WoW refugee — looking for beginner advice/guidance Posted: 12 Feb 2020 07:07 PM PST I played WoW for years, and recently stopped playing the new iteration of Classic WoW. While I love MMOs, I have grown tired of WoW and its world/lore. Compared to the Tolkien universe, it feels hollow, unfinished. With that said, I am very interested in starting LotRO, but I have no idea where to start. I've read a few different posts here on Reddit, including one of the stickies, and I've also read some articles elsewhere. There's some commonalities, but a lot of conflicting information, too. I basically want to start by playing a class that can solo a lot of content, as I have zero friends who are interested in playing with me. If it's possible to play on a legacy server before transitioning to newer content, I'd love that, too. I'd also like to play a class that is valuable to groups. I've always played tanks, but I'm happy to play a healer or support/debuff class. I do not much care for pure DPS classes. As far as the story goes, I really want to experience as much from the world as possible while I play. Any advice or guidance much appreciated, even if you just link me to previous threads. Much appreciated! P.S. if you know of any servers that have a higher frequency of newer players, I'd love that, too. [link] [comments]

Dumb question: how to get first age weapons now? Posted: 12 Feb 2020 03:23 PM PST After being gone for 5 years i feel so clueless on some things. Sorry... Ive a hunter about to hit level 100. What materials are needed for a first (or second) age legendary? Does a woodcutter create the bow and a metal smith the weapon? What symbol is needed for the first age and how can you get them other than AH. And is there a big difference between a first and a second at this point? Thanks so much. [link] [comments]

Understanding this subreddit's intended content Posted: 12 Feb 2020 09:10 AM PST Over time I have observed that this subreddits receives posts that are content not connected to the game other than also being about the LOTR universe. Say LOTR-related art, or announcements of products or media that include the LOTR universe. I see how these appeal to a large part of the subreddits userbase, but on the other hand they do not appeal to all. Do we have a common understanding what kind of content should be on the subreddit? I have not found a guideline in the sidebar, other than the "The subreddit for the game Lord of the Rings Online. Now free to play, get it HERE!" text. I guess my question boils down to is any LOTR content also LOTRO content in the context of this sub? [link] [comments]

If I level tailoring, then switch to another skillset that also has tailoring.. does it reset? Posted: 12 Feb 2020 09:34 AM PST Basically title. Wondering if i switch from Explorer to, say, armorcrafter... do I lose the levels I've already gotten into tailoring? Also, bonus question! Are level 20 lockboxes worth buying keys for? (Or any lockboxes for that matter?) I'm only level 19 so far, so the whole "gives gear based on level" is kinda worrysome. Not sure how it works. Thanks in advance :D <3 [link] [comments]

Smeggero the foolish hobbit - An update Posted: 12 Feb 2020 06:20 AM PST I previously posted this - https://www.reddit.com/r/lotro/comments/dgmqo9/is_this_possible_or_just_crazy_aka_the_foolish/ tl/dr - I want to role play a Hobbit whose simple goal is to have pipeweed and shire beer atop Mount Doom. I wanted to give a brief update because my adventure so-far may answer some common questions. Also because I need some support in a wavering quest. ---- Smeggero is a simple Hobbit, he his happy to help anyone in need, but his focus in plodding ever onwards towards Mordor. He happily made it through the free-to-play areas steadily moving forward from zone to zone, never returning whence he came. Upon reaching the Trollshaws, Smeggero went VIP for a month with the goal of getting to, and through Moria. This is where the plan began to unravel. Leveling meant going into regions off the path, taking me away from my goal. Smeggero, adverse to swift travel, found himself using it due to the constant travel in-and-out of the Misty Mountains. Finally Smeggero was at a level to take on Eregon, slightly under level, but back on track. That went smoothly and finally into Moria. Smeggero felt this was a landmark in the journey, an area once through he would not double back. He was on his way. Moria wasn't as depressing or as fun as has been described. Smeggero ran all over, but the winding paths and jumping around again led to swift travel. Disappointing. Finally out the other side and into Mirkwood. Smeggero was again under level, as he tends to move forward at the earliest opportunity. Most of Mirkwood was completed, yet he's only level 62. Plus, it's a dead end, time to move on. This is when the wheels came off. Not wanting to go VIP while quad pack regions were available he felt he'd nip over to Isengard. But alas, the maps in this region are dreadful, the levels too high, and getting from the Misty Mountains to Isengard in a 'progressive' feeling nature became incredibly difficult. So Smeggero did what he swore not to do, go back in to Moria, through Eregon, and off towards Dunland. It feels like an incredible defeat and is utterly disheartening. He'll dust himself off and keep going, hopefully progressing forward from Isengard, rather than returning back through Moria to the Great River. Fingers crossed. Thank you for reading.
