest broken for anyone else? I completed it twice successfully but the last couple of days, when I get into the Blue Theater, two of the floral arrangements are dead. It lets me place the one on the far right (facing the stage) but the middle and far left ones are inactive and unclickable. So I can only place 3/5 of the arrangements in the quest. Thought it was a one-off glitch but it has happened several times now.

    Server for returning player

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 04:31 AM PDT

I've been thinking about returning to the game after several years after I left. I played like 4-5 years ago, Champion lvl 60ish, never did something 'end-game'.

I want to start playing again (downloading now!), but I want to play on a 'populated' server. I like to play with people, even though it makes getting to end-game slower.

Which is the best server for me? EU player, but no preference

Question about buying Expansions in the Store

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 01:42 PM PDT

Hello, I'm a returning player who hasn't played since before Mordor but after logging in and taking advantage of the free quest packs I noticed I can't buy the two latest expansions Mordor and Minas Morgul from the LOTRO store.

I thought at first maybe I bought them somehow beforehand but if I go to my SSG account only the expansions up to Helm's Deep are listed so I don't think I have them. Searching around I do believe I should be able to buy them using LP but the expansions just aren't listed in the store. Is there a reason for this? I'd really rather buy them with LP rather than real money if I can.

    Warmly essence triggers question

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 06:01 AM PDT

So I've been trying to find this information everywhere online and also tried asking in game and nobody seems to know for sure what the answer is.

Is there any positive in stacking the same triggers to make it trigger faster?

For instance say trigger A has a 25% chance to trigger, it can only trigger once every 30 seconds and lasts 10 seconds. If I stack this trigger essence 4 times would this mean that on a hit, the game will first check if the first essence triggers, and if it doesn't check to see if the same essence but second one equipped triggers and if it doesn't, then check the third and so and if none trigger then on the next hit check again?

So essentially stacking essence A four times gives it a 1 - (0.750.750.75*0.75) = 68% chance of triggering on hit.
