How is the RP in LotRO?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 02:37 PM PST

I started a character that I like, and slowly discover the game. I moved from DDO to LotRO (even though I love DDO) because I was more interested in RPing than blasting through dungeons 4 times in a row as fast as I can. I want to feel connected to my character and get invested in his adventures. I already started ion Laurelin which I heard was the more RP server, but I ask here to know the opinion of the games veterans.

    Overworld skirmish soldiers

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:57 AM PST

I came back after years of not playing and have been enjoying some slow leveling and the world in game. What I think to be the biggest strengths of the mmo.

I noticed, not sure if it's new, that you can call your skirmish soldier out on landscape content to make thing way easier to farm and kill. Yet I don't see anyone else really utilizing it. Is there some down side I'm not understanding?

Has anything improved since launch of legacy?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:41 AM PST

I subbed a little during and after the release of legacy. I noticed a blow to community cohesion then, so I distanced myself. The few groups who wanted to play were a bit hard core and didn't want to enjoy the game. I obviously was booted from these guilds during my hiatus because that's a thing I guess. Returning just this weekend, I noticed that Landy is completely empty. Bree and other major cities weren't active. Is there anyone casually playing today in small groups, or is it just a solo grind game now?

New Player needs guidance with Minstrel Hobbit

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:39 AM PST

I'm coming from DDO where I played a full bard spellsinger, and, although LotRO is more straightforward, I must admit I don't really know what I do. How do you play a Minstrel in LotRO?

Explorer for profit, do I need to get master proficiency?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:45 AM PST

So I'm a completionist, I'm at Artisan right now in mining and prospecting, with no use for Tailoring.

The problem is, I'm realising now that in reaching for Master tier, by the time I get there, I'm usually leaving the area.

In repeating this loop, I never have raw mats to sell, be it ores, or logs. Which seems to be a problem because my raw mats sell 10x faster than ingots or brushed hides.

    Thanks for any advice.

Returning SoA player with friends - help!!

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 03:22 AM PST

Hello, fellow free people of Middle-earth!

I have been playing LOTRO back and forth since release, but haven't played LOTRO now for at least 3 years (tried Legendary servers a bit).
But now me and 3 friends (that all is huge LOTR/middle-earth fans) wants to give the game a try.
Our goal is not to rush to the endgame instead enjoying the game, the group content, the world and the quests. My question is which server should we choose? We want an active, friendly, lore positive server - if there still are low level zones that are active that would be even more awesome. A server where we can enjoy our self once or twice a week. We are from Sweden if you guys want to know our time zone.
All tips are handy (so our visit in Middle-earth gets as positive as possible)!
I love the game and really want my friends to enjoy it as well. They all are experienced MMO gamers mainly WoW and Black Dessert.

    Cheers!

New player looking to do all the old content at the right pace

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 02:48 AM PST

As the title says, I'm a new player (technically, I did get to nearly endgame back in Shadows of Angmar, but I didn't quite get there and have lots the account, so basically starting from scratch) but I'm looking to do all the old raids and content at the correct levels. I don't mind paying premium, and in all honestly I'm finally looking to spend some money on a video game anyway.

I've heard things about level capping, which I assume just locks XP so you don't get levels, and then finding kins at that level to run the content with you. Do these things start up regularly, so I can just get to 50 and start going through it them as soon as I get to that level? I've also heard that the legendary servers are increasing the level cap slowly, but it's still not from around level 50, so would another server be starting up any time soon?

Alternatively, is it best just to play through to 130 with my first main, exploring all of that content, and then just to make alts for the slow levelling guilds?

Any advice on how I could see as much content in its most organic form possible would be greatly appreciated! Seeing as I'm starting basically from scratch, I don't mind picking a server in particular, though for now I'm on Evernight.
