    Making a cooking alt?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 12:49 AM PST

I have a warden that's my explorer and hunter for jeweller. Can I make a new character that's for cooking only? How far can I take him before I need to start leveling up, or can I just stay as a level 10 the whole time? Can I buy recipes and such on a high level rep character and transfer it to my cook?

I just want to be able to do this kind of stuff for myself because i'm not really a guild type of person and a lone wolf that groups occasionally :P

What should I get, Rune-keeper or Warden?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 01:15 PM PST

I am close to unlock one of those 2 classes
By now, my main is a Hunter (50)
Also tried a Champion (too linear) and Beorning (don't like it)
Before "buying" an Elite class, do you suggest to try something similar?
    I guess RK=LM and Warden=Captain, isn't it?
    Thank you!

    Ancient Scripts

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 02:46 PM PST

My apologies if this has been asked before but I'm tired so not able to scroll for long ... How do you go about getting extra Ancient Scripts? I know that once you've appraised existing LIs you get the Ancient Scripts and Advancement Runes but how do you get more?

Deconstructing things but... What? How do you get the things that need to be deconstructing? I'm moderately confused and grateful for any advice.

    Treebeard or Arkenstone?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 02:01 PM PST

I'm not a big fan of slow leveling but I also want an active community that I can do things with and progress, as I understand most on treebeard are 50-60 while most on Arkenstone are 130. I also like modern/cool new systems.

Idk I just don't want to get berated or ignored on the main server and I don't want the legendary server to be too old for me.

Best server for solo Legendary rewards?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 11:26 AM PST

I'm interested in getting all the solo Legendary rewards from leveling and the epic quest line, but not sure which server would be my best option. It's going to likely take me 6 mos-1 year given my available playtime.

My first thought was Shadowfax, but the server population seems very low (50 people last night) and I don't know if it's going to make it to the later expansions though it it does, it should get to current content by end of next year more or less.

My second thought was Treebeard as it seems to be the popular legendary server at the moment, but at the rate it is releasing content, it won't get to later content for about 4-5 years and I don't know if the server is going to last that long.

That leaves me with Arnor which is about 6 months from catching up to current content. Not sure how long they are going to keep it around after that.

Opinions are appreciated so I can stop overthinking this.

    New player seeking advice

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 10:51 AM PST

Hi everyone. I'm a new player and was wondering if anyone had any tips, tricks, or things they wish they knew when they first started playing. I've played, and still play, many other MMOs (RuneScape, ESO, New World, WoW, etc.) but I'm looking for something new.

I haven't progressed far, just a level 5 human champion. So far all I've gathered is I should buy at least 1 month of VIP. I'm waiting to see how I like it before looking at expansions or anything. Any other advice is welcome. Thanks in advance!

    Lag while raiding, any tips?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 06:42 AM PST

Hi everyone. I did my first raid ever last thursday and I had a bunch of fun! However, I had some pretty bad lag and there were boss fights where I couldn't move and everything was lagging and updating really slowly. I was basically useless. I switched to discord on my phone and I put all my graphics settings to low. It seemed to help a bit but I was still lagging from time to time. I thought it was linked to my internet connection (it might be a bit) but the thing is I never had any lag on lotro before while running solo content or 3 man/6 man instances, while at max graphics settings. Maybe there is something going on with raiding and my internet connection that makes the game lag for me? Anyway, I wanted your opinion on this and if you have any tips to lower the lag in raids. I asked this question to my kin but I think a broader pool of opinions is a good thing. Thank you and have a good day!

(I run the 64 bit client by the way, if that changes anything)

    Soloing all old content?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 06:22 PM PST

    Hello there!
This game looks fantastic, being LOTR (one of my favorite universes), although the only active thing seems to be the current level-cap end-game content, leaving everything behind irrelevant now, which I think is a shame. I would love to explore to do old game content without having to focus on latest stuff or struggle finding a kinship etc. for that kind of thing.

I've read a lot that soloing in this game is very possible. My intention being: soloing older content at their respective levels (story, dungeons, raids, etc.) or slightly out-level / out-gear them if needed. I've seen a chunk of people doing it.

