    Nostalgia

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 02:09 AM PST

I'm sure there's a ton of returning players bc Covid. Me and my buddy were both playing this years ago, probably 5-6 and were commenting tonight on how every new place/quest immediately triggered the memory of when we did it a while back. MMOs are cool, but it's cool how memorable this game is. We're also big pot smokers so we definitely aren't benefiting from great memory.

Anyway with that said, we're both VIP and will buy whatever. Who is level 30-40 that wants to play with us (we're both 35)

    Why do you play?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 08:16 PM PST

    Hello,

I'm in the market for a new MMO and I'm having trouble deciding between ESO and LOTRO.

I'm the type of player that enjoys all the aspects of the game. For ESO I've never made it passed 15, I always think I'll enjoy a different build better or something along those lines.

In LOTRO I made it to 85, like 10 years ago, but since returning I haven't made it passed 12 or so, again with Alt-itus. To make matters worse, I have MMO-itus now.

For LOTRO I like the class system. There is a lot more to grind and feel accomplished for, like Deeds and Virtues, legendary weapons. I love the Middle Earth lore way more. I like the combat system more. It's by far the most friendly community in the world. I feel it would be easier to roleplay in.

The things keeping me from committing. The pvp system is... not good. I feel it's a bit dated and I'm worried its just going to be going from zone to zone doing tons of fetch quests and not really experiencing the lore.

For ESO, what appeals about it to me would be the sense of completion. Grinding all the things on the map and they give XP. The graphics are better. There is a larger playerbase (that I've never played with another person). The quests are voiced and story-driven rather than there being 10 fetch quests in an area. There is a pvp system, I don't know how balanced it is or if Ill ever be able to get into it as a new player, but it's an option.

The things keeping me from committing is the crafting system seems wonky, I'm not a fan of the class system and the combat that I've experienced so far feels really lackluster. I'm also not a huge ES lore person, so some of the quests I'm just like eh on. There is also so many confusing systems that aren't explained well. I don't really know if there's a roleplay community or how to make friends. It feels like it's going to get really easy really fast.

Anyway, all that being said. Why do you play Lotro? What do you enjoy? Can you sell me on your game?

    Thanks!

Loremaster DPS 3 minute parse 156k

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 07:36 PM PST

    So... this happened

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRj8Gpq7b14

He pulls off a 156k dps parse as a Red Loremaster... wonder if they've earned a spot as dps in raids now?

    (Not a spike 156k... a CONSISTENT 150-160k dps for a full 3 minutes)

Hello everyone, I'm a returning player after being gone for a few years! I now have a character at lvl 121 and was wondering if the best course of action to get to max is instances or questing?

    New Player Expansion Questions

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 12:20 PM PST

Hey guys I'm going to begin playing LOTRO tonight! I love Lord of the Rings and everything Tolkien. I'm also a fan of MMO's but I'm not really playing for that reason. I want to be immersed into to world of Middle Earth and I want to experience all of the content. So this leads me to my question.

With the new black friday deals, what is the best way to purchase all the content in the game? Classes, expansions, and whatever else I should need? I will prob wait to buy the newest expansion till I get there.

Also how would you guys recommend playing the game? Is there different servers I should look into?

    Anyways thanks in advance!
