It is remarkable how much content we got this year, despite headwinds

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 09:03 AM PST

On the heels of Minas Morgul, which was a pretty significant chunk of content, we got the Wells, the Wedding, and Three Peaks.

That is a ton of content considering the pandemic and LOTRO's massive data center outages this summer.

LOTRO runs laps around other MMOs in terms of generating new content.

    Leveling up alts

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 07:17 PM PST

So I have one main toon that I do all the quest lines with and I love it, but I have 4 lower levels I am also trying to level up. Problem is, I am finding it tedious to go back through old quests to level up my alts. Any suggestions how to make this feel less like work? Also if there are any other low levels who want to buddy up on Crickhollow, let me know!

    New expansion

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 06:21 AM PST

Just noticed the "War of the Three Peaks" has been released, and I was wondering what other people think of it.

How does it compare to other expansions? Size? Quality? Fun? Lots of stuff to do?

I was underwhelmed, to say the least, by MM a year ago and haven't played much in 2020, but I don't want to judge something I haven't seen yet, even though it's still the same team. So, did they get better? Big difference from last year?

    Black Friday

With Black Friday Fast Approaching, what kind of offers should we look out for?

I've been doing some deed runs and saved the last months LP from VIP in hoping to have enough to buy Mordor (currently lvl 92 in Wildermore). I have 989lp atm, if it's on sale what should I look to get to by then?

Returning player—haven't played since 2012. Got some questions.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 02:42 AM PST

Hello :) Apologies in advance for the novel.

I have been considering returning to LOTRO at least part-time due in part to boredom with my current main MMO (FFXIV), and also a desire to relive some nostalgic feelings I have from the time I had played. I started LOTRO in the early Moria era while still in school and played it very heavily until Isengard. Combination of burnout, kinship drama, and wanting to concentrate on my education caused me to quit around Spring of 2012.

I do not want to play on any of my old characters. They probably don't even exist anymore, as they were on the Meneldor server which I understand has been closed down. As such I plan to start off fresh, though on my same account I have always used. A friend who still plays LOTRO off and on did tell me to redeem the LOTROFREEQUESTS promo code on my account and buy most of the expansions I didn't own (everything after Isengard). So I have all of that on my account fortunately.

Note: I do not plan on subscribing unless I decide I want to play on a very regular basis.

    Now on to the questions.

    1. I am a US player, and am looking for a good server for a semi-casual playstyle, but still has a healthy population of low level/new players to do group activities with periodically. Ideally would want a fairly densely populated server.
    2. I've heard that there are certain kinships who artificially limit themselves to an arbitrary level cap for periods of time. How are they able to do that? Being able to do old content I never got the chance to run on-level would be a treat. Any recommendations would be nice if possible.
    3. I plan on playing a Burglar but I had a look at the skill tree system, which is basically a massive change from the old trait system back in the day. How is the Burglar nowadays?
    4. As far as legendary traits go, do you still have to buy the books and farm the pages, or are they unlocked in your trees from the get-go?

Thanks in advance for the responses and happy adventuring :)

    Runekeeper Fellowship Sharing Kills

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 10:44 AM PST

    Hi all,

Weird question maybe, but. I'm fellowing with a friend (I'm a runekeeper) and we noticed not all of the kills I do, she is awarded (for deeds). We tested many things and it happens even when we are very close together (like on top of eachother) so it's not a range thing.

We also think it might have to do with runestone. If we do not attack a mob with any skills accept for my with volcanic rune-stone it seems to not always work.

Does anyone else have any experience with this or has any idea how to make this work?

    EDIT:

We tried on several days and she playing with different characters, and in different regions. Problems persisted. If she doesn't 'touch' my kills she randomly doesn't get rep and such, but other times she does get it.

Edit 2. We are about the same level (max 8 or so levels difference). We first noticed it in the lone lands where we were exact same level but it also happened with her other char which is a couple levels lower. Problem seems to only appear in landscape while in instances it works properly.

Best class to solo group content

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 11:10 AM PST

I'm a recently returned player and not that familiar with new content post RoR. I've always enjoyed playing a burg and warden in times past but from what I've read they have both changed quiet a bit and may not be as survivable as they used to.

My playstyle tends to focus on mostly solo stuff and I'm not all that concerned about endgame meta although I wouldn't want to useless in endgame content for whenever the chance arises. What I want though is to be able to experience as much of the content that I can, including group content, with a class capable of doing so as solo as possible.

My old warden was pretty adept at this but from what I've read they are far more squishy than they used to be and I'm unsure how well they solo group content anymore. I have no idea if burgs can self heal anymore at all, maybe some in blue line?

What class do people recommend to try to accomplish this overall goal? I was looking at the captain and beorning as both seem able to take a hit and have self healing capacity. I not overly concerned about dps unless dps races are what most of the content comprises of now a days.

    Back from Hiatus...so many hunters.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 05:32 PM PST

Hey everybody! So I'm back after my reoccurring 2-3 year hiatus and am leveling a Blue/Yellow Beorning (so much fun!)

I noticed that just about everybody I've come across in my adventuring (up to level 30 so far) has been a hunter.

I know about their massive damage and traveling buffs, but the range of classes I have seen leveling seems to be disproportionate.

Is there any other reason for this that I wouldn't know about from my time away?
