Posted: 27 Mar 2020 03:51 PM PDT Hi all! I've tinkered with LotRO in the past but I've never gotten past level 30 or beyond the Lonelands. I'm thinking it's time to finally take the plunge, and I've narrowed down my class selection to these two classes - Hunter and Warden. I like their selection of movement buffs and travel skills, and I like that they pair up well with the Explorer vocation. My main goal is to just have fun traveling the lands and exploring all the quests and storylines of Middle-earth. I know that I can't be told which I'll find more fun, but I've played both a little (up to level 20ish) and read as much as I can about them. However, LotRO info is a bit sparse compared to some of the more mainstream MMOs and a lot of it is outdated in 2020. So I thought I'd ask for opinions here. From what I can gather, it seems like Hunter is definitely easier to play than Warden. Hunters typically attack at maximum range and can often defeat enemies before they close into melee range, while Wardens have to memorize gambit chains - I've read that it takes Wardens a lot of effort and additional key presses to do what other DPS classes can do in just a couple, and if trying to surpass them, it takes even more. I worry about getting overwhelmed, especially after a stressful day during stressful times like those we're living in now. However, Wardens seem to be capable of higher DPS than Hunters, and can solo difficult content (like fellowship quests and perhaps even dungeons) more easily than Hunters. Though they seem challenging to play, perhaps that challenge could be a good thing? I know that in WoW, I couldn't get into the Hunter class because it felt way too easy and low-risk, with my pet tanking every mob without breaking a sweat while I stood in the distance plinking away with my gun or bow. I preferred other, 'harder' classes. I know Hunters in LotRO don't have pets, but I'm mainly talking about the difficulty level - I'm still not sure if I'd get similarly bored with LotRO's Hunter. I'm also a little wary of how it seems half the LotRO population is made up of Hunters. I guess the popularity means they're good to play, but it doesn't feel super great to become just another Hunter in a sea of Hunters. I could keep leveling both but I'm starting to get to the point where the quests are converging and I don't want to have to do them twice. My feelings as of right now are that I enjoy the Hunter a little more mainly because it feels a little more reactive - I use my skills based on what's happening around me, as opposed to the Warden where I just kind of cycle through the same gambits over and over regardless of the situation. However, as of right now I've only done solo quests, so even though I prefer Hunter for those I wonder if once I get into harder content and group content the Warden would be more up my alley. It's really proving to be a hard decision for me! I was wondering if anyone here has experience with both classes, especially in recent months, and could share their opinions with me? Thanks for reading! [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Mar 2020 10:02 PM PDT Hi everyone. Basically what the title says. I was levelling a hunter with a friend in a duo. He was a burglar. Everything was cake, but he stopped playing. My hunter is level 48. Most of the landscape stuff is still easy but I've noticed now my hunter doesn't do well in some areas. I have a burglar I have soloed to 80 and he does fine anywhere - for example the trolls and giants in the Misty Mountains or Trollshaws. My burglar was able to do a lot of the group stuff in Angmar solo (those high level Angmarim for example). I don't see how my hunter will be able to do those quests without help. I would appreciate any advice on how to handle this content. I try to use all of my skills but I might be getting their usage or rotation wrong. I've tried all 3 lines. I prefer blue because of the mobility but switched to red recently. Thank you [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Mar 2020 11:55 AM PDT I'm coming back to Middle-Earth while everything is unlocked (hopefully sticking around after too, but we'll see), and my plan was to race a character through the epics through Rohan (the last region I have properly unlocked from when I played regularly) and then slow down and smell the roses while they're free. Anyone have any class suggestions? I remember really liking mini, but I'm already going to be playing one with my friend, who's never played at all, so I'd like to try something different. Mostly focused on soloing; if I stick around I'll level a mini for endgame stuff, but I don't really plan on it with this one for the most part. I have RK, Warden, and Beorning all unlocked if that's relevant. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Mar 2020 12:40 PM PDT Is the character transfer button gone for good? I'd like to transfer a character of mine from Gladden to Evernight but I can't seem the find the transfer button anywhere... [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Mar 2020 06:31 AM PDT I wanted to delve into this game but I wish to know if it is still worth for beginners. Some MMOs keep content fresh and valuable only for advanced (leveled) players, like what happened to Lineage 2 - which I played for years but nowadays doesn't have any incentive for new players and only veterans keep playing basically. So how's LoTRO status on this regard right now? [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Mar 2020 09:03 AM PDT I know that the cap for crit rating is 25%. If I remember correctly trait/legacy % increases are added in top of it. Three things about it I don't quite get. Firstly is the % increase a flat increase or a % of your crit rating? So if you have a trait that ups crit rating for a certain skill by 20% will that turn into a total of 45% or 25 + 5 = 30%? Secondly does crit rating for certain skills also stack on top of the crit cap? And thirdly is the devastating/magnitude cap linked to the crit cap or can you increase it further? Good Class options for beginners Posted: 27 Mar 2020 08:28 AM PDT Hello, I am trying to convince my friend to play this with me while most of the game is free to no subscribers, but hes never played an MMO before. What are some good classes that he will have success with being so unfamiliar? both in game play features and viability down the road. thank you! [link] [comments]
Minas Morgul not appearing in the store for points... Posted: 27 Mar 2020 07:31 AM PDT Founders Account, been on LOTRO since launch and have been waiting for Minas Morgul to appear in the store so I can buy it with points, but when I login and check under Expansions, it does not appear. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas on how I can fix this? [link] [comments] |
