    New Warden on Crickhollow

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 03:05 PM PST

    Hello all,

I've finally decided to learn how to play warden. I've always wanted to play one, they look like a lot of fun, but I've always been intimidated by the gambit system. I started a new high elf warden named Ingolfin on Crickhollow and I was wondering if there are any friendly kins who wouldn't mind having a fresh start warden join them for some adventures in Middle-Earth.

    Offline singleplayer in far-off future

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 05:26 PM PST

I know that LOTRO is still alive and kicking, but I'd like to keep it with me forever. It would make me really sad to see it all go down the drain in 5-8 years from now.

I don't have any knowledge on how could it be done from technical perspective, not even sure if it's possible. But a copy-pasted version of the game which can be played offline would be a dream come true.

Lemme hear Your words on the topic! Also, how many years do You think LOTRO's got left? Is 5-8 just my optimism kicking in or maybe its not even nearly as many?

Used a 105 Valar on my Champion, and I'm trying to get the LIs going. Having trouble finding anything current online. Any help is appreciated.

    Leveling friend or two

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 08:57 PM PST

Hi all. So longtime player here. Have had several accounts over the years since about 2008. Lost most of my original kin when the class changes came to the game at level 85, since many then got really fed up and left. Me too since I got bored without my game friends...

Long story short, I came back to the game about a month ago and been having nice time relearning the game and its changes again, but miss having friends to hang with. Everyone says join a kin of course, but honestly seems like the kins that recruit are either only looking for elites to fill spots in raiding at end game which I obviously cannot do now, or else they are kins with people already in clicks and despite saying they are friendly to newcomers, they really don't welcome new people as they claim. I also hate drama so am kind of leary of kins with oodles of people who always s*T talk.

Not looking for hand holding, I know how to play my classes. As is, leveling content is pitifully easy so its not about needing help. Just would be nice to have at least one or two people to quest with and enjoy the journey. I have some chars I am leveling fresh on Arnor, and have a bunch of my old chars parked on Gladden, though none are at end game. Their virtues are also a bit messed up after the latest change? so I would have to fix some of that to keep leveling them.

Anyway, if anyone can relate to this and would like to team up I would like to hear from you; message me. I am on west coast u.s. time.

    Thanks for considering this.

Aria of Valar: Time Req. for Back-tracking?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 05:29 PM PST

I recently returned to the game, and I previously had a level 95 hunter who had basically everything up to/including the Helm's Deep expansion maxed out (quests complete, reputation/LI's maxed, etc).

With returning, I am debating getting the Mordor pack that includes the Aria of Valar, as I've always really wanted to play a captain, and this feels like a good opportunity. I have seen a lot of people saying that the Aria of Valar is less useful than it appears though, since you have to backtrack to do class deeds/quests/rep grind/LI grind anyways.

My question is: If I use the Aria of Valar to level a captain, how much time/effort does it take to bring him "up to par" with a character that reaches lv105 naturally? Is it a several hour/day job that just involves re-visiting some old locations/quests, or is it a 3-4 month job of grinding reputation and repeating all quests from all the lower-level zones?

I love my hunter so I wouldn't mind continuing to play on it, but I have always felt that it's kind of a one-trick class. I also love playing as a support, and captain is one of the more interesting support classes I've come across in any MMO.

    Solo Minstrel LI

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 12:05 PM PST

My Minstrel is currently level 114 and I have been building up a FA weapon and songbook for healing in instances. However, I realized recently that the trouble I am having against landscape enemies is due to the fact that none of my legacies are damage focused. I started collecting dps legacies for a second weapon and book but I was wondering if I should invest in trying to make two more FA items or if I can just use a TA weapon and book in landscape quests. I understand the difference in grind but since I am not ready for raiding right now, I have no reliable way to get emblems to make a FA item.

Tearing my hair out trying to download.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 12:04 PM PST

I don't really know if I'm looking for a solution here (although one that works would be welcome) or just a rant.

I've been trying for days now to install LOTRO after not playing for a year or two. I've been constantly getting the patchdll message.

I've deleted an array of .dat files.

I've deleted the .dat file the log file says is the problem.

    I've repeaired through the client.

I've downloaded the client through both steam and the LOTRO website.

I've deleted all the .dat files.

I've tried installing the C++ Packages.

I've deleted all the files and started again countless times.

And to top it all off, half the time the client installer gets stuck in a downloading loop and chews up all my data. This is the second time this has happened to me. A month or two ago I managed to talk my phone company out of a $700 bill because I left the client on to download a 300mb file when I went to bed.

This is also happening to two friends of mine and is happening on both my computers. Seriously, I want to give ~~Turbine~~ Standing Stone Games my money. My friend who used to play also wants to sign up again. We're also going to be playing with a friend who is new to the game. None of us can even install it and it's getting frustrating.

I spent a lot of hours in LOTRO many years ago now on Elendilmir (RIP) and would love to play again.

I have put a ticket in, but due to the time difference to Australia it's slow going, especially when most of the solutions are the ones I've already tried.

    /Rant

What do you guys think about FAQ visibility?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 04:03 PM PST

There are people asking the same set of questions every day (do I have to buy each expansion, what do I get for subbing, is the game still active). Literally every single day there is another thread asking the same question.

Is there anything that can be done to improve visibility of the answers since sidebar does not seem to be noticed too often? Maybe a pinned post at the top? Or a "before you post" section as some subreddits do?

    still struggling to download—Steam?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 05:20 PM PST

I posted a little while ago about having trouble getting the Mac wine client to download so that I can redownload the whole game. It refuses to work still and I don't know what else to do. I really miss this game and want to play again.

Does anyone know about using Steam to play on a Mac? I found some things about it on forums but they were from a few years ago so I don't know if the information is still reliable.

    Buying Game Question

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 04:15 AM PST

Thinking about getting into this game.....I take it that if you buy the latest expansion all the rest are included like in other MMO's?

And what would the latest expansion be?

    Lotro world chat channel?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 03:05 AM PST

    Hi,

I recently subbed to lotro (VIP) and am trying to connect to a world chat channel on the game if possible. My character is level 10, I have purchased most of the expansions, except the latest one and play on crickhollow server.

I have tried a number of times to find a chat channel that most players use as whenever I play I never see anyone chatting. Granted its a US server and I live in Australia, however I thought I would occasionally hear some players chatting, but there is none. Would someone please help me find and connect to the chat channel most players on that server use.

I really like the game, the graphics are really nice, I just would like to hear general chat sometimes.

    Thankyou, Jamie.
