    New player looking for Kinship

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 08:44 AM PST

    Hey everyone!

I am loving Beorn, I am a new player looking for a social active kinship while I learn the game and whatnot.

My name is Gilotine on Arkenstone (US). I do have discord.

I am a software engineer at a major petrochemical company and work turn-arounds. I am also married and my wife volunteers full time at an animal rescue so I do have commitments outside of work/game. Little about me, my wife and I live in Texas on the gulf coast, I am a former Firefighter/EMT, we have over 60 animals at our home. I am a pretty friendly guy, I'd love to join a community on this game.

    Thanks!

Do the expansions bought on the lotro market include any lotro points?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:36 AM PST

I'm specifically interested in Helm's Deep. On CheapPunk the description talks about 1000 LP and the one on the Market doesn't. I don't know if it's supposed to be self-evident, or this version doesn't include them; in the latter case buying from CheapPunk would be a better deal even with the black friday sale.

Should I bother with crafting if I don't find it fun?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:08 PM PST

Usually I don't like crafting in games and LOTRO is no exception. While the crafted gear is good for it's level, by the time I get to an area and level up enough to where I can make purple tier items, I've already outlevelled it. I could simply buy some weapons/armor from skirmish camps, since I do like doing skirmishes. Also, I don't like having to create multiple alts for crafting - I tried this, and it is too much for my taste.

My only concern (as I am not a experienced player) is about legendary weapons/items. If I don't craft, how exactly will I obtain legendary weapons/items? I am not part of a kinship, and I would prefer not to join one.

    Thank you!

Trouble in the Inn of the Forsaken

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:03 PM PST

Hello again! My wife and I have been having a blast playing LotRO, thanks to some advice given to us in a previous thread. :)

We recently came upon a seemingly impossible challenge, though, and were wondering if it's expected to be this hard. We're level 21, and reached the end of Inn of the Forsaken; however, Umin, the boss, had over 25k HP, and hit for over 300 (~25% of our health bar, so we couldn't outlast him even with potions); as compared to Skirmish lieutenants at our level which have 2k and regular enemies with 400-700. We have crafted gear and are MMO vets, so we assumed we'd be up for whatever the dungeon threw at us, but that proved incorrect. :)

Watching other (admittedly old) gameplay videos, similar-levelled players get an Umin with around 5000 health, which would be easily manageable.

I noticed he had a buff called something like "Skirmish Tier 3", did we set up the dungeon wrong somehow? Is this just how he is supposed to be? Is there a way to set difficulty?

    Thanks!

New player with question about housing.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:46 AM PST

I played LotrO forever ago, but I'm about to jump back in. One of the coolest things I heard about was player housing. So my questions are..

First. At what level do I have access to get a house (and can it be done on the free version?)

Second. If I am playing with my girlfriend I heard that we must buy our house near the same time or we wouldn't end up in the same area. Is this true? And would that only work if we are the same race .

Thanks in advance. Cant wait to jump back in to this game over the holidays!

    Best Way to Move Forward

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 02:31 PM PST

I have a lvl 27 character and am wondering what to do to progress in terms of expansions and quest packages. Should I get vip or LOTRO points? And what are the benefits of both? I made a mad dash to Rivendell as a lvl 15 but everything was locked what quest pack is that and can you get them in groups? Also what quest packs are the most fun and useful?

(Sorry for the spamming of questions)

Lotro client fails to patch, need help please

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:31 PM PST

    Suilad,

I have a problem trying to patch my client, but it tells me PatchClientDLL::CheckDatFiles failed. And then it says that the encrypting and deserialising of the downloaded files of the server is not possible.

I just want to activate my quadpack key and now I cant go online.

Two Aria of Valar from Mordor & Morgul?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:07 AM PST

Hi, I had already bought the Mordor base game a while ago, but with the sale on, I was considering buying the collectors edition with the Aria of Valar boost, along with the new Minas Morgul pack with the Aria of Valar boost. Would I get two boosts or would one overwrite the other? Also, I assume already owning Mordor wouldn't affect it?

    Thanks!

    Jewelry Business Name

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 08:36 AM PST

I'm thinking of a name for my metals and lapidary business. I don't do fantacy themed work, but was thinking of something unique and of course thought back to my gaming days. Lotro/dark ages/everquest and all the way back to the orig Ultima Online.

I fabricate using silver and gold and have started slabing (cutting) and polishing various minerals.

    Ideas?

Suilad nƮn mellyn! There are currently the dlcs in sale on the website and I am thinking of maybe buying one as I dont have that much time and would like to use one of these good deals. My characters are round about 30-40 and I am thinking of buying Moria. Does it make sense? What is the chronological order?

    Searching for characters

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 07:50 AM PST

I've searched around but still have a question about finding old characters:

If I had a subscription several(6-8) years ago would I be able to see the characters I had, now, while on a free trial? Or do I have to resubscribe?

As it stands now, I've gone to my old server(Landroval) and only see the two free character slots.

Don't understand why the Account section on the website doesn't have a list of characters or anything helpful, really.
