Help! A weird hobo keep stalking me whenever I play the game!

    Posted: 05 Jan 2022 08:57 PM PST

Hi, ever since I started playing captain, I noticed that, sometimes, this hobo looking guy would just randomly appears near me and started following me around wherever I go.

I was cool with it at first since he help me fight enemies and heal me sometimes. But it's getting creepier and creepier since he never talks to me, and he seems to be able to know my exact location no matter whereever I am! I checked with other players and they confirmed that there's no way to teleport to exact location of other players in this game.

I'm scared, am I being haunted by a hobo ghost inside LOTRO ?

    Hey LOTRO Reddit!

I was wondering which are the best plugins out there that could be handy for players, including endgame.

Feel free to recommend your favorite plugins on the comments. Pretty sure that some will be quite useful for a lot of players!

Found a Goblin van Gogh randomly in Goblintown in the Misty Mountains

Are you a level 140 hunter on Arkenstone looking to be a part of a LOTRO project eleven years in the making?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2022 12:43 AM PST

Of course not. But give me five minutes, and if you don't like what I have to say, I'll go sit on the nearest fence post and wait for it to reach my brain.

My name is Oafah. It's actually Jeff, but Oafah is my LOTRO name, and I probably answer to it more than I do my birthname. You may know me from my second-rate tech channel, or my long history of Reddit shitposting, pr my ruining of Tibia, or maybe even my comically small genitals. Or perhaps, just maybe, you remember me from Nimrodel back in 2010-2011.

I was once a raid leader in the Moors before the original Oafah got trapped there. I can't pull his level 75 ass out of limbo, but luckily it doesn't matter. Oafah is reforged and he's 140. I've got my virtues in order, my trait points set, and I'm looking to make my grand return, bringing my special blend of hunter-centric combat to the battlefield. I just need a new team.

So back in the day, the team I assembled was a crew of largely inexperienced hunters who trained with me and adopted my imported brand of PvP combat I learned from my original MMO of choice. I'm looking to do the same thing again, but the server population is light and I might be too late to bring back the glory days. This is my big-brained attempt at kick starting the process and giving it another go, nearly eleven years after I left the first time.

To join, all you need to do is meet the following criteria:

    1. Have a level 140 character on Arkenstone (Hunter preferred, but certainly not required)
    2. Have Discord and be willing to join my private little one.
    3. Be a nice person willing to be a fake jerk for the sake of riling up the enemy.

    Recommended attributes include:

    1. Be willing to learn; there's a bit of training we do to get ready, but I promise it's easy. It'll also make things super simple for newcomers to the Moors.
    2. Be a fresh face looking to do something you haven't done before. I'll take anyone willing to come along, but people who have never done the Moors are the types I really enjoy to play with. If you're not the sort of person who would never think of going out there, you're exactly who I want.

My resume includes praise, compliments and insults from all sorts of people. It's not 2010 anymore, so I'll keep the manufactured drama to a minimum this time, but the skill and competition I plan to bring back in full force.

If you're a dedicated creepside player, you may want to come back in a few weeks when I'm ready to roll this project out; we need targets, after all. Could be interesting. I might even promise you that I'll die a whole bunch.

So if any of this appeals to you, either message me in game or here on Reddit, and I shall send you an invite to Discord. Once we've got a good-sized squad up and running, we'll put on the starter Moors gear and go do some ass-handing.

LOTRO doesn't launch, new PC, Win 11

    Posted: 06 Jan 2022 04:28 AM PST

Well, yesterday I bought a new PC, Ryzen 5 3500u and Vega 8, 8gb RAM. I used to play LOTRO on my old laptop, i5 4200u 4gb RAM. When I tried to install LOTRO through Steam, I can't launch it, not even through Steam/steamapps/Common.

I googled for a fix, and tried to update my drivers and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1, without success.

PS: When I booted my PC for the first time, it was running Win 10, but I upgraded to Win 11 shortly after. I searched in the forum and saw that many users have Win 11 and plays LOTRO without problems, so I don't think this is the problem. Also, I emailed SSG for support, but I want to try a faster fix here in Reddit.

    *sorry for my english

Thank you so much for the attention, have a good day! :)

Metalsmith quest: Back To Basic won't appear to me

    Posted: 06 Jan 2022 05:05 AM PST

I boosted my cappy to level 120 and leveled character and my profession metalsmith to 130lvl all the way to Minas Morgul. I read lotro page that there should be quest named https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Quest:Back_to_Basics_-_Chainmail but I dont see that quest appear to me.

