Free to Play vs VIP: What's the Demographic Here Look Like?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:05 AM PDT

Hey guys, just curious: do you pay for the VIP subscription? If so, why? If not, how come? I just started playing yesterday, I'm enjoying it so far, I hate running out of space in my inventory and it happens frequently, so I've been considering doing VIP (plus, 500 LOTRO Points a month sounds nice). Is it worth it? Why or why don't you pay?

    Bounders hats and Shire quests

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 11:05 PM PDT

My google wasn't quite as clear as I would like, so here goes. What I'm trying to confirm is:

Do you need to be wearing a Bounders hat to get, progress, or turn in any of the quests in the Shire (even just one), or is the only requirement that one must get the hat to unlock the do x quests deeds (and the turn-in quest once you're done with that)?

If you do need to have the hat on for other quests:

Can you wear it cosmetically without actually having it equipped (i.e. have something with better stats under the cosmetic appearance) and have it work?

Is it possible to have one or more Bounders quests not yet done before you get the Sherriff's hat, and if so will the Sherriff's hat also work?

Newbie Question about the Free Content for Coronavirus Season and the Expansions

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 11:53 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I just have a quick few questions. I'm giving this game a real shot this time around (I've played it before a bit, but never really got into it). I started yesterday, I'm level 16 now I think, and I just want to make sure I understand a few things. So, they gave that free code with which to unlock access to all quests and instances and everything, correct? Are there things that are not included in the list of quest packs that I'll have to purchase with LOTRO points in the future? Or has everything been permanently unlocked for me? Also, about expansions: if we buy the 99 point expansion quest packs in the store, is there anything from the expansions that we are missing? I read a few threads about this subject, but was still confused and wanted to clarify. I saw some people chatting about it in Arkenstone and they were saying that if you buy just the 99 point expansion quest packs, you don't need to buy the full priced expansion set? Is that true? What's the actual difference between the two things? Any help would be great! Oh, and if there are still quests/instances/etc that are locked from me despite the free coupon, how will I know when I've come to an area that is locked? Will it tell me? Thank you for your patience for a newbie.

[quest bug] Intro: Signs and Portents

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:49 AM PDT

When I click on bedroll screen goes black and nothing happens. I have to exit the game. I saw reddit post about " Verify Integrity of Game Cache " on steam, but mine's greyed out. I can't click on it. Any idea how to fix this?

Advice on how to handle the legendary item system from a casual/noob perspective?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 10:22 AM PDT

I've done a lot of research, but I'm honestly still kinda baffled on these legendary items--I think I'm getting some mix of current and outdated information. Is there any "easy mode" guides out there from the perspective of a noob that just wants to level and see the story? I've been reforging and upgrading them, but not sure what else to do--one of them just hit max level and I'm confused what that means. Do I deconstruct it and get another somewhere else? I saw that I get a new one at level 65, will this current one remain viable until then? I am level 60 and just about to exit Moria, for perspective. Thanks in advance!

    Suggestion for devs

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:39 PM PDT

Since they've recently made the game more accessible to bring in new players, I think it would be a great time for the developers to streamline the progression of the game.

There are way too many grinds in the game. It's gotten to a point where I don't think the average person has enough free time to catch up in terms of completionism.

Who has 4 weeks to run dailies for the ents to gain faction rep for example, or kill 200 orcs in the 50 zones, etc.

Then there's a lot of traveling back and forth with the book quests. Do they expect someone to spend a week straight running from one side of angmar to the other doing level 50 book quests in a game with 120 levels.

I know you can pay money to do quests faster and buy virtues etc but I think the game is just so massive now that they really need to consider the user experience again

Question about the Samwise Gamgee Starter Pack?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:40 AM PDT

Was thinking about getting the Samwise Gamgee Starter Pack for my son and myself and maybe later on one month of VIp if we decide to stay with the game longer term.

    Tha starter pack says:

Applies to all characters on an account! A $25.00 value for only $9.99!

If this is your first purchase of a LOTRO product, then you will also be automatically upgraded to a premium account and get 1 Character Slot and 5 Auction House Slots for free!

Now does this apply only to characters you have created already or to all future characters?

I am wanting to know if I make a 3rd character after getting this, and becoming premium, will it get the perks also?

Advice on expansions/quest packs for returning (NOOB) player

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:19 PM PDT

Hello, I have played LOTRO off and on for years, but have not delved into it very deeply. I would like to get back into it now, and I picked up the recent free quest coupon.

Over the years, I have picked up the following expansions: Mines of Moria, Shadows of Angmar, Siege of Mirkwood, and Mordor.

I haven't really taken advantage of the expansions I do have. That being said, I would like to get the rest of the content that I don't have, which means Rise of Isengard, Riders of Rohan and Helms Deep.

Minas Morgul still requires purchase of the full expansion, correct?

I am confused by the "Expansion quest" packs and instance clusters, versus the expansion packs. The expansion quest packs and the instance packs are currently 99 coins I believe, and I would need to purchase both correct?

Sorry for being such a noob about this. Thanks in advance!

    New Guardian Players

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 02:24 PM PDT

Hi there, i'm a new player and for every question answered i got 3 new ones. I'm loving the game but i'm around lvl30 and now i'm not sure if i'm doing the right thing. i have some questions:

    1. As a Guardian i liked a lot the survivability, the AoE damage but mostly the DoT damage. But is viable to continue like this using 2h weapons?(some captains make me feel really powerless). Will i find instances groups very often to play with this trait line? 1.1 Assuming the answer to question 1 is no, what trait do i follow? (I do like to tank even if i liked the aspects i talked about before).

    2. As a second class what your recomendation? (Have in mind i like to play solo but i love to do instances as well).

Every time I close my client and open it back again, I have to change the graphics settings to what I want. I'm using Steam.

Does anyone else have this issue?

warden question about improved gambits and battle memory

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 11:52 AM PDT

    Hi all
I apparently am dumber than usual. I have a warden lvl 42, but i do not get the improved versions of deft strike, goad, or defensive strike when i use those gambits.
It was my understanding that the improved versions become available at level 40.
Thus no potency or battle memory activation.
I must be missing something very obvious here.

    Thanks!

Does anyone know if Gwir-Palvais still drops from Isengard instances? I've run them a lot and so far no luck.
