There has been a lot of low-effort content unrelated to the game posted here. Not everyone appreciates seeing memes or reminders of the movies. LOTRO is a very rich game, and there is plenty to talk about on it alone. The music, the quests, the design, gameplay tips, etc. I know the mods don't enforce anything so this is just a basic gripe, but it really muddies the waters when people treat this place like a dumping ground for all LOTR content.

You will find a much more appreciative community for non-LOTRO stuff on subreddits dedicated to that:

    r/lordoftherings

r/LOTR (because we apparently needed two general LOTR subs)

r/LOTRmemes (PLEASE keep the juvenile Nigerian prince/terrible pun memes there)

r/tolkienfans (for fans of the books, not the movies)

And I'm sure there's plenty more. This sub can be better but the community has to help that.

EDIT: I feel bad for being a grump about this, because I also don't want to push away the movie fans from the game. That's clearly not the developers intentions. It just boils down to the fact that there's already lots of places for the general fandom. While people here may have posted the unrelated crowd-pleasing stuff genuinely, it unfortunately encourages people who care way too much about reddit karma (at all) to come in and turn this forum into another LOTR karma farm, with the occasional video game questions that will probably get buried.

Hello, any help would be great for a newbie. Feeling overloaded by quest.

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 10:22 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I just started plying lotro for the first time about two weeks ago. I'm currently level 20 on a man champion and having a blast just feel like there's so many quest and want to make sure I'm not skipping anything important. I've done most of the quest in breeland, but just did a quest in the shire that was around level 14 and the quest giver also offered a lvl 7 quest. Do each zones have their own quest for each level range or should I be trying to do all the quest?

I used to play vanilla WoW an some quest had chains that you had complete to eventually get some nice loot. Just want to make sure I'm not skipping over anything

Oh also, I'm red spec (solo-crit) and was wondering if any could recommend some stat priorities.

Thanks again! Also any newbies tips would be great, loving the game just feel like I may be glancing over some stuff :)

What is your favorite class and why? Also, do you think there are some downsides to this class?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 02:16 PM PDT

I'll give my answer as well. My favorite class is the Hunter for the following reasons:

    • The ranged nature of this class allows you take down some opponets without recieveing any damage.
    • Tracking skills are very useful when you need to kill specific enemies for quests.
    • Wayfaring skills allow for fast travel across all of Middle Earth (and no cooldowns!).
    • Return to Camp is also useful for traveling (also no cooldown!)
    • Find the Path is nice walking speed buff.

The only downside is that I find the Hunter to terrible at fighting multiple opponets. Three opponets means I'm fighing for my life, and more than that is a death sentence.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
