Display complaints from the launcher Posted: 23 Oct 2020 05:11 PM PDT Today (23 Oct 2020) I created my first account. Created my first character. Started the tutorial. After maybe a couple of hours, I took a break. About half an hour later, I decided to reboot the laptop, to clear any lingering browser code out of memory, and came back to it. Restarted the launcher. And got the Game Error 105 message -- twice -- followed by Game Error 128. These are the error messages that complain (1) "Could not initialize Direct3D" and then (2) "game encountered a fatal DirectX issue while attempting to start." Dell laptop is running Win 10-64 bit. Task Manager reports that about 65% of memory is in use. The launcher is using the 32-bit client (I found, when I examined "options/general" on the launcher). Under the "repair" tab on the Options, I tried resetting "the game display settings," and repairing "game data". Under the "general" tab, I tried un-checking "use high resolution game data." Nothing changed, of course. The infamous lines on my .ini file read: D3DversionPromptedForAtStartup=11 DisplayAdapter=0 I'm not changin' nuthin' in that file just on my personal whim... Thoughts? When I came back from my break, I had had some questions about the user interface -- what keys to press, what things to click on, in order to make this or that happen. Those questions are irrelevant at this point, of course. [link] [comments] | ||
Laptop heats up when playing LOTRO Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:41 PM PDT Hi , I m running LOTRO in a HP Laptop, Specs: i3-6 100U CPU 2.30ghz, 6.0 gb ram Integrated video card 520mb. Launcher stuck on initializing after exiting game with stay logged in box checked Posted: 23 Oct 2020 11:35 AM PDT Is the launcher supposed to get stuck on initializing after exiting the game? It is nice not having to retype your login information, though I have to close out the launcher and relaunch it just to go to a different server, so it seems a little silly, especially since most of the time is taken on reverifying that the game is up-to-date each time. Posted: 23 Oct 2020 08:28 AM PDT Does anyone have the same problem, or is there a solution out there I haven't been able to find? I've looked up and down Reddit and LOTRO forums and found nothing in my searches. Anybody have anything to chip in? Edit - Thanks to u/Thimbur and u/Tywien for the solution, it just didn't occur to me the new update could have caused it. [link] [comments] |
