Why are there only 3-4 epic dwarf beards, and the rest are short and terrible?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 09:25 AM PST

Like cmon, what is a dwarf without an epic long beard. I wager that 90%of people have one of the 3 good beards. Like, the first one. It's maybe the best one so everyone will have it and your dwarf will look like every other one, and that's lame. Then there is one or two other ones, and then that long one that looks like a d_ck. And that's it. The rest are short beardlets. You can't even call them beards. which self-respecting dwarf has a short beardlet?

    How can this happen?

Returning player wondering what the story is with the new dev team/ studio and what's happened in the last few years

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:20 PM PST

Long time, long past player- founder, beta'd several xpacs, yada yada, been out the last few years because, well life, new interests, etc.

So the bug hit, logged into my account and started playing- mostly new character reliving old stuff to get back in the flow then will likely jump into some of the later stuff. I "own" everything through Helm's Deep...

In any case I see that there's a new dev team, Standing Stone, that apparently has some of the old Turbine devs. I also keep picking up undercurrents and rumbles of other changes in how the game is run, what the dev team does or doesn't do, etc.

So I'm wondering, would someone be willing to help me out, fill in the last 5 years of so of what's happened, and what I should be aware of, and what they think that portends for the future? Just to get me up to snuff again.

    TIA

    Which Burglar do I level?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:19 PM PST

tl/dr: you get to pick! Do I level up my Hobbit Burglar or Man Burglar?

I have been working really hard to focus on one character: my Beorning. However now that I'm getting towards Mordor I get an Aria of Valar upgrade with the expansion. Without much thought, I know I want to use it on a Burglar (maybe my favorite class), but I begin to fret: my Hobbit or my Man Burglar??

    First, a little background.

I played LOTRO during beta. It didn't stick then because I was addicted to WOW, but less than a year later I was back in the game and loving it as a gamer and Tolkien nerd. Eventually I got my wife into it and we played happily through Moria, Mirkwood, and Rohan. At about Helm's Deep our attention waned. We had babies to deal with and other interests to pursue. About two years ago I gave it another shot with a Beorning, but my attention waned again. I'm giving the game another go and I'm hooked once again.

I am a terrible altoholic. I'm constantly starting and deleting characters. In my heyday I had four or five at max level and geared (why I burnt out, likely). These days I definitely can't maintain it. But I have two burglars: Sutter is level 66, well-geared for his level with many deeds under his belt (I'm most proud of "The Great Saboteur"). Rocso the Hobbit is entirely used for social and seasonal content, plus cooking, and yet still achieved a respectable level 28.

I feel rather ambivalent about which Burglar to upgrade, and moreover, it's just a game and a silly thing to get bogged down in (though y'all are LOTRO nerds, you feel me). So instead of mulling it over forever, I thought it would be cool to do something fun and let the community decide!

So what do you think? Rocso or Sutter? Hobbit or Man?

    Help with fashion

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 04:36 PM PST

    Hello!

I've created a character, a high elf champ with the intent of him being one of the gwaith I mirdain, the Smiths and jewelcrafters of Eregion. However I'm struggling trying to decide what cosmetics help convey the Smith aspect but also the high elf feel. Any advice is appreciated!

    Returning player/hardware issues

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:28 PM PST

Is anyone successfully using a RX 5700 xt with lotro. Just logged in for the first time in 8 months. My warden is sitting outside MT. Figured this card should crank but instead it is a dog. only getting 80-100 ftps at 1080p ultra. Showing only 20-40% utilization on the GPU. Anyone else running this?

    servers down or?

I need help. I can't stop switching and just settle on a class/race!

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 06:37 AM PST

Yea, another post from me. Sorry if it is a bother, (Reddit posting is kind of nice/fun compared to where I regularly post), but I need you guys to drop the hammer on me and put me in place!

I love this game. I loved playing my Burglar in the past. I want to play something else, but I keep bouncing around from class to class without making any progress!

What is wrong with me!? I do have ADD, but I'm certainly not blaming that, though it probably doesn't help matters. I'll sit here all day at work, decide what I am going to play and then sit down to play in the evenings and start doubting my decision.

I like Warden, but worried I will struggle with learning the gambits and just be a hindrance to any group I might be lucky enough to join. They are super fun to play though.

Champion was one I was sure I was going with. But again, I worry about being to squishy and not wanted in groups.

Captain I really like, but hate the heralds. I wish I could play without them but I'd just be gimping myself. I also don't want to be expected to heal if I get in a group.

Guardian, dps, was my original choice. A 2 handed, and bow and heavy armor. But I get the impression that dps Guardians are not wanted and that I would be expected to tank. I worry over this.

Although I love Burglar, I don't want to play another one. I want to break away from my usual choice of the "rogue" type class.

I'm also not interested in Minstrel, Hunter, Lore Master or the bear, (don't have them at the moment). Slightly interested in a Rune Keeper as an alt, maybe.

I like the idea of a wandering knight, or sellsword. I like Aragorn and Lan, (Wheel of Time). I love the idea of dps sword and shield, but not sure that is an option here.

Should I just go Guardian and learn to love to tank? There is a ton of content here I am never going to get to see again, (love love LOVE Moria), or for the first time if I keep rerolling.

Help me LotRo Reddit, you're my only hope!

    Return in the game

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 03:15 AM PST

Hi there, I usually play on French server (because I'm French, then sorry if I make mistakes). But I stopped the game 1 year ago, and I want to replay another time, but not in French server because it's empty (200-400 players approximately). So, does US servers have many players ? What's usually the connection peak ? Thanks