So far the classes I saw being able to do that kind of thing are Beorning, Guardian and Warden.

Question being: How do they fare now? Which ones would be best to do that kind of task without too much (extreme) struggle?

Is there a way to get the Lotro subscription by grinding?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 11:52 PM PST

I am new to the game, and I'm enjoying it. I would like to try out the other classes/races, but I can't because of the subscription. Is there a way to grind to get the sub?

I'm returning to this game after several years and want to play a Rune Keeper but have NEVER played this class before.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 01:23 PM PST

I've always played Hunters and Beornings and I'm totally unfamiliar with the RK.

What do I need to know to play a RK? What weapon should I have (or do I not need a weapon, just spells)?

What is your single most irritating minor feature when playing lotro?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 05:02 PM PST

For me its the movement with both mouse buttons pressed, because theres two different results when releasing left mouse button (want to stop moving and continue using mouselook)

    1) Press: left mouse -> right mouse -> release left mouse: Character keeps running forward

    2) Press: right mouse -> left mouse -> release left mouse: Character stops

Lots of times feels like char randomly keeps running forward. Very irritating during fights when i want to stop and mouselook, but my guy just keeps on running. And resulted to a few close calls with gravity in Moria hehe

I think guy should only move when both mouse buttons are pressed. Release either one in whichever order and it should stop.

    Treebeard server suggestions to devs

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 10:44 PM PST

I am not sure if the devs read this subreddit, but I would like to propose some changes that I believe would benefit LOTRO as a whole.

    1. Make treebeard f2p server at the very least accessible to premium players. Why? Well because legacy servers are the best draw for new players. Currently on the live servers if a new player pops in they have 130 levels to complete to reach the majority of the population. Right now treebeards lvl cap is 60, we have about 200 players online average with peak times of 300 players. This makes a fairly lively world for lotro. New players do not want to feel left behind. Treebeard has the difficulty slider which is a boon that live servers do not have. Players from other mmos generally complain about how easy the game is, how outdated/clunky the animations are including combat, and the UI outdated.Make treebeard f2p and you will see the retention of new players or returning players. If you do this, do a social media campaign to let people know LOTRO is even alive.

    2. Expansion releases should be adjusted to content size, not 6 months just because that was decided. 6 months to go from 1-50 was a good call. 6 months to go from 50-60 is not a good call. If 60-65 is 6 months you will lose the server at that stage. A good rule of thumb would be 2 months per 5 levels, unless that particular expansion has an unusual amount of level cap content. Honestly mirkwood should have been paired with mines of moria but whats done is done, though you should not stick with the 6 months scheduling. I know you want to drag this out as long as possible to try and secure profits/subscriptions for several years, but it wont work out like that. The server will die with mirkwood if its 6 months for that expansion. Then you lose most of the players.

    3. You could implement a voting both and the server players get to vote, 1 per account when the expansion gets to move on, at the minimum of 2 months in the current expansion. Make it anonymous. So in march introduce the vote for if players want to move on to mirkwood and if its above say 75% yes then do it the following week. If not bring up the vote in another month.

Tiers should have been added to SoA, MoM raids. Give cosmetics rewards/housing rewards. You can do this next legacy server 2 years from now.

Im ending with that yall, SSG, need to do your best to get into an advertising contract with Amazon to have a LOTRO ad before every episode of the Rings of Power series this year. This is paramount coupled with a social media campaign. It is your best shot at raking in new players aka revenue.

Ofc updating infrastructure and animations are more important then graphics. Smooth> pretty.

I believe treebeard will have an active average server population of 1,100 players in october if this is all done.

Thanks, loving my time in game, just some suggestions to help.

Should there be flying mounts in lotro?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 10:07 AM PST

I live in UK and played this game a lot up to about 3 years ago when I moved to Witcher 3 and then Conan Exiles, which are very different games. Are there enough English-speaking players in the European servers? Have they made the Rohan mount easier to play? What changes have there been in 3 years?