I went to Estolad LĆ¢n, and also to Thorin Hall and saw HĆ”var but they offer no quest. Is this quest removed or changed someway?

    Treebeard/Gundabad

    Posted: 06 Jan 2022 04:56 AM PST

Morning all, Life Time sub here currently playing on Treebeard and working my way through Moria. Live servers have a bit of bloat for my liking and Treebeard is much more my pace as well as reliving those glorious past moments. A few questions (I did buy the Gundabad collectors and fully support LOTRO development as it is as close to the books as I can get):

-I received two "missions" which give currency for some awesome cosmetics, I assume I can do both without having to commit to a single "faction?" -Very much enjoying doing the missions for Gundabad compared to Thestlebridge, do they continue to get better? I know the server has a ways to go until Gundabad but those cosmetics… -Legendaries seem to be… different than I remember and I can't seem to override tracery slots without using Mithril coins (I have over 30k LOTRO points šŸ¤·‍♂️ but I'm stingy -Story telling is 10/10 and almost makes me want to hop on live just for Gundabad.

Started an alt and I have a blast!

    Posted: 05 Jan 2022 08:09 AM PST

Since I can't play that much these days (school) and I want to enjoy Gundabad with my 131 hunter properly this summer, I started a beorning character and I have so much fun!

I play slowly, read (most of the) quests, I even started crafting (something I have never done before). I am only level 12, but that just keeps me excited for more.

It is really fun to just start from the beginning and enjoy slow walk through Middle-Earth. I had my 131 hunter since I was twelve and I couldn't enjoy most parts of the game as I enjoy them now. Love this game.

Any way to track more then 5 quests at once? Also any way to improve the in game zone/world map?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2022 10:58 AM PST

I love how the zone maps look visually but actually using them to navigate is starting to drive me a little nuts. Is there any way to improve them?

Further, only being able to track 5 quests when the game seemingly throws them at me is starting to be a little annoying. Any way to increase the tracking limit?

    Thanks in advance everyone!

How to get started on essence slotted armour.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2022 04:59 AM PST

Hi all, So I just turned lvl 100 (captain) and got myself the AnĆ³rien War Armour spot thanks to a kinnie ( Item:AnĆ³rien War Armour - Lotro-Wiki.com (lotro-wiki.com) this whole set). But I don't really know how to get essences, and more importantly, how to get the right essences for my class. People in worldchat told me to not worry about it because armour gets replaced rather quickly so it is not worth farming for it atm. But really I just want to get it right once so I understand the principles of essences etc. So does anyone have tips on how to get started or an easy to ‏‏‎ follow guide somewhere? Thanks in advance and safe travels

    New player questions

    Posted: 05 Jan 2022 03:01 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm at level 16 with a Captain.. wondering if I've messed up by going with a low DPS class but oh well.

I have like 60 LOTRO points. I'm ok with subbing for a month, but I'm wondering when I should do that - when I get to 30?

The first thing I should buy is the riding skill when I hit 20, right? I've almost hit 45 quests in the zone I'm in.

I'm doing the Epic battle - defending Minas Tirith every day, that one seems easiest - I've watched a couple of videos - is it worth me doing this every day if I'm not actually improving? I think it's getting me improvement points slowly, right?

I don't seem to even have bear traps yet, do I get that when I put my 6th point in the right tree? I'm guessing getting a horse and some more heal points will allow me to do the enemy heads quest a bit more successfully...

I'm sad that I missed the free quest backs but oh well, what can you do. How do you even get 2500 or whatever it is LOTRO points for the expansion packs - seems like you'll only ever get a few hundred per character and I'm limited to two character slots - do people grind on different servers? Do the LOTRO points carry across like that??

Edit - I get that the Minas Tirith stuff is free, is there anything else I can do that is like a dungeon at the moment? If not, what's the quickest/cheapest way of getting some dungeon stuff going?

Assuming I want to get the 'Trove' at some point (I assume this is the update to the 'Quadpack' I've seen mentioned), what do I want to get that doesn't waste anything I'll buy later in the Trove if it's on sale?

Was it really a good idea to add a BRAWLER to the team ? Cuz ... we already have a beorning who likes to... hit stuff... with her axe ...
