    Question about Hobbit RP-ing

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 04:54 AM PST

    Greetings

Now I've been thinking about starting a RP heavy character for some time now. I already play on Laurelin (EU RP server) simply because I like to have the RP option available even if I have no plans of RP-ing with a specific character and I also like seeing what kind of cannon names players come up with. As I said despite playing on a RP server I haven't been doing any RP-ing...until now. I really like the idea of making a Hobbit character and using him as a RP character. Now my question is how active is the RP community in the whole Shire area as my plan doesn't involve leaving the Shire (not for a long time at least). To be honest I would just want to experience life in the Shire, and my question here is, is the RP community strong enough and could that be done?

Has anyone figured out a way to keep Khatlob from bouncing tanks all over the place (other than just using a LM's bear)?

Are Wardens in a bad place right now?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 06:12 PM PST

    Hi!

I'm returning after a long time away from the game, and I'm looking for a fresh start.

In the past I had always been curious about playing a warden - the solo gods, a fellowship unto themselves! - but the complexity of the gambit system was a bit daunting, and I read from multiple people that dedicating yourself fulltime to playing Warden was a good idea in order to build that gambit memorization. So I shied away from the class since I was dividing my time between LotRO and another MMO.

Recently I told that other MMO to go stuff itself, and now I have the time to dedicate to really learning the Warden, but from what I can find - which isn't much, as LotRO has a fairly modest playerbase - Wardens might be in kind of a weird place right now.

My general impression is that Wardens are no longer the king of soloing crazy stuff, having been surpassed by Beornings and perhaps even by Guardians and Burglars. However, they have gained viability as DPS in group content. Am I close?

I always kind of thought that gambits sounded like a big hassle but the idea of putting up with them for excellent solo capabilities and the ability to do things alone that other classes needed groups for seemed agreeable enough, but now that that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, I don't really know what Wardens are really for anymore.

Could any current Warden players elucidate me on the current status of the class? Thanks!

    Account Wide Mounts

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 12:40 PM PST

I'm wanting the Steed of the Champion but it's only for one toon rather than account wide. Do the account wide offerings rotate? If so how often?

Is the population for legacy higher than standard and vice versa?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 08:30 AM PST

I just started here and wanted to know what the most popular servers are for EU as I would rather pay money to play with players than spend weeks leveling on a dead server if there is any.

    Thanks in advance.

Should I return for the story/quests?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 04:30 AM PST

First some context: I was really really into LOTRO for a while from launch until some time after the Dol Guldur expansion, at which point I quit.

I'm not really that into MMO's anymore, as the end-game playstyle doesn't appeal to me anymore. That said, I've been having a LOTR itch lately and had the idea to return to LOTRO to level up a character from scratch just to enjoy the questing and the storylines.

My question is, is it worth it? How is the questing/leveling experience post Dol Guldur? Further, should I just go on a regular server or try one of these new Legendary servers (sounds like they might be more story oriented?)

I'm also curious if the areas I remember and have fond memories of (mostly the Eriador stuff) has changed at all? Have they gotten any sort of face lifts or are they still the same as back in 2007?

Anyone else getting unplayable lag spikes and ping?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 03:34 AM PST

It's just started this morning on Crickhollow, I'm getting ping rangings from surviveable 450ms all the way to 2500...

I've tried lowering graphics, resetting the internet etc etc (the usual "Is it plugged in" tech suggestions). First time this has happened in 7 years or so to this degree and I was just hoping someone else has had it, there's a simmple toggle fix.

Why? WHY? Seriouly - WHO thought this was a good idea???? WHO???

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 12:19 PM PST

So, I have just about quit LoTRO for good. I've already quit most of my kins on the Three servers I actively played on. I'll probably log on one last time to delete my lowbie characters, sell off the stuff that can be sold off and give away the gold to some Lucky individual. Then I'll log on to my ssg account, cancel my VIP for good, and then probably uninstall and never look back. Why?
I was going to use this weekend's bonus XP to get my highets char, a Captain on Arkenstone, to 120. I had just about finished the questline in grey Mountains and was about halfway to 120. Among the stuff I had left was the Stormwall quests and the final quest of Chapter 8 of Black Book of Mordor. So.. Both of these ends in instances. Solo instances. FORCED-solo instances. And in both these instances, you get set upon by multiple mobs that do TONS of damage in ONE hit. Even With Shield of the dunedain, constant rallying cry, last stand, banners and a herald, my captain simply can't heal that much damage. Impossible. And then you respawn WAY outside the area where the instance is, and has to fight Your way through a heap of overpowered mobs to get to the entrance area to the instance - only to die again. And again. WHY can't I get just ONE person to help me on these quests? I'd breeze through them easily, be 120 by now, and on my way to Beorning land. In stead SSG has lost a customer, most likely for ever.
FORCED SOLO INSTANCES SHOULD _NEVER_ BE IN AN MMO!!!!! And if they absolutely HAVE to be there, there should only be for stuff With NO fighting! You should ALWAYS have the option of having at least ONE other person along With you, these are MULTIPLAYER games FFS. The l33t players who can't stand being around casual plebs could still solo them for their e-peen, of course. But those of us too stupid to solo the Ć¼ber-easy PvE in this faceroll children's game should ALWAYS have the option to get someone to tag along. OK, so let us get less XP and a Purple instead of teal item at the end, if it makes the l33t crowd cry that us dirty Casuals get the same rewards as the royalty, I don't care. Just make the game ENJOYABLE. For EVERYONE. Thanks. You can start flaming and downvoting now.
