Posted: 02 Jun 2021 03:07 PM PDT Hi guys, Just as the title says. Which EU server is most populated? Been on Laurelin for most of my time on LOTRO and coming back for the free quest time, is it worth me staying there or should I start elsewhere? Many thanks! [link] [comments]

How to know if an Epic Quest has pre-requisites? Posted: 31 May 2021 11:23 PM PDT Hello folks! I realized you don't have to complete all Epic Quests; because some quests doesn't require completing previous Books. So I was curious; how do you determine which one you need to do? For instance; I want to start Black Book of Mordor Chapter 4. Do I have to complete all previous chapters 1,2,3 or can I just start from Chapter 4? Cheers [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 May 2021 07:09 PM PDT Forget financial, technical, or gameplay aspects of LOTRO as has been discussed as of late. I logged in last week, was considering what to do. I could have farmed scrolls, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. So I took a long walk through the Shire on a sunny day with white fluffy clouds. Admired the scenery, checked out the Three Farthing Stone, and just walked. Didn't use a mount as I wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere. The world of Middle Earth. That's why I keep coming back. Posted: 31 May 2021 01:47 PM PDT I've seen the two posts recently regarding whether LoTRO and SSG deserve continued support from the playerbase considering the trajectory of the game and the way it is updated/maintained in its current state. I'd like to offer a third option that I feel may be unpopular, but I think is worth pointing out. MMOs, which can require a lot of time commitment out of their players and have constant updates to keep those players engaged, have a natural life cycle. In their heyday, they might have a really big playerbase, whereas later in their life cycle they might have dwindling participation. Some periods will be rich in new content while other times might have very little content output. Nothing is wrong with any of these seasons - it's just a natural part of the life cycle. While you might think initially that the heyday is the very best time to play a game, each season might suit different players differently. A big part of each season is the conscious decision by the game devs/leadership about how to maintain a playerbase that keeps the game running. Right now, SSG makes choices about how to maintain LoTRO, and there's no guarantee those choices will be successful. Will they make these choices based on how happy the playerbase is with the state of the game? Not necessarily. Their goal is to meet the threshold income needed to keep operating the game at a profit. You can imagine why there is balance here: even F2P players who never pay need to be kept happy to some degree. If they leave in droves, the game starts to feel 'dead' and paying customers also might leave. But if the playerbase is okay and the income is okay, why is there impetus for change? I've been in the LoTRO community for a really long time. And even with my own huge emotional attachment to the game, I ask: why should anyone be a safety net for its failure? If you are unhappy with the game, the very best thing you can do is stop playing and stop paying. This lets the devs/leadership know that they might need to make changes to keep the game going. But to do this, you have to decide whether you are okay with LoTRO coming to an end. Maybe in this season, that's alright. There's nothing wrong with that - again, it is just a part of the life cycle. But what if the world of MMOs seems poorer without LoTRO in it? This problem happens in the Sims 4 community. People complain that EA does not release content that suits them. But then, they buy the expansion packs on release day. It is because the Sims is the only game that fills its niche. However, because of this, no player complaints can ever gain traction because there is no impetus for change. You may love LoTRO because it lets you get into Middle Earth like no other game. You may not be interested in playing any games aside from LoTRO, even though you are not happy with it. You may think: "I support LoTRO because I want it to keep going no matter what it's like." This is totally fine - I'm not saying that you shouldn't support the game even if you aren't totally happy with it. The point of my post is that nothing you SAY can really make a difference in this situation because you are enabling SSG to do what they are doing and you are fundamentally happy with that. You should not support a game that is not fundamentally meeting your needs and desires. Instead, you should consider letting go and finding a game that does to support. If no other game is meeting those needs, letting go is a decision you have to make yourself. A game does not "deserve" or "not deserve" your support. It is "deserving-neutral" and operates exclusively in response to your actions, not your praises or complaints. Support things you enjoy and don't support things you don't enjoy. Thanks for reading and interested to hear your feedback. [link] [comments]
Looking for level cap kinship on Arkenstone Posted: 31 May 2021 10:37 AM PDT Just started playing lotro again (been about 3/4 years) and wondered if there were any level cap kinships on the Arkenstone server that goes through Moria? Friend and I have been playing pretty regularly and want to get into group raids, etc. Thanks all! [link] [comments]
