Posted: 20 Jan 2020 12:06 AM PST I'm a diehard LOTR fan. Over the years I have tried to play LOTRO several times and always seem to die out around level 40. I just get.. bored of the leveling, but I so want to see the later zones and expansions. Is leveling any faster nowadays? Any way to speed things up? Catch up mechanics? Thanks! What is your favorite class to play landscape content with? Posted: 20 Jan 2020 02:34 AM PST So I've come under the case of "what the fuck do I play" once again. When I played a few years ago, I had a Hunter, and Warden (30/50) so while I'd prefer to avoid them this time around, I'd be fine with it if it fits the bill. I want a class, that I can somewhat roleplay as. Like personally, I don't relate to something like Beorning or Loremaster, just because in my head canon, Middle Earth isn't thriving with random mages or shapeshifters running around. Cappy and Champ are tempting, but the Champ feels super outdated with their gameplay in my eyes. I remember pre-Morder I was tempted by the idea of rolling a High Elf Cappy, because it would match the idea of what Fingolfin was. So yeah, realistically it's, in order...Cappy/Champ, Hunter, Warden. Thanks for any suggestions about..Not how they handle content, because everyone can, but how enjoyable they feel to play solo throughout the world. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Jan 2020 02:32 AM PST Hey all, Used to play the game from when max level was 80 to 105, had to take a break for work and looking to maybe go back into the game. Would like to ask about the general state of the game and if you guys would recommend going back? More specifically, I would be looking at endgame PVE content, like raids and such. LOTRO Store Stat Upgrade Question Posted: 19 Jan 2020 07:43 PM PST So I see from the Wiki there are 18 stat upgrade tomes possible for each stat, but when you buy them from the store there is only 5. Can you only buy 5 for each stat from the store, then hope for the others from lootboxes? I'm confused, and the store doesn't elaborate. I don't necessarily plan to just buy everything from the store, but if I stick with the game this time (I've been playing on/off since it origianlly came out), I would happily pay for them for the permanent stat boosts. Also as a bonus question, are there any character upgrades recommended from the store if I feel like spending the money? I have a couple extra travel stones from a couple years ago when I was playing because I wanted the extra fast travel spots. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jan 2020 04:22 PM PST Hi guys, returning player here (after a year plus hiatus) and I've been running into consistent problems when playing. I seem to have a problem when switching zones both by land and by teleport. When teleporting I'll often get a loading page freeze where the game just doesn't load and freezes at 0 progress, locking me out my character even after quitting and reloading. A similar thing happens every now and then when I move zone in game (only experienced this on one PC), my character will just freeze and I'm unable to move. Logging out and back in leaves me with the same loading issue, an infinite loader that doesn't budge. To fix the loading issue I then have to load up on another PC, log out and and log back in on the original computer. It is incredibly frustrating and it's severely impacting my enjoyment of the game. I'm experiencing these issues on two separate computers. I've tried both the 32bit and 64bit client but to no avail. I've read online that it could be due to desync, but I've got no idea why it's happening so frequently (maybe every 20-30 mins) Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Mike [link] [comments]
PlayWrite for performing plays and sketches in LOTRO Posted: 19 Jan 2020 12:53 PM PST Hello fellow players in middle earth, I just released PlayWrite on GitHub. Head on over and have a looksee! PlayWrite is a system to support player-run performances in LOTRO. The server (director) parses a textfile containing a play or sketch that's written in human-readable syntax and passes the lines and commands on to the respective clients (performers). All communication between server and clients is sent via the ingame chat-channels and is read by tailing a chat-log of that channel. [link] [comments]
Healing Question - Outgoing Healing vs Tactical Mastery Posted: 19 Jan 2020 10:43 AM PST Hullo everyone! I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me, or at least clarify a little. I have only recently gotten my minstrel to cap, and I have tried running a few of the Minas Morgul instances. T1 is no problem, but I struggle sometimes to heal through T2, and I am too nervous to try a higher tier. I know my gear and stats could use some tuning, but I am a bit confused on which is preferable to stack and focus on for healing purposes. Is it better to focus on Tactical Mastery, or Outgoing Healing? Or do I have it wrong entirely and Critical Rating is where I should be stacking points? I know they are all well under cap, but I am looking for advice on which one matters the most for healing. For reference, my current stats are: Tactical Mastery is at 393,502 or 138.5% Outgoing Healing is 45.1% unbuffed (55.1% in Resonance Stance) Critical Rating is 182,742 or 12.2%, I appreciate any help! Thank you in advance! EDIT: Had my stats borked a bit for some reason, updated for accuracy. [link] [comments]
