To anyone that cannot make a LOTRO account (500 error)

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 10:38 AM PDT

I was finally able to make an account. From the reading I've done, I'm assuming SSG is reverting back to the old method of account creation temporarily, as they directed me to the Turbine website. Here's what I did:

I created an SSG Help account. You do not need an SSG account to create an SSG Help account. I asked about the issue and they replied that they were working on it.

After seeing the video from the Dev, he seemed to imply that there was a way around the "display" issue. So I responded to my ticket asking for this workaround.

They gave me a product key to enter into this website: https://myaccount.standingstonegames.com/index.php

I am now logged into the game and can finally create my first character.

The instructions said to create a new account. If you have a DDO or any other SSG account, I would recommend creating a new one to avoid confusion. I used the same email for my DDO account, so that should not be an issue.

Side note: Given their apparent hesitance to provide this method to me, they may not want to give this method out to everyone. But since there has been very little communication from SSG regarding the issue, I figured I'd share my experience. I suggest openeing a ticket and directly asking for a product key and instructions.

UPDATE: There is a post out similar to mine. The product key that they gave me is the same key that they are giving others. Follow the instructions below:

    • Go to https://myaccount.standingstonegames.com/index.php
    • Enter the following key in the "Have a Product Key" field: YCZKZKDCTELT2Z2LPLHWEFMHW
    • Select NO when asked if you already have a SSG account.
    • Please set your subscription nickname
    • Choose a username and password for your account (Please don't use special characters in your password)
    • Fill in all the information for your account profile
    • Read and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click 'Submit'.
    • Then start or restart your game launcher and play!

Anyone interested in a coop journey?

Played this game ages ago before school and work got in the way. Would love to revisit it again especially with the new expansion coming out soon.

Ideally this would just be a small group of 2-3, maybe 4 people, and we all start out from lvl 1 and see where the game takes us. I probably played at least 5-6 years ago to lvl 60, so most everything will seem or be new to me.

I'm in NA, and willing to play any class if need be. Please PM me and we can get the ball rolling!

Any kins in Crickhollow that operate Japanese time? I’m level 28 noob who mainly enjoys epic story line, no real knowledge of role play, but would like to assist others leveling and get assistance when needed. I think the story is leading me to Agamaur soon and I know I’ll need help

    No LOTRO subscription found

    Hello,

I am trying to get back into this game as I have a want to try new MMOs again and I really like Tolkien and all things attached.

However, I've run into a wall with my current account having no subscription and being unable to create a new account through the LOTRO website. Are servers down or is there simply no way to make a new account/add a game to my turbine account through the website as it's barren when I log in?

Hello everyone! My buddy and i have been playing lotro on and off for about 7 years now, and we're getting back into it this week with the goal of leveling together. I just wanted to ask if anyone had any good tips or suggestions for races/ classes we should play, im more interested in support classes except for RK, (cause i've played it before) and he doesn't have a preference really. He's played almost everything already. Thank you!

Have a question about custom adventure?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 10:51 AM PDT

I hate fedex quests, collecting flowers, honey, tree branches etc. I don't mind killing orcs in their camps or action focused quests in other words. I probably already know that the answer is NO, but is there a way to avoid the boring quest legs, and only focus on action quests? In other words, what are best quest chains these days in LOTRO? Did anyone ever felt like myself and decided to create a compendium of something like "Quests that don't make you fall asleep"...

I've been around for 12 years, and lately getting really bored with quests that send me all over middle earth to collect some trash... I wanted to focus on quests that reward with armor or something useful and real other than faction standing... Doing skirmishes feels like a cheat since you can level up real quick, which I don't mind on some alts, but you can't do it past 100 I think.

Wanted to run through some books on higher level character, and oh my gosh, they send you from one corner of ME to the opposite corner of the whole world... and they do it to you multiple times. I don't mind spending a mithril coin here and there, but want to solo/duo with wife something that takes less of running around and more of using my skills and abilities.

Would really appreciate any advice. I wish they would sell something like "Action Quest Packs". Like "no more running around the whole world, do the books action style, insta teleport to places you already visited, etc"... While running around sometimes takes you to some amazing vistas, in majority of cases it's very gloomy, boring and sleep inducing experiences.

If you create one, do you start as level 105, or it's just their story starts when you reach 105? Some conflicting info, can't really tell what's what... anyone knows exactly and tried on test?

Still no change to creating accounts...

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 10:38 AM PDT

I can't help but find it discouraging that the status of this hasn't changed. Myself and three others planned to start into lotro yesterday and though I'm not new to the game I was very excited. This is such a bad way to deliver an experience to my friends that I am inclined to just delete it as well as apologizing recommending they do the same. I have a lot of money wrapped up in DDO and likely would have happily done that with lotro under proper management. Seems a shameful way to market in my opinion to prioritize the profits of a new expansion, and hide from problems at the very beginning of player experience. I have seen a lot of posts and replies on the topic from the past week. It seems that a Dev mentioned it on a stream (which I watched) and he was softly spoken and misleading about the truth of this. "Working on it" is not reassuring and a ticket certainly won't help. No public address on the topic has actually been made (most likely to cover up the negative press during an expansion release) and this hurts for welcoming anyone to a community in any gaming situation. Meeting the building excitement of new players as they begin to plan their character and journey to come with a broken website is a low blow. It speaks volumes for the priorities of SSG. I hope other new players out there have more luck or patience than myself.
