    Stat change?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 01:24 AM PDT

I'm a returning player (I played more than a healthy amount from launch through Moria). I last played probably in 2014. As my characters are stuck on Snowbourne I've rerolled and I'm currently going through the Lone Lands. I've noticed my captain has over 2.5.k health at level 26. Random drops and crafting at my level are seemingly giving as many stats as were on level 50 endgame items. Has there been a huge rebasing of stats at some point? All of the quest rewards at my level appear to be useless?

    Fan Film "Horn of Gondor"

    Horn of Gondor fanfilm

I imagine many of you have already heard of this fanfilm on other lotr reddits, but just in case anyone missed it (like I did), here's a link to it on youtube. My family and I watched it for the first time this morning. It portrays how, 500 years before Aragorn's coronation, Cirion the Steward of Gondor sends messengers to the North to form an alliance with the ƉothĆ©od, ancestors of the Rohirrim, so as to help repel the attacks of the Balchoth. Its very well done, and only about 20 mins. long. It was filmed in the Czech Republic, and the scenery is gorgeous!

    "Use high resolution game data"

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 01:23 PM PDT

I would love to appreciate the beauty of the game with more detail. The tooltip on this launcher option mentions "will increase storage requirements" but there is no mention of , for example, if this options puts a strain on the card or how it affects performance. I`m thinking probably not much but would like to hear from those that use this option. Thanks in advance.

Is this game worth playing if I’m free to play?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 08:34 PM PDT

Title. I love the lord of the rings series a whole lot but it seems like a lot of the good is locked behind a paywall.

    I can’t launch the game

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 06:57 PM PDT

I just decided to download the game off steam and made an account on the website but the game won't launch no matter what I do. I've reinstalled it several times, swapped compatibility between windows 8 and 7 and idk what to do

Edit: the game is working now. Thank you all for the help. Tonight is literally the first time I ever play this game and i don't have a whole lot of experience playing mmorpgs, just ESO and WOW on PS4 and pc respectively and both of those are this year alone. I'm going with a male hobbit guardian named Fosco Hardbottle of Harfoot lineage

My characters are stuck on a closed server

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 07:55 AM PDT

A bit of background: I used to play since beta, on and off, but haven't played in years. I decided to reinstall the game after a random encounter in Guild Wars 2 and someone reminding me of how lovely LotRO was.

I installed it after recovering my password, but couldn't find my characters anywhere. Turns out they're on a "closed world" and transfers aren't currently enabled between any worlds. But then I searched around a bit and found https://www.lotro.com/en/worldtransfer, which states:

Transfers are not currently avaiable from an older, closed game world to an active game world, although we intend to reintroduce those transfers in the future.

This is a joke, right? Standing Stone aren't actually telling me that I'm free to play their game, but that all the characters I've worked for so far are stuck on a server that nobody can access and there's no way for me to move them from there, right?

I mean they can, but there's no way in hell I'm even considering investing any time or money into a game whose devs seem to be so.. anti-consumer, I guess, is the best way to put it.

Please tell me I'm wrong and there's either some way of playing on Gilrain or getting literally everything I've ever achieved in this game off an inaccessible, closed world?!

Standing stones Games revenue and the skeleton crew working on lotro

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:04 PM PDT

    hey guys,

So recently I came across this website that claims SSG apparently has an estimated revenue of 20.7m dollars annually and 40 employees working across all locations.

    https://www.dnb.com/business-directory/company-profiles.standing_stone_games_llc.d6b5d03b9143156a64d8f027b24249bc.html#:~:text=Standing%20Stone%20Games%20LLC%20is,million%20in%20sales%20(USD)).

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this(if true), IMHO the quality of recent lotro updates/expansions always leave something to be desired. I'm talking reused assets, lackluster armor designs, botched class balance, the neglection of pvmp, bugs/glitches that don't get fixed for multiple patches etc. The faltering engine that completely loses its shit sometimes in raids, random bouts of laggggg and so on.

I read on the lotro forums that there was also a developer roster leak that showed each developer on each department and that it was basically a skeleton crew, though I could not find this leaked roster.

I was under the impression that SSG was always pressed for money and that they made do with what they got for their loyal customers and that shit would improve in time if their revenue stream improved aswell.

my question basically is: wtf? 20million in revenue seems like an okay revenue, one that could finance more improvements and fixes and devs for this game than currently the case or am I missing something?