Pelargir Jewelry no longer scales to Character's Level? Posted: 19 Jan 2020 07:38 PM PST I did a Pel run last night to get better Jewelry with my Beorning (Level 42), and all of the Jewelry I got was Level 100 except for the one thing I got at the end. Is this how it is now or is it just a bug? I would be really disappointed if it wasn't a bug because all the Jewelry I got would have been a huge improvement over what I have currently. Returning Arkenstone player - Start fresh or carry on? Posted: 19 Jan 2020 11:55 AM PST Hey guys, returning player here - though I think the last time I properly sat down and ran my main was over 3 years ago! I used to run regularly, though never ran encounters/skirms/raids due to my deafness preventing me from joining on teamspeak and other voice based communication methods. I had a Champ at cap, and a Warden not far behind. I really loved this game, but unfortunately ran out of time to play it consistently. Now that I've got some time on my hands again, I'd really like to get back into the game. As the title suggests, I'm debating whether to carry on with my Champ (who is horribly built, thanks to my clueless moseying around Middle-Earth) or start afresh and re-establish my grip on the game again. Any suggestions, insights, tips or tricks would be hugely welcomed :) Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jan 2020 03:24 PM PST I've been sitting here for so long going back and forth on what MMO to play to get me back into MMOs. I tried ESO, Neverwinter, Guild Wars 2, Final Fantasy XIV, WoW (again), and even LotRo awhile back. Well, tried to try LotRo. Several years back, around maybe the Isengard expansion my PC at the time went to crap and I was don't with PC gaming. This also meant saying goodbye, for the most part, to MMOs. Some popped up on consoles, ESO and FFXIV being the two big ones, but they never quite scratched that itch. So a little over a year ago I bought a new gaming PC and went to try LotRo again. It saddens me to say that my account didn't work anymore. I don't know if it had something to do with the developer change, which I didn't even know had happened until this point, or maybe it just got deleted for being inactive? Bummed me out at the time as I had a lot of stuff purchased/unlocked. I moved on. For the past year or so, I get that MMO itch every so often and nothing does it for me. So last night I went through support, sent an email trying to recover my old account. I've heard nothing yet and kind of think I won't hear anything at all. So I created a new account. I see my old server is gone, Elendilmir, which I guess means my old main is gone as well, man burglar if you are wondering. So I went with Arkenstone, made a new man burglar and am diving back in pretty fresh. I want to get VIP, but not sure if I should hold off until I maybe hear back from Standing Stone Games support. This is my favorite MMO I have played and am hoping I get back into it again. Did I pick a decent server? [link] [comments]
Confused new player wanting to get in. Posted: 19 Jan 2020 12:21 PM PST Hey folks I want to jump in from scratch and looking at the cheapest or most cost effective way of doing it. There are so many expansions, subscription stuff, points, etc. I do not know where to start. As it is, it looks like it would be costing me hundreds just to have the content I need to start? I'd like to play on a server that is somewhat populated and where i could find groups while leveling. I do not want to play solo all the way until end game (i do realize everyone is there) but my favourite part of a mmorpg is grouping too. So is there some starter pack, or bundle, or anywhere somebody could suggest to start in terms of a brand new player starting from scratch, which expansions should I get, or vip, or whatever? Thanks [link] [comments]
A tip on quest packs/expansions Posted: 19 Jan 2020 06:40 PM PST Hello good people, I've recently come back to lotro after around 6 years of not playing. I wanted to get back to levelling, but honestly, the amount of new quest packs is confusing and not really well-explained in-game. So, my question is - which quest packs/expansions do I need in order to get to the max lvl nowadays? My qp/expansions include: Evendim Eregion Moria Lothlorien Enedwaith Isengard Rohan Helm's Deep I have around 1200 LP so far and will be trying to stay away from buying VIP. Any help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Jan 2020 07:07 AM PST So I made a Cappy in December and played him to level 25/30ish. He's in Garth Agarwen right now, on probation because I couldn't solo the GA instance with him like I expected to. I'm luke-warm about the class and uncertain if I want to keep playing him or not. He's a High Elf so I'm satisfied with his Race/Class combo, but something about him isn't clicking with me. -His heal seems to get worse/more irrelevant as I level rather than getting better. -His bannerman that runs around with him only seems to give like 1% bonuses, does this ever improve? -The bannerman seems like it does most of my damage, which is odd to me. I could be perceiving incorrectly though. I'll maybe read up a bit more on some guides but right now I'm not seeing the appeal of this class. Shield brother seems like it's my only group buff, except for my bannerman's 1% so I'm not seeing the support aspect either. [link] [comments]
