A Community Update from EG7’s CEO and Founder, Robin Flodin

    Posted: 30 Apr 2021 12:08 PM PDT

The CEO of SSG's new parent company, EG7, made a community update today. He didn't address LOTRO directly, most of his talk pertained to the work they're putting into Daybreak's zombie battle royale/survival game, H1Z1--but for those who are interested, it provided a little window into how they'll likely be managing LOTRO going forward.

H1Z1 is a unique case because, apparently, there was literally no team working on it. But it seems EG7 looks at their games' codebases independently and offers a way forward with improvements at various levels that takes community feedback into account.

Here's the video update that he posted to EG7's official channel.

And here's the written update he posted to the Daybreak community directly:

First and foremost, I'd like to warmly welcome the Daybreak community to the EG7 family. It's been long overdue, and I'd like to personally thank you for your patience these past few months as our companies sort things out operationally.

I'd also like to formally introduce myself and provide you the lay of the land, so to speak, as a start to our partnership. My name is Robin Flodin, founder and CEO of EG7. Like you, I love games. I grew up playing them, and now, I dedicate my life's work making games alongside our development studios.

Daybreak owns some of the most beloved games and franchises in the world, and everyone at EG7, including myself, have been longtime fans. In fact, Daybreak celebrated some remarkable milestones recently! DC Universe Online celebrated a decade of heroics, EverQuest entered its 22nd year, while Dungeons and Dragons Online is now in its 15th year… and we intend to continue this incredible legacy for many more years to come.

Many of these games, while successful and continually supported, have had their unique challenges. Many of these challenges are long standing and important, but due to their scope or other situations, haven't been feasible to address. All of us want this to change.

Over the last few months, I have been busy at work getting up to speed, spending a lot of time with Daybreak teams and also listening/reading/absorbing the community feedback across all the games. As you can imagine, given the long history, there's a lot to digest, but I am making good progress and have learned a ton and continue to do so.

I want to assure you that this effort is a priority for me, EG7, and Daybreak. We have been listening to the community feedback and to all of your questions and concerns. This is an ongoing effort and as we make progress, the goal is to develop specific plans to create an even better game experience for all of our players. Just know that all of us -- our community, Daybreak and EG7 -- are fully aligned and committed, and we all want to improve.

I also understand that implementing significant solutions takes time and does not usually happen overnight. Our plan is to first identify some of the most pressing pain points you -- the Daybreak community -- are experiencing today and to determine the right course for immediate action. This includes implementing systems, adding tools, resources, or people where needed, and continuing the crucial work that has already begun at the studios.

We will share specific details with you when we have them, and I hope you will join us in our journey of making great games together.

    Until then,

    Robin Flodin

    CEO, EG7

An antique gramophone, found in the attic, repeatedly channeling music from Middle Earth. This is nothing you've heard before. Original, old school, lo-fi fantasy music.

    Server Transfer not working?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2021 07:35 AM PDT

I am trying to transfer a bunch of my characters on my two accounts and it would not work for any of them. I do everything according to the server transfer guide and even get the confirmation window after confirming the transfer. Unfortunately the transfer does not happens and my lotro points are not spend on it. Is this a common problem right now? Support also does not care to help me.
